Remember those days a couple weeks back where the news was coming in drips and drabs? Those days are long gone. Fresh off this morning’s exciting announcement about Dance, comes a new Artisans video from Making Game of Thrones. This one features supervising art director Paul Inglis and covers one of my favorite aspects of production, concept art.

Winter Is Coming: Loved this video! Probably my second favorite one behind the Maisie Williams one. I just love seeing concept art. All of it looks pretty fantastic. And holy crap at that Red Keep shot! This show is going to be epic.

    Yeah this thread would be massive on any other day with Concept Art of the Red Keep and our first look at the Queens Wheelhouse (pretty much how I thought they would do it, the book description was never going to be seen, you can’t tell it’s CGI at all though) but here it is with only 9 posts.

    All these artisan videos are pure class. Love the Red Keep (although who knows how close that art is to the final design), and love Cersei’s wheelhouse.

    I’m still not happy about King’s Landing becoming a Mediterranean/Middle-Eastern type of city… but I can live with it.

    I hope someday that they release all these drawings! I know we’re going to get the real thing in a little over than a month, but I image all the concept art would be spectacular. Now I’m just imagining all the art for productions as complicated like this that never see the light of day and I think it’s a shame if the public doesn’t get to see them :(

    Mormegil, yup, I can confirm the same. I remember now seeing it in the 15 min preview at TCA. I knew it looked familiar, haha!

    The finished shot looks exactly like that concept art. Either it is a matte painting inserted into the show or the CGI artists are just really good at matching the concept art.

    Saso Alauf, yeah, it’s some weirdness with the HBO player. I have no idea why it does that sometimes. I told HBO about it and they said they would look into it, but it still hasn’t been fixed.
