The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service aired a report from the set of Game of Thrones the other day that was posted online yesterday but then removed soon after. But now the video has found its way to YouTube, uploaded by user gunnarahlidarenda (thanks to Tumblr of Thrones for the heads up). The video goes over much of the same stuff that the previous Iceland reports did, but it does give us our first glimpse at Rose Leslie in costume as Ygritte (at the 6:34 mark). Check it out!
Winter Is Coming: A bit blurry, but from what I can tell, Ygritte looks awesome. She seems much more put together than the other wildling characters, which is probably a good thing.

Very short but she seems amazing (I want to see her Ygritte’s face !)

I imagined REALLY messy hair on her, but I really couldn’t care less. This production vids are the best thing ever and I just love D&D.
EosQuote Reply
Looks like Ygritte has her hands tied and Jon is holding the other end of the rope. So can we assume that this is the scene where he’s supposed to execute her and let’s her go instead?

Also I think 4:26 to 4:28 – in costume but not in scene – right of frame with red scarf.
And it was confirmed here:-

That the Ygritte shots were the reason that the clip got pulled.

Hope they get the haunted forest right. Seems like it’d be hard without trees.

What is interesting is that apparently they are filming episodes 6 & 7 and Ygritte is already there…

I love Iceland.
Anyway, did I understand that right? The Northen scenes are 5 minutes every episode? i need more Jon Snow in my life!
Elena AmiciQuote Reply
Elena Amici,
I think they said something more like that every scene is about 5 min long, but that doesn’t mean that there’s only one scene per episode.

Ygritte *_*
Nick Larter, you’re right, it seems her indeed!
Thiago SlashQuote Reply
Yeah! Noticed that in the last Iceland set video. Probably why D&D don’t look cold.
LuanaQuote Reply
Uh-oh. I wondered if that was the case. You able to translate just the quotes? Google Translate is garbling them pretty bad.
Winter Is ComingQuote Reply
Is it just me, or did Ygritte look like she was tied up with a piece of string?
Strong BelwasQuote Reply
I hope it won’t be only 5 minutes per episode, that would be disappointing. And it seems they will introduce Ygritte pretty early. Either they will add some stuff or move some scenes from ASoS. Can’t wait to see how it will play out.
SanetteQuote Reply
well she appears in chapter 52, which is about 2/3 of the book. Considering they’ll also film a bit of aSoS for season 2 it’s not that strange.

Winter Is Coming,
Yeah google translator makes quite a mess, but icelandic grammar is quite more complicated than the english one.

It is BE season finale, are we expecting some GOT promos or a bit of footage?

i was thinking they would wait until the TCA’s in January to air a new trailer like they did last year.

Here you go Winter!
“They got clear instructions, just as other media did, to not air this character”, said Snorri owner of Pegasus. In the cultural television program Djöflaeyjan (The Devil’s Island) you could see a glimpse of a character from season 2 of Game of Thrones which the producers had stricly forbidden to be used in icelandic media coverage.
Her looks were top secret and Snorri says he is unhappy about this. “There was no written agreement, just a verbal ‘gentlemen’ agreement. Of course there is nothing we can do about it now but I will be talking to the people at RUV (national broadcasting television), this was strictly forbidden.”
Þórhallur Gunnarsson, editor of the show, says this is a unfortunate mistake. “The program was immediately taken of the web until we were able to fix it. We just missed these shots and we feel terrible about this. I have spoken with Snorri and I feel bad about this because I don’t want to let him down.”
Snorri says that everything else has worked out well. The crew had a day off on tuesday and then there was a lot of snowing. “But now the roads have been cleared and we are here at Höfðabrekku in excellent weather conditions” says Snorri. The crew departes from Iceland on 11. december

Are all the scenes from beyond-the-wall being shot in Iceland? Because they said the first episode with Icelandic scenery will be the 5th one and I can’t see them ignoring the Night’s Watch until half of the season has aired
proguersQuote Reply
proguers,
They have already shot some scenes in N.Ireland like Crasters Keep
StrongBelwasQuote Reply
No, they shot the stuff with Craster in Northern Ireland. That is episode 1-2 or something
MagnusQuote Reply
Since they have north of the wall stuff in episodes 7, 8 and 10, I think introducing Ygritte in episode 7 would make sense.
Episode 7 - Ygritte gets captured and freed.
Episode 8 – Jon discovers those nasty things in the northeners army and flees.
Episode 10 – qhorin action.

Ha! I love how she’s tied to a rope like Gollum.
I also like David Benioff’s thicker beard (to keep warm in the cold Icelandic winter?). Him and Dan Weiss look really, really cold! :)

I’ve been hoping for this.

Oh, and as for whether HBO is mad about this “top secret” leak… I say TOO BAD / WHO CARES!
By last year at this time, we had THREE teaser trailers, several artisans videos, the “Inside Game of Thrones” video, and NEARLY TWENTY high-res production photos of characters.

Hmm, I wonder if they might drag the Ygritte/Jon storyline of A clash of kings out a bit. She barely features in ACOK, and i think it might be beneficial to include a bit more of their blooming romance. Maybe Jon will drag her along with them for a while. Why would he, though? I dunno….
sjweningsQuote Reply
Knurk,
Considering that Blackwater is episode 9, I don’t know what scenes from SoS they will put in S2 ( except maybe some Jaime stuff). Just finished my reread of ACOK. After blackwater they have but one episode for Joff accepting the Tyrells, Tyrion awakening,Arya fleeing Harrenhall, Jon meeting Rattleshirt Dany meeing Arstan and Bran leaving Winterfell…. I don’t think they can put much stuff from book three in there as well…

I have to say I love David Benioff’s rugged New England fisherman look. Even though he’s not wearing a pale blue t-shirt (for obvious reasons) and oh yeah there was Ygritte somewhere.

It’s going to be hard for me to get used to the official pronunciation of Ygritte’s name. For years I’ve read it as “Y’greet”, and to find out that it’s “iGrit” is simply shocking. Guess I should’ve checked out the audio books…

Winter,
you should really put down that video here if that’s what they want. I feel kinda bad for watching it already… I only want to see what HBO wants us to see.
By the way: Have you seen David Benioff in this video? THAT’S Mance Rayder right there!!!

Yes! I love the color palette of her costumes – whites, greys, very frosty, very Northern, very Beyond-the-Wall! Also, it’s going to look great visually when contrasted against Jon’s blacks. I can’t tell because the video quality isn’t so great on my computer, but is Jon wearing his hair in a half-ponytail?

Kit Harrington has been called the next heart hugger (he who hugs hearts, in English it would be a heartbraker) of the dream city (I guess they are talking about Hollywood, they would never call the only city in Iceland, Reykjavík, a dream city) ;)

Nick Larter,
You know, once you pointed out that that was her in the red scarf, you can totally see that she’s all over this video in the background if you know what to look for. If they wanted to hide her at all, the large, white/gray fur costume and a bright red scarf probably wasn’t the way to go. lol. Thanks for the heads up!
