Gemma Jackson signs on for full season

John AdamsVariety has reported that production designer Gemma Jackson has been booked for the full season of Game of Thrones. Jackson, who also worked on the pilot episode, is an awarding winning production designer who was behind the design of films such as Bridget Jones’s Diary and Finding Neverland, as well as the HBO miniseries John Adams.

Winter Is Coming: Great to see they were able to retain Jackson, although I’m surprised that it even had to be done. I was under the assumption that all the crew from the pilot had it in their contracts that if the show got picked up they would be brought back for the full season. Guess not. This means that we can’t assume the rest of the stellar production crew, including Oscar-winner Robert Stromberg and fan favorite Julia Frey, will return. Hopefully they will.

Well, anything is better than nothing, I suppose. But, dadgum, I wish they'd announce more casting.

Very good news indeed. I definately don't have to worry about the costumes now.

I can imagine that some big production names aren't automatically brought back for the full season. They are probably mucht wanted people and then pushing other oppurtunities away for 5 months seems kind of silly. If a big name can set the tone in the pilot, someone else can take it over from there. My guess is we won't see Stromberg for the full season.

I love that her clothes look worn and REAL – as opposed to many historic/fantasy series. For instance Legend of the seeker… Horrid. Only looks like it was derived from the old Eddings (I know it's not Eddings books) and co 80's male fantasies of lightly and skintight dressed ladies with swords, pouting mouths and big boobs…
Now Eddings wasn't the worst. But you get my meaning. That whole era of fantasy storytelling/softpornfantasies for pubescent boys.
Not that I didn't love them as a teenager. :) I wanted to dress like that and swing that sword/chant that magic.
But it's the stark(haha..) realism of GRRM's world that hooks me. That has turned me – ME – into a yelping hyperventilating fangirl… :)
    ;)
My cfive cents on the clothes – turned into something else..

Just for the record, Jackson is not the costume designer. That would be Michele Clapton. Jackson does oversee the costume dept, so I'm sure she has some input in the look of the costumes, but she also has many other responsibilities.

When I spoke to Frey in Ireland, she seemed very much so on board with the series. Actually she seemed about as excited as I was.
I would bet she stays with the show as long as she is able.

Yes, I would wager that to be the case as well.

My guess is that with Jackson back, all the prominent members of her production team will return.

These are indeed good news, if only to reassure us of some things we take for granted.

One question I have to all those biz people over these boards: When can we expect to know the composer of the series? I suppose it's an after filming thing, but still I wonder.
Yeah, WiC, it can be a good topic for a future poll! I'm sure there are many great candidates out there.

Bear mccreary is a fan favorite regarding a composer for GOT and he mentioned his interest for scoring the series on his blog.

Couple of days ago BearMc Creary (on twitter) linked to an ipetition started by GOT fans to show their support for him scoring the series

"Apparently, there are at least 5 people who want me to score HBO's Game of Thrones. :) Petition: http://bit.ly/c0jpri 3:58 PM Mar 19th via web"

This is good news. George has reposted on Not a Blog though and he mentions that in addition to the Cat casting there is more bad (and good) news to come. I seriously hope none of the bad news involves more major casting decisions.

GRRM said the good and bad news was "on various fronts," so they don't necessarily pertain to GoT.

Actually. Several bits of news makes it all the more likely that theres some news about the show. I wish he wouldn't mention stuff bad news coming up – now i'm gonna start making up horror-scenarios in my head. Dinklage seems busy these days…

i know this is getting off topic…..but Bear McCreary is the bidness….makes great use of low music budgets…….great is really an understatement in my humble opine……Even the fact that he is interested pleases me…….stoked if he gets the job
