Guys over at Westeros received a word of thanks from the executive producers Benioff and Weiss after sending them a congratulatory message following the series’ pick up:
Thank you guys! Your support has been invaluable, as has the positive outlook of the fan community in general. Grassroots support really does percolate uphill. Is that a mixed metaphor? So be it.
Hear Me Roar: Their message is succint, but welcome as always. What further encouragement do we need to continue with our growing efforts in promoting Game of Thrones as best as we can?

And thanks be given to D&D. Remember, folks, if not for their extraordinary work and commitment, this series wouldn't be a reality.
I really think we're in good hands here.
Keep the spirits up!

It's never to early to beat the drums for a second season pick-up!
OK, maybe it's too early.

Ah, but HBO needs subscribers so after you have them hooked in 3 or 4 weeks you have to tell them that your spouse says they're a bunch of freeloaders and they can't come over anymore. Then they call and subscribe to HBO and the huge upswing in subscribers convinces the powers that be to renew the show year after year.
Of course you'll have to get new friends but isn't that a small price to pay to help out the rest of us? :)

They do know that the series doesn't come out until next year right? But still nice to see that the fanbase is still growing :)

Here's my tactic – host viewing parties! I'm loaning out my books (or at least, recommending them) to my friends, with the promise that I'll be having everyone over at my place on a weekly basis. I'm even going to provide snacks for folks. It seems to be working – I've got 4 friends reading the series right now. :)

Dave and D.B. have been pretty active with the fanbase from the start. You could tell they knew we'd be thrilled the day they announced the first line ("We should start back.") and the last line ("The things I do for love.") back when they first made their presence known on the Westeros boards.
Here's to me learning how to use Intensedebate. Oh, internet, you hate me so.

Well , thank you back to them….and the rest of the people here on "Winter Is Coming", for a tremendous job so far. I'll do my best to bombard anybody I know with info about this series anyway I can…
Cheers

BTW, when the recent post was talking about the show's budget, and how 45 million is not really reflective of the typical expense of a show like GoT (because of the free Paint Hall and the tax deductions, etc.), I wondered– Does anyone have any comparable figures for what it would more commonly cost for HBO to film in a big place like the Paint Hall? Or how much the tax deduction might add to the cost if it didn't exist? Also, isn't BBC actually carrying part of the burden of the cost of the show?? Is the cost of the Daenerys scenes included in the 45 million? etc etc
All I seem to be clear on is what HBO is supposedly spending in Ireland (from the article listed)– namely, the 45 million. See where I'm going? I'm trying to understand what the "real" budget of the show is, not just what HBO is paying. Then I think we can really understand how much is getting spent per ep.

There's some discussion at the Westeros forum about this here and here.
I've just come across a document that I think may be relevant for these discussions, so I'll probably be making a follow-up article covering budget matters a bit more thoroughly.

Here's to hoping they continue to play that bridging role as we move into the future. An exclusive set or costume photo would be pret-ty nice!

With that out of the way, have WiC ever asked for an interview with D&D?
"Arya Stark: "I have miles to go, and promises to keep..""
