OAW Commander-In-Chief Larry Williams is back at it, assembling his alliance of awesomeness and ratcheting up expectations for season 2 of Game of Thrones. In the latest offering from his You Tube page, titled “Game of Thrones Season 2 Expectations,” Larry lets us know he’s still on the bandwagon, locked and loaded and ready to roll.
Fire And Blood: Sort of sucks that he was spoiled about a certain part of A Storm of Swords. Luckily, 8,427 other insane things happen in that book, so really, he’s only gotten a taste. And we’re not even there yet, show wise. Can’t wait to hear his thoughts after April 1st!
Larry, thanks for the shout-out, chief! My only response is: “Stannis! STANNIS! STANNIS!”

This is hilarious, especially the part about brotherly love between Renly and Stannis.

I like this guy. He’s so into the series. Too bad he was spoiled. I’ve always wondered where his moniker/name comes from.

I wonder why he thinks the Sealord of Braavos will play a prominent role this season. Is he thinking of Balon Greyjoy?

Sindragosa,
That or Salladhor Saan maybe.

As always with Larry, he makes hilarious errors. But I am very impressed by his expectations and predictions, they are much closer to the actual story of CoK than I thought they would be.

I saw that last night and I must say I’m really looking forward to seeing his thoughts on the series. Everybody was wondering how a viewer who hasn’t read books would react to the show and Larry is a voice of all those viewers. His “They killed my nigger Ned” rant represents precisely what most of the readers felt as Ned lost his head.
Ivan PopićQuote Reply
Magnus,
My thought was that he could have confused the Sealord with some of the lords and whatnot that Daenerys runs into. Like the Spiceking or other luminaries of Quarth.
Peter JørgensenQuote Reply
As entertaining as his videos are, they’ll never be as great as the first one
Too many people tried to help him along, and giving things away, instead of letting him work it out on his own
And spoiled about aSoS – bummer

Larry is gonna shit when the shadow kills Renly. Seems Larry is a Renly supporter, so I can’t wait to see his reaction to that. It’s definitely going to be the biggest “WTF, holy shit” moment in season 2.
OKENOQuote Reply
I guess he’s confusing ‘Davos Seaworth’ with Syrio Forel, aka ‘first sword of Braavos’.
TimdorionQuote Reply
Given that he can’t use most of the online resources because they’re crawling with spoilers, I think he’s doing a pretty good job with keeping most things straight. It’s interesting to observe as well, because we’re so used to the legions of ASOIAF characters that it’s good to have a reminder of how complicated it all is to new viewers.

I love Larry, I love his down to earth-ness, and I love that despite how popular his show has become, he still just sits in a chair with the window behind him, and tapes. I guess he’s at his computer desk – I would be so self-conscious about it all, I’d be hanging up a sheet or something behind me, to make the background look good. Instead, he just goes for it, and I think that shows off his natural confidence. Go Larry!
purplejillyQuote Reply
Such a shame someone spoiled parts of the story for him.
FlourideQuote Reply
No, he spoke of Syrio when he was talking about Sealord of Braavos who is joining the fight in Westeros – that could either be Balon Swann or Salladhor Saan, my money is on the first one as I think he got that mixed up due to the trailers and I don’t recall Saan appeared there.
Ivan PopićQuote Reply
He has a pretty good attitude about it, though. Like he said, he doesn’t know the “how” or the “why,” so there’s that.
I so enjoy the non-reader posts. They make for the best Tweets.

I wonder on what part exactly he got spoiled of book 3? As we know there is our very favourite RW shocker but he keeps saying it takes place at the end of book 3 which leads me to some other suprising things that might be the “big shocker” he refers to, as he does not know what other big shockers are coming for him ;)
MichaelmannQuote Reply
When he was on podcast of Ice and Fire he said he got spoiled by book covers – he saw a character mentioned on a book cover so he knew he is still alive by that book…

Pretty sure he’s referring to the Red Wedding when he says ‘the end of book 3′. It’s such a shame he got spoiled. But yeah, can’t wait to see his reaction after ep.4. Love him, love his reviews, love the way he messes up names sometimes. :)

People are acutely aware of the possibility of that, since I think this site was one of the first to speculate on it. But this is a reference to the probable end of next season, which isn’t confirmed yet. We have a whole other season to concentrate on right now.
Honestly, I never got this guy before. I really only started paying attention to his videos when he FREAKED OUT over Ned’s death (which was hilarious). Watching this video was pretty funny! He’s so enthusiastic, I love it. I mean, it’s kind of long, lol, but he’s just so into it. I wish this was a Skype call instead of a YouTube video, because I feel like an actual discussion with him about the series would be endlessly amusing.
Maybe Simone can do it on the Daily Raven? Get on that, FaB!

I really hope thats how it is. Especially because It appears that he thinks the shocker happens at the end of book 3 which would lead him to the conclusion that the death happens in season 4, not 3 which i don’t think will happen. So maybe he will still be shocked and maybe he does not know about catelyns fate either and how the corpse is violated in sardistic ways etc.
I still hope for him to rage out! ;)

thanks magnus. im am in a very small minority (alone? lol) who thinks that 10 eps were sufficient for season 1 and probably 2. so i am skeptical of the need to split the third book, at a time where the indulgences and lack of storytelling discipline that would later threaten the quality of martin’s work start rearing their ugly heads. the benefit of the shorter seasons is to force a tighter narrative.
also think that fans of the book tend the underestimate tv audience’s need for resolution.
at the same time, it’s good news because it increases the (still small) chance that winds of winter will be available by the time the show would have otherwise run out of material.

qwerty,
aSoS is significantly longer than the first two books and has a lot of important events in it. We (or they) don’t know how they will do it either. Maybe they will include some parts of affc into season 4 for instance. They have stated that they are adapting aSoIaF as a whole, not necessarily one book pr. season.
By the way I also agree that 10 episodes were sufficient for each of the first two seasons, but aSoS is just so much more complex.

In EW’s new interview with David and Dan
they talk about splitting the 3rd book into two seasons, and also about the rumor of them shooting seasons 3 and 4 concurrently. They mention that that it’d “be more efficient”, but harder to write. I thought this was a foregone conclusion, and couldn’t figure out if they were going to take a year off from filming after next year or keep filming a season ahead or something. I’m glad I can stop wracking my brain about it now. :p It took up SO MUCH of my headspace, you guys don’t even know.

yeah, I believe the Kingsmootchapters all happened during aSoS’s timeline. If they plan on keeping that in it would be wise to do it at the end of season 4 I think.
KnurkQuote Reply
Well I don’t think they can shoot continuosly because they will probably want to shoot seasons 5&6 toguether (unless shooting seasons 3&4 back to back is a disaster).
In order to do that, they will need to get the greenlite for those 2 seasons, and althought it’s possible they can get it after season 3 premieres, it’s more logical HBO executives wait ’till the ratings of season 4, just to be safe. ;)

He mentioned he’s curious about the motives of Varys and Illyrio. I myself (having read all five books) still don’t really get why either of them would care who rules Westeros. Do we think this is something that Martin intends to explain, or are we supposed to already understand, or is this particular bit of character motivation something we’re supposed to accept as just so?

Michaelmann,
There could be any number of spoilers from Storm of Swords, so it’s hard to say what it is. I’m hoping it’s not the Red Wedding, because I really wanted to see a similar reaction to Ep. 9 of the tv show. (Does that make me sadistic bastard or what?) He doesn’t sound like he’s been spoiled about the Red Wedding , though. He could be talking about Tywin’s memorable ending, or Jon Snow becoming Lord-Commander of the Night’s Watch, or maybe even Joffrey’s death, though that’s not necessarily at the end. It seems to me much more likely that these would be spoiled rather than the Red Wedding, because who would want to miss out on that reaction?
sjQuote Reply
I actually thought what he got spoiled on was Lady Stoneheart. It could be the RW too since that’s what trolls love to spoil people about. He probably knows who dies but not how it happens.
TheBullQuote Reply
He was spoiled with RW. People are reading too much into it because he says that it’s at the end of the book. He’s mistaken about that, which is a good thing, because it’s an indication that he wasn’t completely spoiled.
I was there. I was subscribed to his channel at the time, and was reading all of the comments to his reviews, which is how he got spoiled. I saw the spoiler, the eventual anger, etc. and the eventual deletion of it.
Besides, he says outright that it’s the “big shocker”. No other scene even qualifies. And he also says that he wants to know “how and why”, which doesn’t make so much sense with the other possibilities.

Yeah, I don’t get it, either. There could be many reasons, maybe some personal ones, but I don’t think we’ve ever gotten any hints at all as to why either of them cares if a Targ is on the Throne.. Watching S.1 Ep.9 again, when Varys talks to Ned in the dungeon, he’s emphatic about how he serves “The Realm”, and wants Ned to serve the Realm as well..
And I’m not sure how Aerys served the Realm better than Robert, except he didn’t owe the Lannisters a ton of money when he died..

Exactly. The same thing happened to me, but it wasn’t a commenter on YouTube. It was an actual media “recap” of one of the preceding episodes. I was so mad, and knowing that it would be nearly impossible to avoid spoilers for the other books for the years that it would take for the series to catch up (and because I wanted to know what happened to my favorite characters), I blew through all five books over the summer.
As for the spoiler, I’m fairly sure that it was the RW. I can’t imagine that he would be emphasizing that he had been spoiled if it was just about Tywin’s death or something else. Other than Ned’s execution, it’s the biggest plot twist in the whole series (though, honestly, I saw it coming because of the leeches that Stannis threw into the fire–as soon as Balon Greyjoy fell off that bridge, I knew Robb and Joffrey were in trouble. I can’t wait to see his gleeful reaction to Joffrey’s death and Cersei’s arrest.
