Well I jumped the gun a bit on the tourney post. The filming of the tourney itself seems like it won’t start until next week. However, they are doing some filming today that requires extras. The question is, what could they be filming?
In other filming news, the Ballymoney Times has shed some light on the filming that went on in that town a couple weeks ago. They’ve reported that the shoot took place at “Leslie Hill farm in a field of willows.” Leslie Hill appears to be a local estate that caters to film and TV shoots. The pic above is believed to be the field of willows that was used. What do you think they were filming there? My guess is still that they were shooting scenes from the trek back to King’s Landing.

Silent sisters? Hmm, perhaps a föashback with Jon Arryn.
Ingemar SvenssonQuote Reply
Sounds like it could be the Silent Sisters tending to the body of a certain newly made knight, as Ned looks on to find his lead is quite literally a dead end.
ThomasQuote Reply
For Leslie Hill I still think it is the Trident scene with Joff, Sansa and Arya.
For today – Some scenes realted to the Tournament, prehaps the Arriving of the knights in KL.
The RabbitQuote Reply
How about this scene?
Ser Barristan and Eddard converse over the body of Ser Hugh as the silent sisters attend to the corpse. Eddard wonders if he was killed by the Lannisters before he could talk. Barristan says Hugh was Jon’s squire for four years and desperately wanted a knighthood, but he was not ready.

The Rabbit,
Do you think this was a clue from Rimshot? At the time it seemed like a strange thing to say, but I didn’t read too much into it. But now with the knowledge that there are Silent Sisters at the shoot, maybe some sort of hanging scene? Nothing like that in the books though, that I can recall… hmmm….
Winter Is ComingQuote Reply
Jackie MacPherson,
Yes, that does seem plausible. Two gold cloaks to stand guard at the door, two silent sisters to attend to the body. Where does Rimshot fit in though? Maybe a septon of some sort?
Still, until we have more info, I’d say that is our best guess.
Winter Is ComingQuote Reply
Winter Is Coming,
No, I did not even think of the possibility.
It must be some sort of mass scene.
There is a peasant, Silent sisters, Golden Cloacks…
Could be the scene Jackie mentioned, could be just random KL crowd, …
The RabbitQuote Reply
The Rabbit,
Winter Is Comming,
Could of course be that they are filming more than one scene today ;)
Jackie MacPhersonQuote Reply
Let’s look at a few of Rimshot’s tweets to see if we can’t get a better idea of what he might be playing.
In response to me asking him if he would be a “King’s Landing peasant” today, he replied:
In response to The Rabbit saying she was curious about what they are filming he replied:
So it doesn’t sound like he is just a simple King’s Landing peasant…

Do not know..
Could be anything (even Septon – not Septon Utt hopefully :) )
Have you noticed Finn s twits about the river?
Wonder if he is in Northern Ireland, too.
The RabbitQuote Reply
Can’t look at the photo since my job blocks Tweetphoto but I don’t think Finn is in NI yet. At least, he hasn’t tweeted about flying or anything, which he did do last time he went there.
Winter Is ComingQuote Reply
Winter Is Coming,
The Rabbit,
Plus he tweets to Luke McEwan that he’ll just miss him, since Luke thniks he’s going back home today.
Conclusions: they’re done with Castle Black for now and Finn is arriving in Belfast in the next few days to film the tourney.
NymeriaQuote Reply
Well Leslie Hill. .. I’m thinking the Arya, Sansa, Joff etc. argument. I suppose they would need a river or some body of water but it looks forested enough
unless they are using willows for weirwoods which means they could be shooting some of those scenes in confined areas
Gold Cloaks and Silent sisters sounds like either a flashback or maybe the aftermath of the attack in Kings landing

GRRM just posted on his Not-a-blog his schedule at Aussiecon .
It seems that on Friday, septmeber 3rd, he will have a sort o presentation (panel?) dedicated only to Game of Thrones HBO series.
Do not know if some of the WiC posters from Australia plan to attend the Aussiecon?
I was thinking about preparing some questions here on the WiC blog (al-togheter).
@WiC, HmR and FaB, what do you think about that?
The RabbitQuote Reply
The Rabbit,
I like that idea! If I can find someone who will be going to the con and agrees to ask the questions to GRRM, I will start a new thread where people can submit their questions. We will probably only be able to pick two or three good ones, but we can narrow them down in the new thread.
So any one willing to be the WiC representative at Aussiecon?

So it sounds like Rimshot met Sean Bean today. Which makes me think that Jackie might be spot on with her prediction of what they were filming.
The chances that he would get a chance to talk with Bean if it was a large scene with many extras are quite slim. However, a small scene with only two main actors (three if you count a pretending-to-be-dead Jefferson Hall as one), he would most likely have had a chance to chat with Bean in between takes and whatnot.
Hopefully Rimshot will be here soon to give us a few more details.
Winter Is ComingQuote Reply
Didn’t even realize that Thomas predicated the Ser Hugh scene first. Glossed over it in my first reading because it was a vague, mostly spoiler-free description and I didn’t make the connection right away.
So credit goes to Thomas if that turns out to be correct. :)

Rimshot to be around soon! welcome :)
Hear Me RoarQuote Reply
Coming late to the party as usual, but Ser Hugh was the first person that came to mind when I read the post as well. The only other thing I can think of would be a scene escorting the body of Jon Arryn out if KL and back to the Vale. Heck it might make The trip to the Vale even more interesting of Cat, Tyrion et. all meet up with the silent sisters and have to transport the corpse with them while being harried by the mountain clans. . Speaking of that scene, how totally awesome would it be if D&D cast three extras who looked liked a couple of Howards and a Fine???

Brad SheltonQuote Reply
There is also one detail which tells me that this scene is exactly what they filmed today.
Jefferson Hall s schedule – They need him just for the tournamanet and for this scene.
It is quite rational to film these two scenes timely close to each other.

I also hadn’t noticed Thomas’ post, kudos to him! :) I was probably looking up Tower of the Hand ;)
Also on the last post I notice Nymeria had also posted the Willow pics before I’d Tweeted them so “always the bridesmaid, never the bride”! ;)

There’s a TV series called Murphy’s law which seems a good starting point for the first one.
ShinyteapotQuote Reply
I have no idea on the actors, but I bet the two characters are Bran’s Assassin and Dany’s Wineseller Assassin, both of whom are nameless in the book and certainly up to no good. Also very crucial for several major plot points

Lalor Roddy for the first ‘man with no man’

The Guards, Garda Royle in Summer of the Flying Saucer, Boy Eats Girl, As the Beast Sleeps, Murphy’s Law, The Escapist (Kavalier and Clay)

Presumably the “first guy” in the second set of clues is Welsh (see: Welsh Rarebit, which can be quite delicious).

“The guy who had more dingers than anyone but the guys who liked the juice, well, the second guy isn’t that guy, or even the guy who chased that guy all summer.”
That’s a reference to Roger Maris (most homeruns pre-steroids era) and Mickey Mantle (chased Roger Maris in the 1961 season).
VeeloQuote Reply
The K&C reference, in case anyone hasn’t read it, is “The Escapist”. [hey, GRRM made a K&C reference! Yay!]
“Man with no man” makes me think the characters are sellswords?
Someone suggest Frank O’Sullivan for the first. Escapist, Garda, Guards… and he was in something called “A Bite to Eat” -don’t know what it was about, but sounds like it could be the title of a cannibalism film?
Unfortunately, the second two, the interesting ones, I’ve got no clue on.
WastrelQuote Reply
Wastrel,
OK, Shinyteapot’s guess looks better.
One suggestion for the second set is to look at the film, “Topsy-Turvy”? Would be easier if I knew what ‘the king of the deep’ meant.
WastrelQuote Reply
LavenderA,
Maybe James Nesbitt for Shagga or a Northern Lord? I don’t know though… I just looked up Nesbitt and to me, he looks like he could be Stannis in S2.

Man with no man just screams wildlings to me. Maybe one of the ones attacking Bran? As far s I remember only Osha is named among that crew.

“Never conquered India” refers to Alexander the Great – maybe his name is Alexander, or he was in the movie?
VeeloQuote Reply
“The first guy loves goats” Well that’s Shagga, unless they plan some kind of crazy HP crossover.
“The first guy has been every flavor of cop” According to IMDB, James Nesbitt has played a cop in “Murphy’s Law”.
“a hog” His role in “Waking Ned Devine”?
I just have this feeling…
LavenderAQuote Reply
I’ll say the second actor is Simon Lowe
He was in Mersey Beat, The Beach Boys, The Doctors and Hindenberg: Titanic of the Skies. The not high clue and the other clue likely refer to the role. No idea on that.
LangkardQuote Reply
Langkard,
I see Veelo beat me to it by a mile. Well done.

Shagga is too tiny a role for Nesbitt. Also… WHY? He’s about the last (male) character I’d suggest Nesbitt for.
WastrelQuote Reply
Wastrel,
frankly, I don’t know… You’re probably right. That was more like a shot in the dark then a thought-out guess. But crazier things happened.

Awesome report, Rimshot!
A Dothraki scene, of course! Guess that means Emilia is in Belfast along with Harry Lloyd, Dar Salim, Amrita Acharia and others? So cool!
And being a stand-in for Bean? That must have been pretty cool! What was it like to watch two great actors work a scene? I know you’ve done lots of film shoots by now, but it sounds like you had a pretty up-close view of this scene. I imagine it must have been pretty neat.
A couple more questions, if you don’t feel comfortable answering them, feel free to ignore them. ;) Do you know what scene they were shooting at the Wall while you were there? Who was directing your scene? Was it the main director or a second-unit director? Were Benioff and Weiss on set at all? Was Barristan wearing his white Kingsguard armor and/or cloak? Was the armor being worn by Hugh and (possibly) Barristan full-plate?
Winter Is ComingQuote Reply
Winter Is Coming,
Was wondering about the directors, too.
I think I am going to camp over Flickr in hope some innocent and ignorant soul would post some pics.
I am counting on the tourists (but, hell, the tourists won t visiting quarries, grrrr)
The RabbitQuote Reply
Hear Me Roar, the conversation between Ned and Ser Barristan is right out of the book. Selmy tells Ned a bit about the late Ser Hugh. Short of the piece at court where Ser Barristan is dismissed from the Kingsguard, this one of Barristan’s most important scenes in the book; it’s really just him and Ned speaking, without the rest of the small council or the crowd present when Selmy meets Sansa, and there is more focus on Ser Barristan than at almost any other time.
As for the Dothraki scene, it’s not a surprise, since Conan Stevens had already told us that he had run into Jason Momoa while in Belfast. No doubt several of the others were there too.
