Another new trailer, “Price for Our Sins”, is now at HBO.com
By Winter Is Coming on in Media.

I believe HBO aired this one last night and just now has posted it online. It’s the latest season two trailer and it is entitled “Price for Our Sins.” We’ve embedded it below for your viewing pleasure.

Winter Is Coming: A number of new shots in this one, including our first look at Maester Cressen and the Painted Table. Perhaps most interesting was the shot of Osha near the end. What do you think that is about?

I’d taken it for Jeyne at the end (hair too neat for Osha??) but if it was Osha then it was probably after Theon’s taken winterfell and she needs to ingratiate herself with him to save the kids – didn’t we see her in bed with Theon in another trailer?

Also thought for a moment it was Brienne and Jaime fighting in the water but it looks more like gold-cloak armour and I don’t recall Brienne being in full armour in that scene.

    Second again FTW!

    …being second isn’t really a win though is it…

Just watched the trailer. Needs more Davos. But wow my god, best trailer yet maybe. This show must be a trailer makers dream, so many lines, so many characters, so much awesome.

    And Davos.

Is that perhaps towards the end of the season? When Theon takes over Winterfell, then have Osha expand her role with Kyra’s to “seduce” him followed by an escape plan for the Stark kids? That would deviate a lot from the books but would save introducing a minor character altogether.

Yeah it looks like that is what is happening with Osha. What was just mentiened above. In the books its pretty awesome, she is a tough woman that kills one of Theons Ironborn and acts like she is a trader to the Starks, but she is really just trying to help the Stark kids get away.

I still think there is a chance the Reeds can be introduced. Maybe they bump into them in the woods or something. Probably just wishful thinking on my part…

I think it would be a huge mistake not to have Meera Reed in the TV series because that’s Bran’s love interest and like I heard someone post before…. Bran needs a GF before he turns into a tree with roots growing through his body!!!

yes the osha shot is of her fucking Theon for some reason, in one of the previous trailers there was a quick shot of theon lying asleep in bed with what looked like osha next to him, and the clip in this trailer is probably from that same scene

    Drfunk,

This seems likely to me. It would be a shame not to have Kyra, since her fate may be more upsetting if the audience have seen her before, rather than random girl from the dungeons. But being realistic, it would be difficult to cast someone for a few sex scenes this series and expect the same actress to be available much later on, so she’d probably have been replaced with random prisoner girl anyway. Easy enough to have her meet Theon while both are captive and being tortured.

    Arthur,

I agree about Bran but I find it a bit creepy that he wants a 16-year-old. I mean, their age difference will be fine when he’s like, 18 or something, but now, while I find it sweet, it’s also weird! :P

    biliki,

They can cast Meera as like a 14-15yr old. Not to far from Bran’s age. IDK maybe I am making a big deal out of nothing. But I know I am not the only one that thought what the Reeds brought to the story was very important for Bran. Yeah I can see them having Meera play both her role and her brothers role in the TV series but having Osha do that would be rather boring.

Everyone has a little love thing going on but Bran? That’s not very fair. And Bran, becoming a criple, would be the character that would need that extra motivation a character like Meera Reed could bring to him the most. Bran is going to become a HUGE force in this story. Having a girl like Meera around is important for his character.

It looks kinda photoshoped to me, but maybe it’s just the cgi. Either way, it is awesome, and I hope this is real :)

    Edit:

Arthur, I looked it up and she was born in 283 and Bran was born in 290. When he’s 10, she’s 17. He is a child and she is an adult. When he is 15 it will be fine, because he will be almost a man grown, but for now it’s just platonic and thank god for that :P
But no, of course the Reeds are important! I love them. His chapters in ADWD were very sweet :)

I don’t like the moaning Melisandre part. I know they put it in there because Varys is talking about a shadow and the wall and that is the scene where she births a shadow but most of the audience doesn’t know that so it just looks like an awkward and random image of a woman having an orgasm.

Having a girl like Meera around is important for his character.

If that’s all she is, I’d rather they leave her out. There are too many women in fiction whose only role is to aid men’s characterization. Osha is a character in her own right. Meera should be too. Not just an accessory so that Bran can have a love thing. And I think the point of the text was to show Bran’s inability to comfort her. Its not about “getting the girl” its about the fact that he can’t.

    Excellent trailer.
-Melisandre giving birth to a shadow baby should be epic-ly (?) creepy. I hope the creep factor is much higher than the tent scene from season 1 where Mirri is doing black magic. It was much scarier in the book. It was over too quickly in the episode

-Interesting scene with Osha disrobing in front of Theon.

-It never ceases to make me tear up in that scene where Sansa is being stripped. That was so brutal in the book and Sophie Turner is so good at playing her humiliation

-I also never get tired of seeing Joffrey get slapped

    Meg,

I respectfully disagree. There was a lot more going on between Meera and Bran other then that last part when he was looking to comfort her.

If all you want to see in Bran’s story is him strapped to Hodor’s back with Osha walking around the woods that’s fine. I want to see character interaction and some layered development in the form of his relationship growing with Meera. Nothing against Osha but I think having Meera in Brans story will make it much richer.

I don’t mean to categorize her as a paper thin character just there for Bran. I just was focusing on her importance in Brans story. All I am trying to say is IMO Meera would make watching Brans story a lot more enjoyable and it would make things a little more cheerful, having a cute frogspear girl around, for Brans character. Bran is going through such a hard time, give the kid something!

Yep, that’s LF with a knife held to his throat by Lannister men. If I were to take a guess, I would say that’s from a scene where one of his whores, what’s her name from the 1st season, is being attacked at the behest of either Joffery or Cersie, and he tries to protest.

Meera is Bran’s love interest only in the sense that Gendry is Arya’s. There’s a major age difference and there will be no romance onscreen happening unless we jump into the future where the younger person is a lot older. Meera would be considered a grown woman (what is she, 16?) when she meets Bran and he’s a young boy with a crush on her. It’s not going to happen unless Martin creates a large time lapse and it doesn’t seem likely he’ll do that. And the idea of him warging into another person like Hodor to pull it off is pretty gross.

    JamesL,

The music for starters. Nothing we’ve seen so far can compare to the epic music the first season trailers had. Yes the visuals are often better for the second season but that’s because ACoC is a far more eventful book with far more specatacular scenes. But for me the music is half the trailer and this season the music isn’t nowhere near epic enough for a season which if it stays close enough to the book will be the most epic thing ever seen on TV. I really hope it’s just the trailers and that it doesn’t refelct on the soundtrack for season 2. Season 1 had an awesome soundtrack (best CD I ever bought) I know Ramin Djawadi can pull it off but there’s no word he’s involved with season 2. Replacing him would be a huge mistake imo.

    Ours is the Fury,

During the introduction of Meera Reed meeting Bran in the book. At that dinner table, there was a lot of staring and looking at each other. I have no doubt that there is something going on. Also, Martin made it very obvious that Bran will be slipping into Hodor’s skin to “comfort” Meera in the future, probably quite often. There is something brewing in Martin’s pot for Meera and Bran. Maybe their ages, in the books, don’t allow that for now. But also remember, Bran can skin change.

Also, where is all this technicality on age coming from? The TV series and books have the Stark kids and Dany much older. So that is not even an issue. Want to talk about technicalities, Jeyene Westerling had such a much smaller role in the books, yet the TV series is amplifying it up for Robb as his love interest.

Your point about Arya and Gendry is self defeating, although I agree with you on it. If Meera is to Bran what Gendry is to Arya then why would Gendry be cast in the series and not Meera? Seems to me that on the scale of importance, Meera would actually rank higher due to her helping Bran to simply survive.

Again, I respectfully disagree about Meera’s importance in the story to Bran’s character. I believe she is utterly important. Osha is cool but if she is taking on the role of both the Reeds in Bran’s storyline, IMO, it would be very dull and have a huge lack of layered character interactions and development. Like I said before. Bran has had his legs taking away, his family, now his home and land… Give the kid something!

    Give him Meera Reed…

I like the Dany – Jorah moment at the beginning (ugh the heartache), but as I was saying in the thread where this preview was first posted, I am still not comfortable with HBO’s choice to have Dany yell at everyone the moment she gets to Qarth. In the books she is very gracious, thankful that she’s gotten her people alive back to civilization.

Winteriscoming pointing out that the context of the scene is that the Qartheen want to see her dragons before admitting her and she doesn’t want to show them. But this is a stupid thing to do – Dany shows her dragons off in the books because she knows that they are her most powerful bargaining chip. It’s especially ridiculous to have her saying she’s going to burn them alive because they want to see her dragons?? This makes her look like a hothead idiot rather than the shrewd politician she shows herself to be in book 2.

    Everything looks fine, as usual.

Just a little nitpicking… since last season they have had Daenerys quoting her name as “Daenerys Stormborn” when they’ve never explained how she got that nickname. A sentence like “I was born during a storm that destroyed my father’s fleet” would be enough to tell the audience why she’s named like that. We got the same situation last season with Ned whispering “Baelor” to Yoren. “Who or what the heck is Baelor?”, the newbies would think.

They should be a bit more careful with those detailes, but as I said, it’s just nitpicking :)

    Arthur,

Personally I think Jeyne is more important to this part of the saga (Season 2/ Book 2) than Meera honestly. Despite having little page time in the books, Jeyne is important enough to Robb to marry her. That of course sets events in motion….

Meera’s importance could grow dramatically in the future books though. So far Bran’s storyline has been secondary at best to the rest of the Starks (except Rickon of course).

Meera could almost be left out for another season if they find a way to have Bran meet up with her later. It would mean one less actress needed for a season or two and that is a good thing for cost and for the non-devotees that have a hard enough time keeping track of the 90+ roles already in the series.

Personally I currently have no issue with the Reeds not being in the series. Unless they have a greater role in the future books (and Meera certainly may), I would not miss them.

Arthur: then why would Gendry be cast in the series

Not that I don’t want Meera to appear in the series, but I see Gendry as more important/relevant to the story of Westeros as far as we know it:
    - bastard of Robert, along with Edric he could have a claim on the Iron Throne (or at least House Baratheon) if Tommen and Stannis are taken out of the picture
    - He later has a life away from Arya, and importance for the Brotherhood and later Brienne

    Arthur,

I think the Reeds provide some of the best Fantasy elements of the saga outside of dragons of course. I also wonder if that may be the very reason they could get left out too. Many, if not most of the Fantasy elements of the series have been left out … Like the colored armor and weapons, the brightly colored hair etc.

I am not one of those people that eally enjoyed the Reeds, but I always felt they may be the key to a certain bastard’s parentage seeing as their dad is the on ly surviving witness to events at ToJ. That is why I might keep them in the story I guess. however they have downplayed ToJ so far in the TV series…. Guess we will find out next year if they make the cut list…

Spoiler-blocking all of this, just in case (and it’s about Jon, not the Reeds, for the record):

And if ToJ makes the cut, as well. I mean, I don’t see, honestly, when they’re going to have time to ever hint at Jon’s parentage, with all the crap we have to deal with in the present. Thus far, we only have “but you have my blood” and Robert’s bitching about how Rhaegar stole Lyanna away from him, but neither of those things is even remotely conclusive. I would have loved a short scene in the dungeon S1 that indicated, somehow, Ned wished he could talk to Jon one more time — 10 seconds at most — but I guess we had to move forward.

I was told that non-bookies already figured out that R+L=J (how, I don’t even remotely know, because in show canon thus far that’s really, really, really pushing it) but for the slower people or the people that don’t discuss the show on the internet, it’s going to come clear out of nowhere. And it’s going to seem stupid. I’m hoping D&D take some time out to make it beat-it-over-your-head obvious that this Wylla chick is not Jonny’s mum, or perhaps that Ned was not his dad. Perhaps we’ll meet Wylla, eventually?

Of course, that’s all if the theory is even true! There’s still a tiny chance GRRM will pull something out last minute in the books that fits all the pieces and isn’t even remotely what we were expecting. Who knows? D&D figured out Jon’s parents during production and George was said to be “pleasantly surprised”, iirc. I’m not sure George would be surprised if it was something as obvious in the books as R+L, but again, who knows?

I sure don’t. I always thought Jon to be Robert’s son, but as I kept on reading that made less and less sense, and I don’t want that gormless boy in MY clan, anyway. ;)

    userj,

We haven´t yet seen a trailer that shows us how Danny deals with Qarth so we can´t make assumptions although we both read the books and we know what will happen. Don´t forget that a lot of people haven´t read the books and the trailers are a way to promote the series not real episodes. It´s true she goes to Qarth to gain allies, but the negotiations failed because they only want her dragons so yes she needs to be careful , not careless. Yes its true she needs to show off her dragons but to a certain point .

Having said that I am very interested to see Quaithe as she is very important to Daenerys. She will make the famous prophecy in this season “To go north, you must journey south, to reach the west you must go east. To go forward you must go back and to touch the light you must pass beneath the shadow. ” This prophecy will influence Dany choices. I have a theory that in order for her to go to Westeros she will travel through Asshai first and arrive in Westeros through the east.. I had to put that out of my chest.

lonas: We haven´t yet seen a trailer that shows us how Danny deals with Qarth so we can´t make assumptions although we both read the books and we know what will happen.

I’m not really making assumptions – Dany is shown yelling at these people she just met “I WILL BURN CITIES TO THE GROUND,” and “WE WILL BURN YOU” and apparently this occurs because they ask to see her dragons. Even if she steps back from that later, it’s a hell of a place to start negotiations.

Who knows though? I’d be happy to be proven wrong. Maybe the Qartheen really say something horrible to her to start this tirade, that it’s more than just asking to see the dragons.

It´s true she goes to Qarth to gain allies, but the negotiations failed because they only want her dragons so yes she needs to be careful , not careless. Yes its true she needs to show off her dragons but to a certain point .

Yes the negotiations fail, but without her dragons they would never have even gotten started. And my point is book Dany would know better than to cuss out people that she just met simply because they make a request. She seems stupid and childish here.

I have a theory that in order for her to go to Westeros she will travel through Asshai first and arrive in Westeros through the east..

It’s a popular theory, and any way that Dany gets to Westeros is fine by me. However, apparently George said in an interview that we will never see Asshai, so it may not happen. PErsonally, I’m really fed up with Qaithe after aDwD. Her new prophecies basically amounted to DON’T TRUST ANYONE which was hardly helpful.

A lot of people have been speculating that Osha could take over the roles of the Reeds in the books for the TV show. So do they also think that Rickon is going to go to Skagos alone? I dont see how that is possible, so i believe that Osha has to go with Rickon simply because there is no else left. That also means that Bran and Hodor will need some sort of guide to get them to the cave. I’m using this thought process to help convince myself that there is hope for Meeta and Jojen in season 3.

Where did you get “pleasantly surprised” from? I don’t remember that and I checked it in an interview. It goes like this:
The first was winning over Mr. Martin in a lunchtime meeting that was mostly collegial, but where Mr. Weiss and Mr. Benioff were quizzed about the parents of Jon Snow, a “Game of Thrones” character of mysterious lineage. (“We had a whole conversation about it,” Mr. Benioff said, “and George was pleased that we got the answer right.”)

I agree, of grrm has future plans for meera, OSHA could still take the twins role, and bran can meet up with meera down the road, which will bran time to hit puberty, and once that happens, find a youthful looking actress, so of bran and meera get together, it won’t look weird

    darquemode:

Unless they have a greater role in the future books (and Meera certainly may),I would not miss them.

I think I can understand the whole Reed obsession angle. While I have considered both arguments for their removal/staying in, there’s no reason we can’t bring them in later. Elaine,

It would be awesome for Maester Lewin to survive, because I love the character, but I can’t imagine him being of as much use to Rickon as a wildling like Osha when faced with cannibals and unicorns (*shiver*) I’m praying Meera and/or Jojen somehow make it into Bran’s storyline. I don’t even mind if they make them into one character—a greenseeing girl or boy who is great at catching fish with a spear and who can teach Bran things about the children of the forest

Random thought: GRRM never gave us POVs of Essos characters. Maybe Game of Thrones can do this for us and give us a glimpse of places only mentioned in passing by characters in the books. I’d love to see Skaagos, the place the Ibenese are from, Lys, etc. So many possibilities.

Before and after Luck on HBO tonight, they played a new “In Two Weeks” teaser for Game of Thrones. It combined mostly shots from the previous teaser, like the one of Shae on the balcony looking out over Kings Landing, with what appeared to be some new shots. They go by very fast, but there was one of what appeared to be Bronn and another at the end which might have been Ygritte firing a bow, possibly some other new ones as well mixed in there. The trailer playing that song “Seven Devils all around me”, or however it goes is different then the original Seven Devils trailer. They inserted the scene of that Direwolf CGI that I was so pissed about, but the added like another 2 seconds to it and Grey Wind snarls and snaps his mouth shut in a threatening act wolfs do to intimidate. So it actually looks natural and very high quality…

Hmmm, looking at this trailer, and when Robb says “no matter where he runs, we will hunt him down…” Reference to Theon? Is he talking to Jeyne there? He’s wearing the same outfit (no armor) and it appears to be the same clothing he wears when him and Jeyne are making out. I’m guessing this is when he gets the news about Bran and Rickon, and that leads them to the makeout sesh, much like in the books where she comforts him.

I totally agree with everyone who says the Reeds are redundant.

The books and the show are different things. In the books we see the characters pretty much only through Bran’s eyes. This completely skews our perception of them. They have things to do only in relation to Bran. In order to become interesting and developed characters on the show we would need to spend time with them. Time is short.

We already have Osha, and let’s face it, the tv Osha is already awesome! By making her the Reeds Bran loses none of the education they gave him. It also adds further depth to the Wildlings.

I do agree with those who say it would make him seem sadder because he has no chance of “fun” but on the show I don’t think that is a bad thing. Bran’s story is ultimately tragic anyway.

PS The MElissandre shadow-baby shot is way to random be in the trailer. Brienne looks more awesome in every frame!

Also, Bran is 8 in the books whereas Meera is 15-16, so Meera can be Bran’s platonic love, but Meera CAN’T feel atracted to Bran. Please, is disgusting. Do you know any 15-16 year old girl that is romantically attracted to an 8 year old ???

In the show Bran is 10, so I guess it would be possible to introduce a 12 year old Meera on season 3, but if there’s no love story in the book, there won’t be one in the show. It makes no sense. I’ve taken to the soapbox regarding the Reeds many time in the past, so I might as well go for it now. I really do think they (or at least one of them) should be included in the series. If they don’t, I foresee, like a lot of other fans do, that Osha will stick with Bran/Hodor and Luwin will live to take Rickon somewhere. Which is, if you must eliminate the Reeds, a pretty good adaptation. Especially because we can then get more of Donald Sumpter’s Luwin. :)

First, regarding Meera and Bran: She is not his love interest, at least not yet. Bran’s interest in her is just a crush, and a very innocent one at that. She’s 16, and he’s what, somewhere around 8-10? I think Bran develops feelings for Meera not because he’s starting to get into girls, but rather because of how she treats and cares for him. Think about how Bran would see it. He’s been abandoned by nearly all of his family. His father and sisters rode south, never to return. His brother went off to war. His mother left to support her family elsewhere. Jon left for the Wall. In come the Reeds, and they swear to stand by him no matter what. Meera becomes a caretaker, watching out for him, feeding their party, etc. So Bran is probably subconsciously reacting to that, which makes him develop a very strong attachment to her.

Second, on why the Reeds are important. They are Bran’s peers. Bran’s story is really a coming-of-age tale. And while that can still be true without the Reeds, it won’t be nearly as powerful. Osha, if she were to take the place of the Reeds, would be a chaperone. She can guide and comfort all she wants, but she is still an adult, and an authority figure. The Reeds are Bran’s peers. They are children, and through his interactions with them, and having to band together to figure out their plans, Bran comes of age. With the Reeds, Bran isn’t a child being ferried around by two adults. He’s a child, with other children, who has to throw his voice into the discussion of how they’re going to achieve their goals. Think of all the classic coming-of-age stories you know, and I venture most of them are kids sorting stuff out amongst themselves and not kids figuring stuff out while they have adults around to lead them.

  105. Arthur

    Lina,

I totally agree with you Lina. Maybe I should have used that word “crush” rather then romance. That way I would have navigated past all these people being so upset about their age difference. When I said romance I did not mean anything sexual or adult. Not like the Dany/Drogo romance, geez! So I should have said that it seemed Bran had a crush on Meera and Meera also had an interest in Bran. Yeah, I know Bran is just a little kid to Meera but he is also a lot more then that to her. He is her Lord and she knows, through her brothers greendreams, that he may be destined to become her peoples savior and really make a difference. So that being said, when she looks at him, she doesn’t see a broken little boy. She sees something much more powerful.

I really feel like the Reeds were placed in the book by Martin to act as as Bran’s guide. Not just guide a through the woods to the wall and beyond, but a guide to help him understand his powers. His guide to give him the motivation needed to look past all his loss and continue and go fourth in search of the three-eyed crow. I personally was excited to come to Bran chapters so I can see how Bran’s relationship was developing with Meera. I wasn’t thinking anything was going to happen in the adult sense. I could tell there was a somewhat mutual interest there between them, despite their age.

In the books it is very clear that the Meera/Bran relationship will evolve. It may evolve to something very awkward and “Martinish” with Bran slipping into Hodors skin to hold her and lay with her. How else would he comfort her? This was also hinted at, at the end of ADwD. Martin will not shy away from that if that is what he feels Bran and Meera will do, and I have a feeling it is pretty obvious to me, that is what is going to happen in the future. For all intensive purpose, Meera is Bran’s girl, in a “Crushing” sort of way. It would be a shame if the producers decide to keep away the one good thing Bran has found through all his hardship. She can really bring him strength and motivate him to succeed through all his turmoil.

All this is just my opinion, backed up from what I took from the books and I am sticking to it! If you do not feel this I totally understand. This is my POV on the importance of Meera Reed to bran’s character development. =)

Meera and Jojen don’t act like children at all during the books. They are adults for all purposes. I don’t think someone is portrayed less children-like than Jojen in all the series. And Osha is not an authority figure for Bran…she is little more than a slave and he is the Lord of Winterfell.

Actually, she is much younger on the show than in the books, she could pass perfectly for a 16-18 year old (Emilia Clarke is 26 for ex). I think when they cast Natalia Tena for the part they had that in mind already, so if they plan to use Osha as a substitute of Meera & Jojen, that will work as good as in the books (if not better) .

Another matter is that we would lose Jojen as a character.I really like him, but his Shakespearen persona is one that works best in books. So I just realize that not only I don’t mind if they cut the Reeds, but I actually much prefer it if they do :-D

    Arthur

Do you really think Meera would like to lay with Hodor?? Yikes :S

Bran and Meera, never gonna happen. He is 8, she is 16. He just won’t have time, really. And I refuse to contemplate any warging solutions for this conundrum…too disturbing. That wouldn’t end well, at all. I always though Meera and Jon would make a good couple though, but I don’t think that will happen either.

I finished a blog post breaking down the trailer and comparing it to the books.

Thanks in advance to anyone who reads and please let me know what you think if you get a chance. I particularly welcome diagreements / corrections from you guys because you are so knowledgeable as a group.

For winter’s initial question I thought:

At 1:17 we see Osha undoing her clothing in front of someone. An armored man stands behind her. He looks to be one of the Ironborn raiders we saw at 1:14. I think Osha is undressing for Theon here after he takes Winterfell. In the book he sleeps with a servant named Kyra in A Clash of Kings chapter 51 Theon IV so it seems her role might have been given to Osha. This shot makes me think that I am more likely to be mistaken about Theon being with the Captain’s daughter in “The More You Love” at 0:52 and that Osha was in that shot too. Which seems to have been the conclusion of some of you guys here too.

GRRM might make a epilogue at the end of book 7 where he has some time pass. Did he completely rule out any time pass between 5 and 7?

Pau Soriano: My thoughts exactly. He doesn’t have time, really. For that to happen at least 6 years should pass, making him 14 and her 22, and I don’t see how that is possible

    Meg,

Give the whole, “women are only sex objects for the men of Westeros”, song and dance a rest already. Hey perhaps, they should make the whole series with gender-inspecific characters with uni-sex names like Pat, Bobby, Tracy, Stacy, Morgan, Jayden, and Kim; that would be great TV!!

Psst, scoot in here, I’ve got a secret for you, WOMEN ARE SEX OBJECTS IN WESTEROS!!

Another great trailer! Stannis looks so bad ass, and Brienne…damn it I can’t wait…just got my HBO subscription going…and my family has taken away my freaking DVD set and are even now engorging themselves on Season One! Maybe I should tell them to bend the knee or I’ll break them…if I don’t get it back!

    Arthur,

Uhh, I didn’t mean that sort of crush. I think Meera Reed would be weirded out MORE if Hodor tried to cuddle her than if Bran did. :/ I wasn’t trying to suggest that Bran feels any sort of possession or romance toward Meera. Quite the opposite actually – that she’s essentially a surrogate mom/sister and that he has subconsciously reacted to her sticking by him when others, in his eyes, have abandoned him.

    Pau Soriano,

I think we’re looking at it different ways. I respect your opinion, because I think you’re definitely right about the Reeds not acting like children. And obviously Osha, in terms of societal hierarchy, has no authority over Bran.

I was looking at it like this: the Reeds ARE kids, no matter how mature they may be, and Osha IS an adult, regardless of her role. Even Natalia Tena’s Osha, who is much younger than book Osha, is still an adult. That said, the Reeds – Bran’s peers, other children – provide an atmosphere for character development that an adult could never provide. I.e., you could be a child and have an adult in your life who really understands you, who appreciates your childlike wonder, who gets it…but what that person provides will still never compare to the education you’ll undergo with people your own age.
