If you’ll recall, last year at this time the internet was fraught with speculation over whether or not HBO would showcase Game of Thrones at the annual Comic-Con in San Diego. It didn’t work out last year, partly due to filming starting so soon after, but this year HBO has decided the event is just too big to miss again. George R. R. Martin had already semi-confirmed there would be a Thrones panel and that he would be on it. But now HBO has made it official.
They have announced that there will be a Game of Thrones panel on Thursday, July 21. The panel will be moderated by Martin and will include David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Jason Momoa, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. HBO notes that additional panelists will be announced as they are confirmed.
Winter Is Coming: Mark the date on your calendars folks. We will, of course, have full coverage of this panel.

I wonder if they might announce some new cast members there?

I’d love to see Emilia there. Unfortunately my summer vacation is already planned.

Yeah I’m thinking we’ll have our Stannis, Melisandre, Brienne and possibly Davos there too.

Jason Momoa?

Tre Svatek,
Why not? He won’t be busy. Plus, there’s that whol Conan thing happening.
Shock MeQuote Reply
I have a feeling they list Jason Momoa so that they aren’t tipping off his death next episode. They don’t need to do that for Bean because he’s already dead. My guess is that after the season finale, Jason Momoa wont be listed as a panelist in the future. It could also be that a good part of the discussion will just be about the past season.

It’s a great way for Momoa to comment on the similarities and differecnes between Drogo and Conan. Conan the Barbarain is out only a few weeks after Comic-Con and it may be that he is scheduled to already be there in connection with the Conan movie.
Spoiler city Batman!! : Announcing Jason Momoa is going to be at the Comic-Con Thrones gig will certainly lead all the non-readers who see the press release to know whether Drogo is healed by Miri Maz Dur’s spell during Episode 10….

Well shit. I was planning on going to SDCC this summer, but the plans fell through. That’s even more depressing now!

Oh, so excited for the panel! Hoping for full video coverage (:

Oh noooooo!!!!!! I have been hesitating in going to comic con or another convention I attend yearly, and I didn’t pick comic con . I sooooooooo regret now! Oh well I will watch the video coverage I guess and cry in a corner lol.

Why shouldn’t Jason go to Comic Con ?
It’s only a short way from LA and Conan will be represented there too.
And after all, he will be busy in September.

I am so freakin’ there. :)
Two things I’m probably most excited about for this year’s SDCC: meeting Martin and going to this panel.

@WinterIsComing:
Could you make that a full VIDEO coverage of that panel?? =D I live in Sweden so I cant make it all the way over to the states, not this year anyway. But would love to see the panel. What do you say? =)

I’m surprised Richard Madden won’t be on the panel. Seems like he’s quickly becoming a fan favorite.

i love how they book events/panels after its been sold out after 2 hours of being on sale a few months ago

Could we please get Jack Gleeson?
Or…WinterIsComing, try getting an interview? Pretty please? :)
The other children have gotten so many interviews, and media seem pretty intent to seek out Isaac, Sophie, and Maisie. Emilia, Kit, and Richard get their due as well.
I hope it’s not because he’s such a hated character. The guy is killing it as Joffrey!

Little bit off topic, and i am sorry for that, but I am surprised that no one is talking about GoT soundtrack which was released yesterday i think and its superb!! I never thought that i will be praising soundtrack for TV show, but this one is sooo impresive, i love it. Kudos to Ramin Djawadi. I kind of liked the music even when watching the series, but when i listen to it now in complete version which isnt disctracted by anything (sounds, voices of actors etc) its simply great!

That’s a really excellent point. WiC.net needs a Jack Gleeson exclusive!
Question: What’s it like to be the most hated character on Sunday night TV right now?
darksofaQuote Reply
Yeah for reals…is there any way to get Comic Con tickets now? Do people scalp this kind of crap? I was excited when I moved to southern CA that I could finally go, but tickets sold out long before I moved here. :/
JulieQuote Reply
What makes these kind of announcements stupid is that tickets have been sold out for six months now. Either people have tickets and they can go, or they’re going to be excited about it for five minutes as they try to find out how to get tickets then realize there’s no chance to get in.
Tickets sold out in about an hour this year once they finally worked out the ticketing system that kept crashing.
The only way to truly get SDCC tickets is to somehow get in and then buy a pass for the next year’s SDCC a whole year before. Once you get tickets, you have to keep buying them a year in advance and it makes it difficult for new people to go.
StaciaQuote Reply
My husband and I went last year and didn’t buy tickets there. However, we did buy tickets once they went on sale online with the thought that if we decided not to go we could always return them. Needless to say after we talked about it, and realized the odds for a GoT panel were pretty good (along with other panels we knew would be there like Avengers) we decided to go and I am sooo glad we did. We will try to video all we can and try to get it out there if anyone wants to see it.
There is still a chance to get tickets. The retuned tickets are put back up for sale sometime soon if they aren’t already. That’s how we were able to get Saturday tickets last year.

darksofa,
I second a Jack Gleeson exclusive on WiC! Not that i doubt WiC would want that anyway, though…
sjweningsQuote Reply
Oh and I meant to add: The tickets aren’t able to be sold through other channels because you have to give the name of the person each ticket is bought for and you have to have your ID to pick up your ticket. So the only chance there is to find someone who looks like you and has a ticket they no longer want.

I really would love to see an interview with Jack Gleeson. He is amazing as Joffrey, even if he must fear for his life now. He’s a treasure and just dominating that punk ass bi… I mean terribly difficult character to handle.
Becky WilsonQuote Reply
Thirded…or fourthed, or whatever it is by now. I think the boy Gleeson has been knocking it out of the stadium these past three or four episodes and I’d love to see an interview with him. I think his Joffrey might be my favourite character now that Viserys has left this mortal coil (and what does that say about me?).
A Bear_A BearQuote Reply
Yes, Jack Gleeson has been missing in interviews. He really needs to come out as a nice person pretty soon :)

+ 1, I absolutely hate the character, and hate it equally as bad on the show.
The kid is a really good actor :P Him and Harry Lloyd have been fantastic.
I guess all of the cast has been, Dinklage, Miltos, Bean, Emilia, Headey, Camden, The guy who plays Robb, and Varys, Dammit there are too many actos to list :P
Alwyn JosephQuote Reply
I was sort of looking foward to a panel with Lena Headey and Sean Bean on it.
But I know that Sean Bean has got to own more Noobs in pub fights … and Lean Headey has always been terrified of Comic Con Panels (Summer Glau mentioned it in a interview during Sarah Connor Chronicles)
I wonder if they’re going to show 2.1 while there or maybe a fifteen minute sneak peek?
EDIT! wait it’s this year?
NVM!

My Kingdom for a Comic Con ticket :( Why are these things always in America? You guys get everything so handy, I’m dead jealous. Still I’ll be happy if I get to see a video of the panel.
And yes, an interview from Jack Gleeson please. I’ve been saying it from the start, he’s a good little actor. I saw Batman Begins the other day. When he popped up on screen, at first I couldn’t put my finger on who it was and then, BAM POW, it hit me so hard in the face, I yelled out “Joffrey”! Needless to say I got a very strange look from my Dad but I’d forgotten that he had a few scenes in it. He’s so cute in it. “The other kids won’t believe me” or something along those lines.

Put me down for the offtopic GET US A JACK GLEESON INTERVIEW discussion. That kid is the best actor on the show, no joke. He’s actually made me, not LIKE, but APPRECIATE Joff. Not easy for such a detestable, two-dimensional character. I’m just constantly amazed at what a talented little actor he is.

A friend of mine (who hasn’t read the books) said he finds Robb to be the least compelling character, and has absolutely no interest in him (even by episode 9). He said Robb just seems like the boring firstborn doing exactly what he’s supposed to be doing.
He did seem a bit more interested, however, when I told him that Robb is only 14 in the books.

Has anyone been to SSCC (or any genre con)? Do people dress up and act ‘in character’, and is this expected/accepted or merely tolerated? Okay, pardon my ignorance, but also… are you ‘in character’ in the pizza line, the bathroom, etc lol? (Sorry, for all my geekdom I have never been to one of these things and the curiosity burns…)
Maybe one year I’ll show up all Cersei’d out ;)

Two Feathers,
XD Is it that obvious? (I have a brother, not THAT close) But yes, the Cersei attitude I can muster frighteningly easily… I think I was a gorgeous, homicidal monarch in a previous life. And in this life I am making up for it by being really (oh god it hurts) nice.
Can’t wait to see the Comic Con play-by-play here on WiC. Should be awesome, and hopefully, revealing…

OT, but the game of thrones facebook page has surpassed Boardwalk for number of likes. See here for comparisons. I was casually tracking this number throughout the series. Right before the premier, the Game of Thrones page just under 100K likes. Now we’re at 670K. :)

FWIW, I believe Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet live in NYC, not LA. I’ve seen pap photos of them walking their little ones to Central Park.

Oh I’d take a huge amount of salt with that! IMDB is not to be relied upon. I bet some bastard asked themselves “how can I screw with these mad GoT fans” and came up with this idea.
Um, I shouldn’t use the label “bastard.” That’s insulting to Jon and Gendry and the like!

drainbead,
If that’s true, I’ll eat GRRM’s hat. If it is true, that’s very impressive that they kept something that big quite for so long.

Bro,
Check out his schedule on there though. Everything’s either in post- or pre-production. Meaning… he’d be free to start filming this summer, if indeed he’s playing Stannis.
I just don’t see how they could possibly have snagged him though.
