The rumors continue to swirl about whether HBO will have a Game of Thrones presence at the San Diego Comic Con or not. First, we received this tweet from industry analyst/insider ProgGrrl.
Hearing some very interesting #SDCC rumors… there will definitely be an AVENGERS panel… GAME OF THRONES will be there… #Whedon #HBO
Then came a report from TV critic Mo Ryan, saying she received word from HBO that there would be no Game of Thrones panel.
There will be a couple of absences this year at the San Diego festival of comic books and pop culture: An HBO source confirmed that “Game of Thrones” will not present a panel (“True Blood” will be the network’s only Comic-Con panel).
Production on “Thrones’” first season will begin in at the end of July, right around the time that Comic-Con takes place (it overruns San Diego July 22-25). Given that the cast and producers will all be in Northern Ireland then, it’s too much of a logistical challenge to make a Comic-Con appearance happen for the show, which arrives in 2011.
Winter Is Coming: Notice that Ryan’s HBO source specifically mentioned there would not be a Thrones panel. That doesn’t rule out the possibility of HBO highlighting Game of Thrones in some other capacity at the Comic-Con. Which means the rumors ProgGrrl is hearing could still be true. My guess? HBO would be wise to use the opportunity that Comic-Con presents to promote the show in some way. Seems like it would be the perfect time to release a few more promotional photos and/or a teaser poster.

Oh yeah! Give me a Jaime Lannister promotional poster, please, and make me the happiest woman in the world! lol (I wish I could go to San Diego, anyway…)

I'd guess that be it: more promo material, some teases, but no panel, no Q&A, and no people directly involved in the project.

Oh yes!
A smart guy!

I'm sure they'll do something for Comic-Con. A panel seems a little too much to ask with their schedule but I can definately see them taking the opportunity to release some promo images or another trailer.

that makes sense.
What a tease…. I wanna know!!

Considering they don't even have a whole episode to make a proper trailer out of, maybe we'll simply get a 1-2 minute long scene in it's entirety. Juuust speculating.

It's so obvious now! I sat here thinking "what could mockingbirds have to do with another casting announcement.. hmmmmm" and LF is one of my favorite characters! Whoops :) I'm so happy for the internet

They have the pilot minus the necessary reshoots.
It's not that hard to make some teaser that show us more than the one we had.
CaedesQuote Reply
I'd give my left little finger (:P) to see a whole scene of the pilot! Too optimistic though…

With the material they have, they could make a little teaser again, sure.
But i pictured/speculated maybe if they wanted to give us some more now, they wouldn't do the same thing over again. That it would either be a "real" trailer (unlikely) or the thingy i suggested. But what do i know?

Although, I will say that the TB panel does seem to be the best place for a sneak peek, if there was one.

I believe you are right. HBO isn't going to have a stage and an interested television / fantasy audience and then not at least tease AGOT. It is obvious and clear. The only problem for me personally is A) It will be hard to get into the True Blood panel, especially if a scent of any of the stars are around and B) I would then sit through the True Blood panel waiting for what I really want to see anyway. -sigh-

HBO needs to pay a little more attention. The easy way to appear at Comic-Con is send an HBO executive and have the crew / cast / George (unless George can show up himself) on a short taped video and then show a clip or a longer teaser or a trailer or anything.
Easy.
In fact that might happen, but probably when HBO has the floor for something else like True Blood.
I would be very pleased to simply get a promotional item of any kind. If I get a chance shall I grab extras for y'all? 8)
