Clarke, Addy, Allen interviewed… and Dormer too

It feels like everything’s really starting to ratchet up now, eh? Maybe the dog days of No Info are done! Three Four recent interviews dropped; one with Emilia Clarke, another with Mark Addy, a third with Alfie Allen, and, finally, one with Natalie Dormer.

The first, an MTV video interview with Emilia, is so spoiler-free it’s safe even for your youngest child:

Yeah, not so much info. Kara Warner tried. HBO is putting on the spoiler clamps pretty tight.

The second interview—Mark Addy by the Aussie site TheVine.com—was one conducted very recently, though by reading it you wouldn’t be able to tell Addy’s character died in season one. (Or maybe we’ll see his ghost! Holy Hamlet!)

The full interview is here!

The third interview—just one of many small snippets done for EW.com—was with Alfie Allen, and has a small share of season two SPOILERS. You can read it after the break. If you’re into that.

EW: Inside TV with James Hibberd and Lynette Rice!

UPDATE: Natalie Dormer was interviewed by Red Eye Chicago. She seems to have gone to the same “How To Give Interviews Without Giving Up Spoilers” class that Emilia went to, but she does reveal that she has signed on for multiple seasons and that she is scheduled to start filming season three in the summer.

Fire And Blood: I really enjoyed the Mark Addy interview, and love the fact that people who were previously involved with the show still regard it so highly. (And chalk one up for another “I read the books” cast member!) Alfie was salivating for this season even before filming began, so you know he’s jacked. Keep it coming, HBO!

Could she have been just a bit more vague? I think I almost had an idea about something in the second season being “interesting.” lol

    David,

    Seriously!
I would understand it if it was for a country that is just airing Season 1 right now or a bit later this year, but didn’t Australia air Season over the Summer?

Its cool to see Alfie Allen get some limelight. Can’t wait to see Malahide as Balon Greyjoy. Mark Addy did phenomenal as Rob Baratheon IMHO. Emily is Emily.

I have to hand it to HBO…everyone is super tight lipped and completely loyal to the preservation of GoT. No juicy details given out by anybody.

I had to double check what animatronic was to make sure she sounded as archaic as she did.

Wow, how much good stuff are they packing into Episode 9? If EW is right, it is both Alfie and Emilia’s favorite episode of this coming season. I am really looking forward to that!

Alfie Allen and the series creators are going to let loose an incredible arc for Theon. Just you wait it will be up there with Waltin Goggins in The Shield in terms of performance. I can’t wait!

    david k,

If their building Theon up the way they are then I can see them extending his arc into season 3. My prediction: Winterfell will be taken at the end of Season 2, but Ramsay won’t make his move (or be introduced until season 3). That way the burning of Winterfell may not occur until shortly before or after the Red Wedding. That way the audience won’t see the Boltons coming until it’s too late. That’s my theory anyway.

    darquemode,

Since they mention the Season 1 DVD/BR going on sale I presume the interview was to promote that, hence not spoiling the fact that Robert dies.

Mark Addy gets a few things wrong though like saying it was Aerys who raped and killed Lyanna and that Robert is from the North which was why he could use his own accent.

    Mormegil,

Robert and Ned grew up together, it’s entirely possible Robert picked up Ned’s accent! Ned’s sounds stronger in the series.

This has nothing to do with these interviews but I just wanted to point out that GRRM mentioned on his blog that he spent the day being interviewed by HBO for Season 2 promotional material and DVD/Blu-Ray extras. Great news, I was wondering if he’d be taking part like he did for Season 1.

There’s also an interview with Finn Jones, haven’t seen it mentioned on here, it’s an informal interviewt. http://castofthrones.com/

I found it a fun interview. You really have to love his enthusiasm for the show – but anyone who has seen his twitter will know that. He talks a bit about Brienne and Margaery half way through. He also talks about his audition for Loras(which was pretty funny) and how he originally audited for Jon Snow.

“And chalk one up for another “I read the books” cast member!”

Actually, I don’t think Addy has read the books. I read his various statements about being grateful for the source material as simply that he likes to have the background for his character, which comes from the books. He clearly asked for as much source information as he could get about his character, but I don’t think he read the source material himself.

I think if Addy had read the books, he wouldn’t be so sure that Robert really thought Lyanna was raped by Rhaegar…

Actually I believe it’s been confirmed that the last scene of the show is the same as the last scene of the book, so I doubt that.

I can’t remember who said it, I think it was D&D but it might have been George.

    Joshua Taylor,

I doubt it. If they put off Winterfell being captured for that long, its not going to leave Bran and Theon much to do in the second half of the series. Plus, we pretty much know Jaime is going to escape from Riverrun before the end of the season, so Bran needs to die to give Catelyn her motivation.

Speaking of Bran, who is he going to talk to without the Reeds? Just Rickon, Osha and Hodor? He needs to learn about greendreams and the three-eyed crow or else his journey north would make no sense. Also it’s unfortunate that we’ll miss out on Jojen’s dream about the sea swallowing Winterfell.

The last link to the interview with Natalie Dormer essentially confirms a season 3 (and maybe even 4). I know we pretty much knew it was going to happen anyway, but it’s nice to hear it directly from one of the actors that she’s set to start shooting the third season this summer.

    sunspear,

    Jordan Healey,

I recall Martin mentioning that. Do consider the story may not go exactly as it does in the book. Also, call it lighting a torch for the possibility that certain characters that should have not been cut may appear in season 3.

    We shall see :-)

Very interesting the interview with Finn Jones. Beware there two big spoilers if you haven’t read the books Renly dies and Loras is still alive at this point in the books

It seems that Brienne is gonna be a highlight of the new season.

    Coltaine777,

For me, she is only good for the extent of the Jamie arc. I always found Brienne’s story rather…stale.

Also, there are a lot of people who are in love with the Bolton storyline. I really never liked Reek/Ramsay story.
