George hints at Rorge and Biter casting
By Winter Is Coming on in Casting, Speculation.

George R. R. Martin has a new post with casting clues up at his Not A Blog. And it definitely sounds like this is for Rorge and Biter…

Cage Match Pairings

Pirate and Bully.

Dead Man and Barman.

Corporal and Potato.

Gash and Nark.

And let’s all be grateful, the big dog didn’t get bitten.

Winter Is Coming: I haven’t matched all the clues, but I’m guessing the “pirate” clue refers to Andy Beckwith, who was already been linked to the role of Rorge. He appeared in the Pirates of the Carribbean sequels. No clue who the other guy could be though…

Maybe both “Pirate and Bully” refer to Beckwith, being in PoC and Snatch. His Errol may be defined as a “bully” indeed.

If such, could we suppose the “Dead Man and Barman” is for the actor playing Biter?

So if I’m reading the pairings correctly, then:

Rorge is “pirate, dead man, corporal, gash”

Biter is “bully, barman, potato, nark”

Mackenzie Crook fits two of the criterias: he was in Skins, playing John White, a drug dealer (narc) and he was in something called Sex Lives of the Potato Men. Dunno about the rest tho.

Okay, that’s Rorge and Biter. Cage match? No question.

Pirate is Andy Beckwith, who is playing Rorge. We already know about him. I don’t know who bully is.

The “barman” clue somehow makes me think Steve Spiers is Biter. But I’m horrible at these.

I had a look at him from the previous post, but couldn’t connect him to most of the (assumed) clues for Biter. Merely physically he would be very fitting though!

Another suggestion: what about Ben Cross?

[edit: actually I don’t find anything else than the ‘potato’ clue on BC, so nevermind…)

That would mean GRRM is alternating: Rorge and Biter one line, Biter & Rorge the next. So Biter would actually be: bully, dead man, potato, gash.

Andy Beckwith and Gerard Jordan fit the pairing part of the clue, but neither seem to fit the last line. That is also part of the clue, so it must fit either both or one of them. We know Beckwith is Rorge, but Jordan being Biter is not certain unless that last line can be explained to fit either Beckwith or him.

Oh, it isn’t necessarily hard to convey feelings without speaking – to act is really about not acting, it is to turn the scripted events into reality. The only way to do that is to become your character, in your body, but more importantly, in your mind. As long as you remain your true self in your mind, you will fail to convince your audience – but as soon as you become your character in your mind, it is very easy – the rest will follow automatically. The body responds instinctively to what the mind experiences and feels. As long as you are your character in your mind, and present in the moment, whatever you do will come across as honest to the audience – regardless your using words or mere posture.

For an actually talented actor, it should prove no difficulty, or at least not very difficult.

Edit: Well, at least that is my own experience.
