Welcome to two new WiC contributors!

Filed Under: General

With the series now being official, it brings with it the promise of much more exciting news over the next year or so. Casting announcements, set reports, the release of trailers, commercials and more. I want Winter Is Coming to be the number one stop for anyone looking to find any of that stuff. So to that end, I’ve asked two WiC regulars to assist me in staying on top of the latest news and info about Game of Thrones. They graciously agreed and I am proud to introduce Marko and About Yea High as official Winter Is Coming contributors! As they assume their new positions, they will be adopting new names. Much like this site and myself, they will also be known by house mottos, Marko will be Hear Me Roar and About Yea High will go by Fire And Blood. I’m excited to be working with them and continuing to make this site the number one source for news and info about Game of Thrones!

    Yay for new bloggers, congrats to both of you! This is all very exciting. If I had the honour of becoming a WiC blogger, I'd probably pick something a bit more personal than house words. Guess what. "You know nothing, Jon Snow." :)

    Cool names – they are chosen in part based on their geographic location, right? So WIC Blog can allways be on top of newest developments with the series?

    So I take it that "Hear Me Roar" is a woman, probably Canadian, the name based on the song by Helen Reddy, "I Am Woman (Hear Me Roar)" and Fire and Blood is a religious fanatic, probably from Rhode Island.

    No…. Not sure if your being fresh.

    Winter is Coming is House Stark's Motto. The motto for some of the other houses include: "Hear Me Roar" for the Lannisters, "Fire and Blood" for the Targaryen's, "We do not Sow" for the Greyjoy's….

    Nice touch touch for the main contributors to have such names!

    Awesome awesome awesome!
    Since you both have kind of been at it all along, albeit nonofficially, I'd say you were the obvious and best choice.
    All the best on this your quest!…

    what relevance could Slovenia possibly have? our main claim to fame is NOT being relevant.

    also is it only me or are there a disproportionate number of Slovenians around here (nb disproportionate = more than one).

    Ah, thanks, I wasn't certain whether they'd do it like that or like it's been done with NSBG or CAPRICA (though those were not HBO productions).

    I do believe Marko is said to be slovenian, and that might be what was referred to….
    Offcourse I could be wrong, and Marko not be slovenian. But I have the biggest feeling that I've seen it written somewhere.
    No relevance I would guess, other than the slovenian first posting this being happy and feeling some national pride?
    As with most things in movies/tv it is very "anglicanized"(this could be a swedish word I kind of translated to english this, but hopefully you get my meaning..), and it's not that often people from other countries than englishspeaking come into the picture. IMO.
    As with everything GRRM – WiCs blog is different though, right? ;)

    Yes, there's no indication of HBO going that way, nor have they ever tried that in the past.

    You might have a point there. I have a hunch it has something to do with:
    a) us being a nation of geeks (and damn proud of it);
    b) us being relatively good at English and generally inclined to reading books in originals, not translations;
    c) in contrast to that, us recently getting two fine translations of ASOIAF books by Boštjan Gorenc – Pižama.

    But my money is on factor a). :)

  41. About Yea High
    Posted March 8, 2010 at 9:37 pm | Permalink

    I am in L.A., have scribed a few screenplays (with only limited success thus far – but that's Hollywood), and have a loose understanding of the process. I subscribe to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, follow various GoT actor fansites (the Jennifer Ehle fansite is especially amazing in its detail and up-to-date information), and tweet with the twitterers.

    That, added to my boyish good looks and natural panache, make me a nice West Coast fit, able to garner and post up any late-coming GoT news whilst WiC gets his much-needed beauty rest. Trust me when I say he needs it.

    Like Ehle, I am made of awesome.

    So Fire And Blood I will be; or FaB for short, and really, what better name for someone from the land of fruits and nuts? If I get big enough I may change it to FaBio.

    I will still post occasional comments as About Yea High, though the thoughts and ideas expressed by that nom de plume do not necessarily reflect those of Winter Is Coming, its creator, HBO, or any good taste in general for that matter.
