Okay, that’s not really news. But it’s a great excuse, in lieu of actual set pictures, to run this sweet little pic of Robb and Jeyne—ah, I mean, Richard Madden and Oona Chaplin!
Ain’t they cute?
Oona’s part is done, at least. She posted the above pic on her Twitter account following this tweet:
Wrapped on game of thrones tonight. Sad face… Happy face however at the thought of next year. Bring. It. On. NOW!!
Oona also gave us the briefest worry a day earlier by tweeting a picture of someone with a broken hand. Come to find out it wasn’t her—and wasn’t even something that slowed down production. (What can we say, we’re production obsessed!)
She toys with us! Tricksy!
Fire And Blood: Hey, that picture is the closest thing we’ve gotten to an actual set pic with actual Game of Thrones characters, so I’ll take it. (Shame on you, MGoT!) And finishing the Northern Ireland stuff is a big deal, as Belfast is the defunct home of ‘Thrones; I still remember Kristian Nairn’s heartfelt thank-you speech from TitanCon fondly. As each location wraps, I feel April of ’12 approaching in my bones, faster and faster. To echo Oona: Bring. It. On. NOW!
I like Oona. She’s neck and neck with Finn Jones with regard to giving us tiny glimpses into production, so I think of her fondly—sort of like our adorable little actress-mascot who’s helping to give us hitherto unseen glimpses of the tale we love by taking a tiny role from our monster-sized story and making it that much bigger! Team Jeyne, anyone?

If that’s it for NI, does this pretty much confirm that the Reeds and Ramsay Snow are being left out of season 2? And what about Croatia? Have they got much left to film because I really need a Strong Belwas casting announcement!
NickQuote Reply
Croatia is done, they wrapped up a while ago. In both cases, it could mean something or nothing – there could be roles they are not announcing at all and/or some that will be featured extras, only glimpsed this season, and properly cast the next.

Filming in Croatia was wrapped weeks ago.

Finally! a cool pic to talk about, its been days and days.
Is that Lannister red she’s wearing? Anyhow they do look awesome together, I can sense some onscreen chemistry from that pic; hopefully won’t piss off Emelia (isn’t she and Richard an item at the moment?)
Can’t wait to see her swollen belly in four or five seasons.
I would betray a Frey for her, most assurdly.

Soooooo it’s basically Richard exactly as he’s in season 1 and Oona with a weird face… Well, I guess it’s something…

The photo looks great. I’m really looking forward to seeing Robb and Jeyne’s story- for me the best aspect of the series is seeing things that weren’t described in the books.

His eyebrows look wider and bushier, or his eyes have shrunk. Either way I think it’s remarkable.

Just to let you know that GoT will start on Finnish YLE (Finnish BBC) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 on TV2.
So any Finns that didn’t have the chance to watch the show on pay TV (Canal+) will get their chance soon.

If you look at the reflection in Robs eye you can see a fort that looks like riverrun and in the back ground you can plainly see a guy with a black fish on his shirt.

I always pictured Jeyne as a little less intense/intelligent than Oona appears to be. Still, I assume they’ll make it work.
Thanks for the pic. On to post-production!

I know I sound like a hater/nit-picker… but I still don’t like Oona.
I hope my opinion changes, when the show starts… but so far she seems all wrong.
LexQuote Reply
Franny Bee,
I think that’s the general assumption, but we only see a tiny bit of Jeyne from Catelyn’s eyes… I think there’s really more the the character we ever knew.

Well, all the Icelandic extras have been hired, a total of about fifty people (out of about a thousand that applied). Mainly hairy men, according to this article, but some women as well.
The article also says that filming will take place in the east of Iceland, as we know, between the 25th of November and the 12th of December.
There is also an interview with a guy who’s an extra on the show, but he hasn’t seen the first season or read the books so he’s not saying anything interesting really. There’s a quite interesting picture of him and his friend that they sent to Pegasus (the production company in Iceland), and got them the parts.

There’s barely enough time for the main characters in ten episodes. The flotsam and jetsam of second-tier faces has to be thinned out.

Sam’s pink mast,
They just told the Freys, and are daring them to say something about it.

Hey guys!!! How about we start a “how are character’s names pronounced” conversation.
Brienne: “bry-EEN” (ala Dotrice) vs “bree-ehn”
Davos: “DAH-vos” vs. “DAY-vos”
Jeyne: Just “Jane” spelled wrong I assume?
Melisandre: Dotrice’s reading makes the last “dre” syllable silent like in French (or something?)
Xaro Xhoan Daxos: ZAH-roh ZOH-ahn DAHKS-ohs (???)

Off-topic, but GoT related:
With the NBA players dumping their union the other day, they just took a huge step towards losing the entire season. Which would mean that GoT wouldn’t have to worry about going up against playoff games this year. Trying to find any bright side to get through my Lakers withdrawal.

Are we sure she is Jeyne Westerling? I was thinking, what if Robb got his own red priestess in the show? That would be a better reason for Karstark to be angry rather than Robb’s love life. And in the little dialogue we got between him and Cat, he did say she was foreign. And she’s wearing red in the photo, and it seems they are staring into a fire. Maybe its too far fetched, it’s just something that occurred to me, might be why they’re so secretive about Oona’s character.
valQuote Reply
val,
isn’t it a posed picture so she could post it on her twitter? i’m pretty sure they’re staring at the camera ;p
the red outfit got me thinking too tho.
jkbQuote Reply
Two Feathers is an insider and he said that she’s Jeyne Westerling, only a bit different than in the books.
VirtusQuote Reply
Oh okay, thanks, I didn’t know it was confirmed that she was playing Jeyne Westerling. And yeah, I guess you’re right about the picture, she wouldn’t be able to post anything too revealing now I think of it :)

Richard Madden looks very NICE!!! I do love me a scruffy man!
HildaQuote Reply
Qthulhu,
Reading the article again, I’m pretty sure he meant “de facto” and just messed up the wording.
I won’t lie, I didn’t really care for Jeyne Westerling in the books. Then again, I didn’t much like Robb either, but Richard Madden’s performance won me over. I can’t help but feel that Oona will do the same.
Sometimes change is for the better.

the goat,
Heh, that means my Mavs are still reigning champs for another year! Whooo000
I don’t think NBA cancellation means that much in terms of ratings, but I expect GoT will get a bump up rating wise for season 2 due to award show buzz and DVDs.
dizzy_34Quote Reply
Haha I second you about the Mavericks having another year as champs (I know that’s not how it works). Even though it hurts us because of our older roster. Please keep Tyson Chandler whatever the heck happens..
As for the actual topic, I’m still undecided on Oona. I always pictured Jeyne as different and not as exotic looking… worth betraying the Freys over at least. HBO feel free to prove me wrong with a Jeyne nude scene..

I wish there was a forum on this board where we could talk about different Thrones-related topics.
I just rewatched the first nine episodes, ending in Baelor. I got misty-eyed at the Sept of Baelor!
I’ve seen that episode numerous times, but it had been a while, and I watched all these in pretty quick succession, so I was pretty wrapped-up in the story. It just got me thinking of how non-book readers must have reacted when that scene came.
I have a question though:
In the books, when Ned is imprisoned in the Red Keep, does Varys come down to talk to Ned? I don’t remember.
HollyoakQuote Reply
Yes.
MormegilQuote Reply
Hollyoak, Yes he does.

Hollyoak,
Yes. As wonderful a scene in the show as in the book. Minus ToJ, unfortunately, but even so, Sean and Conleth were outstanding, one of the pillars of the show (and the book).
