It sounds like the production may have moved back inside for now as filming the Hand’s tournament has concluded and we haven’t heard of any more location filming this week. One report indicates that they will be filming inside the Paint Hall tomorrow and Friday. I’m not sure exactly what scene but the report indicated that there are lots of extras that will be there, serving as guards.
Another report from an extra says that he will be filming this Saturday and from the description of his costume, it sounds like he might be a wilding. Perhaps this will be the scene where we first meet Osha? We know filming of Winterfell scenes are set to begin soon and it sounds like Saturday may be the first.
Lastly, a brief report about the filming of the tournament has surfaced. You’ll have to click the link to read it as it contains some small spoilers. Also of note, I’ve heard that the tourney scenes were directed by Brian Kirk.

Still amazed at this point in filming we haven’t had some pictures leaked or something. I want to see me some Lannisters in costume!

I am going for the quick guess for the gurads: some scene in the Throne room in KL?

heh, I’m wondering where the “next” is on the human body…of coarse I’m stoked that this seems to be following the book closely with the lance through the neck and the decapitation of Gregor horse.
dizzy_34Quote Reply
Also I’m wondering if they could be filming the prologue again. That and the Ohsa part are the only time the wildings show up in book one, right?

Just as a note, because I know this was brought up in my last set report post, I’m going to refrain from linking to my sources of info for now, due to the heavy security around the project.
I’ve always linked to the source in the past but it seems that doing that this time around only serves to bring HBO’s “Eye of Sauron” on the reporting party and I don’t want to do that. So for now, the posts will contain info gleaned from reliable sources around the web or, possibly, from folks I am in direct contact with. However I won’t be linking to or crediting these reports.

I was thinking that as well. The other possibility is Tyrion returning to Winterfell and appearing before Bran. Would make sense since Kristian Nairn had a tweet last Thur talking about getting in character “a week early.”
Possibly. We know that there were some production trucks headed in the direction of Tollymore recently. Of course, if that is the case, then it would mean Will has been recast…
Winter Is ComingQuote Reply
Or they are going to shoot some “around the Winterfell” stuff in Tollymore (like they did with a fake wolf), perhaps the wildings attack on Bran.
The RabbitQuote Reply
Its also possible we could see a setup scene over the wall not related to the prologue (foreshadowing dark times ahead/peril for those that man the wall).
DigDougQuote Reply
Actually WiC’s guess regards the Paint Hall scene had me wondering if the extra wasn’t a Wildling but in fact one of Tyrion’s Mountain men?
Hey finally remembered the spoiler tags :)

I can confirm that Lannister Guards will be some of the extras used/shot in the painthall over the next 2 days… but whether they are based in KL or Winterfell or anywhere in betweem I don’t know
ezeqielQuote Reply
ezeqiel,
That is sort of stuff I was talking about earlier in the other blogpost.
Nobody is going to be harmed with it, I guess :)
So, anyone recall?
Does Tyrion has some guards of his own house while arriving in WF?
The RabbitQuote Reply
The Rabbit, Tower of the Hand states he has two servants with him, but doesn’t mention anything about there being any household guards. Not sure what the actual book text says.
Although I have to imagine he would have at least a few with him. I suspect the brother of the queen wouldn’t travel to and from the Wall without some protection. So even if the book doesn’t explicitly say he had guards with him, I can imagine they might put them in the scene anyway.
Winter Is ComingQuote Reply
Winter Is Coming,
So, I admit your guess is best so far.
Unless we are talking here of two different scenes: on Thursday and Friday Tyrion arriving in WF (indoor) and on Saturday (outdoor) : wildlings attack Bran.

That jousting bit sounds pretty gruesome!
GRRM never shied away from the violence, with plenty of entrails, heads rolling, throats removed, etc. I was wondering how uncomfortable HBO would end up making the violence as it can be a turn-off for some viewers.
ChrisQuote Reply
Chris,
Take a look at Sopranos, Rome, True Blood, Band of Brothers, The Pacific…plenty of graphic violence in those and they did pretty well. (Well maybe not Rome, but I love Rome so…)
dizzy_34Quote Reply
The Rabbit,
Having just re-read that part of the book, it is noted that Tyrion had two of his own men with him, as befits his rank as brother to the queen (not a direct quote but very close, if I recall correctly.) They helped assemble his tent on the road, etc. when he was both going to the wall and returning to Winterfell. It wouldn’t be that much of a leap of faith to think they are Lannister household guards, especially given the whole “befits his rank” thing.

I could be off base here, but when he mentioned getting into character a “week early” wasn’t that in his aftershave incident tweet? I thought it was a joke about being “slow” like Hodor and spraying himself in the eye with aftershave.
ScottQuote Reply
Scott, yeah but the informative part of the tweet was the “week early” part. Meaning that as of last Thur he had only a week left before he would start filming his scenes as Hodor.
That was what I took out of it anyway.

In the second Tyrion chapter of AGoT, we meet one of Tyrion’s servants, Morrec, as he tends a stewpot along the route from Winterfell north to the Wall. I don’t think that Morrec ever gets any lines, but he does show up on other occasions. When Tyrion later arrives at Masha Heddle’s inn, he has two servants with him. Neither one of them makes it to the Vale alive.

Just delivered a card to the production office. They’ve been filming today at the Paint Hall – the road’s closed etc., and tight security.
silverjaimeQuote Reply
There had better be a trailer released with Boardwalk Empire.
This military-grade security is really irking me!
shadallionQuote Reply
silverjaime, thanks for the report! I figured they were, since we had had no indications of any filming on location. Probably just shooting scenes between principal actors now, so no extras needed until tomorrow.
Winter Is ComingQuote Reply
Winter Is Coming,
Yes, I saw another intake of lucky extras going along to costume fittings (I presume) which was at about 3.30pm, and security was such that I thought there were maybe scenes between the principals…..
silverjaimeQuote Reply
I see. That makes sense.
ScottQuote Reply
Any idea WHO will be in the scenes at Tollymore? Would the scenes be outside Winterfell, or the other side of the Wall or what?
silverjaimeQuote Reply
oh oh oh !! and I almost forgot! the girl in the Prod Off asked who I was and I said I was from the Board Winter Is Coming, and she said -”yes, Laura (?looked like the boss, had her own office) was telling me all about you lot!” so – you’re famous!
silverjaimeQuote Reply
silverjaime,
Could be both.
They used Tollymore for the Prologue and for the scene with dead direwolf mum and puppies.
Thanks everyone for the Tyrion s servants and guards info :)

I was very surprised to have discovered that tidbit about the Tourney scene. I never find news!
I was actually just browsing their forums when I spotted that (sffchronicle.co.uk) because I was curious about how it compares to sffworld where I have been posting regularly for (gasp) 8 years.
Anyways, I’m not sure how much I want to read things like that in the future (I want to save at least some surprises for myself when the show airs), but I loved the description of that Mark Addy moment. I can totally picture it, and I’m certain he’ll be a great Robert.

I’m sure infamous is a better word. Laura was probably saying something like, “Don’t tell anyone any details about the production, or those crazies over at Winter Is Coming will find out about it!” ;)

A call for wildlings would seem like Osha’s entrance scene to me. Either that or perhaps they are bulking up the opening scene with a prologue to the prologue where we actually get to see Will scouting out the Wilding Village before returning with Waymar and Gared.
The tourney scene sounds badass! I really hope the wardrobe department when crazy on Finn’s armor. That scene in the book just emblazened itself into my brain with the visual imagery of all the knights. Especially Loras. I’d love to see the wardrobe department strive to soup up the armor from traditional fare a little bit. After all in the books Marting really goes overboard on some of his suits. Can’t wait to see Mr. Dance in Tywin’s plate!

So, let s continue with guessing for this week :D
Location: Ballycarry – probably for some Winterfell outdoor scene?
Which have some Lannister guards in it? Or maybe we are talking about two separate scenes/locations?
The RabbitQuote Reply
No offense to anyone here…but damn!! Is this all you do is debate about what scenes are being filmed. Following every damn tweet an actor put outs and hoping online everyday to follow the filming of the series. I know the anticipation is rather high, but you guys are a little obsessed with this!

Sorry they’re from a great distance across the fields. Tried to get down the road but tight security. However, I found another entrance which was barred but I could park and take the pics. Apparently they will be there till 8 or 9 and started about 8 or 9 this morning. Tomorrow they’ll be there again – but till late. Ballycarry again on Monday and then back to the Paint Hall. (the locals are very helpful). I was tempted to wait half an hour till they were coming out but I’ve other things to do!
silverjaimeQuote Reply
Apparently they’re filming inside a barn or something and Sean Bean is indeed there. Any ideas which scene they might be doing???

silverjaime, nice spy work silverjaime! Wonder what they are filming there? Three whole days worth of filming must be a pretty substantial scene…
