The HBO schedule was a little slow in getting this info up but now it has been updated and the title for episode three is listed as “What Is Dead May Never Die.” Bryan Cogman is the writer on this episode and the director is Alik Sakharov. The run time is listed at 53 minutes. Keep an eye on our season two episode guide for continued updates on all the episodes details.
Winter Is Coming: As a huge Greyjoy fan, I approve of this title!

So excited about this! Bring on the Ironmen and the Kraken’s Daughter.

Love it!

So what do you think it refers to?
The sack of Winterfell?
purplejillyQuote Reply
No, it would be way too early for that, probably just Theon arriving at Pyke, getting groped by his sisters and maybe the reveleation of Balons Evil Plan as the cliffhanger. Additional “death”-themed character arcs of the episode will be with Arya and Robb, and maybe some “skirmishes” around Crasters Keep. Yeah, I guess Crasters Baby Stories fit in nicely with that title…
HertoloQuote Reply
Shame it wasn’t called “Rhymes with Freak.”
Theon GreyjoyQuote Reply
purplejilly, It’s what the Drowned God priests say when they baptize people. So this ep will probably show Theon’s arrival at Pyke, the baptism scene we’ve seen in all the trailers, and then his first meeting with his dad.
AndrewQuote Reply
This ep is probably not balon’s first appearence. The picture released for Balon by HBO was said to have been taken from episode two, I believe. This is probably something to do with or salty friends, just not sure what.
John JulianoQuote Reply
John Juliano, You are right. Maybe the baptism will take place after Theon has learned of his father’s plans, as a sign of commitment. But they do sometimes reshuffle which scenes are in which episode, so the info we got from the publicity photo metadata a month ago is not guaranteed to be accurate.

Alik Sakharov + Greyjoys, I cannot begin to describe my excitement!
My TV might not be able to handle this level of awesomeness.

purplejilly,
Way, way too early for that. Most likely Theon arriving at Pyke and meeting with Aeron, or the drowned priest I guess for the show. He’ll probably utter the phrase at some point. From what I remember of the book, episode 3 sounds about right for this, and they’ll probably cram Asha here too even though it happens a bit later. The first two episodes they’ll probably want Theon with Robb. I don’t even expect Pyke to take up the majority of the episode. Episode 3 in season one was called Lord Snow, but it featured more of King’s Landing than the Wall.

Duh! It totally means the death of Ned Stark!!!! – Troll

Most nervous about: the Asha/Yara character – I hope this actress knocks it out of the park after all the speculation about her suitableness for the character. Asha is one of my favorite characters from the book, and since she gets more important as time goes on, I hope she isn’t one of the characters that gets played down or eliminated in the inevitable Game of Adaptation that television requires. I am dying for a pre-episode shot of her as Asha/Yara, though. The suspense is killing me.

While it is of course primarily to do with the Drowned God religion, the full saying- ‘What is dead may never die, but rises again harder and stronger’ could also be applicable to wights. Maybe we’ll see some.

Anyone seen this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=5kyGHSa_fzA&feature=endscreen ?
Is that an officially official teaser?) Looks stylish enough.

this. Plus, it’s a cool title. Go greyjoy!

Leonid Kavardakov,
its a teaser from HBO Latin America

I don’t even like the Greyjoys in the book, but I am excited to see Balon and Asha brought to life, and I have to say, though he looks nothing like the Theon I pictured in the novel, I think Alfie Allen is doing a good job with the role.

what are the run time times for the first 2 episodes? [ hopefully >1h, fingers crossed!] herp derp
HERP-DERPQuote Reply
All episodes are listed with 53min so far if I remember correctly, that’s lead me to the conclusion that they don’t really know how long those episodes are gonna be. D.B. Weiss said in the interview posted in the last post that they are still busy editing the episodes. So with post-production still in progress they can’t know how long they’ll end up being so they just write 53min because that’s maybe the average HBO time.
G_LeeQuote Reply
Ep2 The Night Lands is listed as 54 Mins so I’m guessing these are the correct times.
MormegilQuote Reply
53 minutes? Come on boys, if you’re only lighting up 10 episodes give us the full bore!

S02E01 – 53min
S02E02 – 54min
S02E03 – 53min
If they’re listed in the shedule, they should be completed.

Not a book-Greyjoy fan at all but I have to admit that I started re-reading Theon’s chapters for the first time after I had seen TV-Theon.
Got the feeling this is going to be the same with the whole Davos/Stannis/Mel storyline after Season 2 airs..
Here’s an Access Hollywood interview with Kit Harington.

I was rewatching season 1 episodes in prep for season 2.. and there’s this question I’ve always wanted to know the answer to: in episode 8 when Syrio is defending Arya against the Lannisters, after he knocks most of them down.. why does he continue fighting with the wooden sword and not exchange it with one of the steel ones on the ground? herp derp
HERP-DERPQuote Reply
HERP-DERP,
because he’s not accustomed to fighting with heavy swords, he’s so badass that he’s better with a wooden stick.

I ADORE THIS TITLE!!!
I was reading that chapter yesterday, it has so many good lines in it!

Not Today,
I am curious about the White Walkers appearing in the second season. Will they show the beginning of the Fist of the First Men battle?
Black LionQuote Reply
Black Lion, there has been some speculation about whether that will be the case, but there is more solid information that Jon sees one of the Walkers come for Craster’s sons. This would be when Jon says in the new trailer, “I saw… something.”
AndrewQuote Reply
Leonid Kavardakov,
That is AWESOME!
Thanks for linking that I had not seen it.

Andrew,
I know a lot of people have issue with that scene, but honestly I think it sounds pretty good, if it happens. There are a lot of event sthat happen outside of the POV perspective that are nice additions to series and add a lot to the saga in my mind!
It helps to explain the Crastor dynmic and should make for some good frightening (or creepy) TV!
darquemodeQuote Reply
Andrew,
Oh right, now I remember. Thanks!

I like ”The Iron Price” as a title, but I prefer the actual one.
”What is Dead may Never Die…” is one of the catchiest lines in aCoK imo, and one of my favourites! It’s kinda epic and chilling and fits the Iron Islands’ religion and lifestyle perfectly. Oh. And Theon.

Maxwell James,
I’m rooting for ‘House of the Undying’ as well.
Interesting to see if they do use ‘A Clash of Kings’ at some point. If it’s not Episode 1 or Episode 9, I’m guessing Episode 10 is the logical point for it.
Adam WhiteheadQuote Reply
HERP-DERP,
In fact we don’t know what Syrio did after Arya left him (neither in tv show or book)…. so i think is probably that Syrio scape from Meryn Trant by using a steel sword and Meryn didn’t say anything for shame…
altdaveQuote Reply
Ohm some of us have theories, long, invovled, book spanning theories…And we will be waiting breathlessly for clues this Second season…As to whether Syrio lives, and who else he might be!
purplejillyQuote Reply
Upon you mentioning theories, I had one sprout in my head (though I’m sure it’s similar to others). So I am very curious to hear what some of those theories are.

It’s sad that people associate that saying with solely the Greyjoys rather than acknowledge the blatantly obvious inspiration derived from Lovecraft’s C’thulu Mythos.
