Two more promos provide new S2 footage
By Winter Is Coming on in Media.

HBO aired two more promos last night, before and after the season two premiere of Game of Thrones. One was a new trailer which incorporated some quotes from the many glowing reviews of season two, the other was a teaser of what is to come in this season. Check them out!

Winter Is Coming: I have the screeners, but I still have yet to watch beyond the premiere, so seeing all this fresh new footage was exciting! Is it Sunday yet?

You may expect that it will be availble (ripped from HBO GO) and put online today.

Seems like Jaime got his nose broken. That’s probably what Nikolaj meant when he said that something happens in episode 7 that relates to the WiC.net community.

(I think that someone already predicted this back then, but I can’t remember who)

Well, Dany kneeling next to that riderless, painted horse and holding Irri (I guess), could only mean that Rakkharo is lost. I wonder what that paint means though? Was he taken by another Khallasar or the Lamb People?

    Chris77,

I think, based on a recent interview (or was it a review ?) that [Probable spoiler from episode 2 !]he has been beheaded, and his head has been sent back to Dany.

Here’s the exact quote, read at your own risk. ;-)

The sexist attitudes Daenerys faces in her struggle to emerge as a leader are sharpened. When a rival tribe sends back one of her guards’ heads in a bag, her bodyguard explains “They don’t like the idea of a woman leading a Khalasar.” “They’ll like it far less when I am done with them,” Dany spits back bitterly.

Bugger. They changed the words to Jamie’s “too many promises” speech, arguably my favourite speech in the book, and not to the better: “What if the king massacres too many innocents? It’s too much.” Really? :/

On a happier note, Brienne looks frelling awesome! The more I see of her the happier I am about her casting.

    Joff’s battle armour looks gorgeous.

As for Ep.2 making the rounds, only watched the intro, and the Pyke animation looks awesome. Also, I just noticed, but is Dragonstone made to resemble the spread out skeleton of a dragon with the tall buildings as the spine and the smaller houses and wall as the wings. It looks really cool.

    Maxwell James,

I was pretty certain we were gonna get it because it’s such a pivotal and well written scene, plus it’s where Brienne first meets Jamie, I never considered the possibility that they would cut it.

But you’re right, I should be grateful we are getting it, and wait till I actually see it play out before passing judgement. I’m not a book purest at all, minor changes don’t bother me usually, yet I can’t help being a little sad because it is my favourite speech of the books.

The polish leak of Episode 2 would be great if somebody removed that dub. The episode is in English, but with an annoying dub over it. If there’s a way to remove the dub on HBO GO, it’d be great to have!

Am not a big fan of the Greyjoy/Iron Islands/A(O)sha story line, but I just got chills watching that oneline from the actor playing Balon (sorry, don’t know his name offhand).

Theon, BTW, is exempt from the above. Nothin’ but love for Theon’s arc.

I am so teeeased by those glimpses of Pyat Pree. Seems to be a genuinely creepy weirdo. Hopes he gets some screen time. Now that we know that wolf dreams are definitely in (yay!) I have high hopes for some awesome House of the Undying shit. The way they have handled the supernatural stuff so far has been spot on imho. They ease in to it, so to speak. ;-)

Ep 11 left me with some serious craving for more and with every preview I get more and more certain that the hard long wait will be sooo worth it. Sunday soon?

    Assunta Fiorini,

Yeah, Patrick Malahide seems a perfect Balon as far as I can tell. I only hope I can forget that he plays the prison director in Fortress 2 though. ^^

I am so glad they have kept the Theon storyline intact, as it seems. Prior to ADwD I would never have guessed that Theon would become one of my favorite characters, but there you have it.

I fear it. The horror is unimaginable in my head. The ways it could go wrong are countless. Hope for the worst, expect for the best.

Also hoping the Jaimes vow/promise/swear speach is only a cut from trailer. “It’s too much.” would probably be very un-Jaimesh, unless it is ofcourse followed by witty remark.

Looking further ahead, episode 5 is called “The Ghost in Harrenhal”. There’s very little of Arya’s storyline after that in CoK. Do we think she’ll appear in say 2 episodes only after that? Or maybe the beginning of her SoS storyline will be brought into Season Two?

    Dee,

The Jaime and Catelyn scene is actually my favorite from Clash of Kings, it so neatly summarizes what Jaime is all about, exposing the contradictions of what is “expected” of “honorable” people. I hope as much as possible of that scene remains in the show. I admit being a bit worried as well when they took a bit from it and put it in season 1 but i’m a bit more optimistic now

It’s a good day to be Dutch!

Episode 2 is absolutely amazing! Best in the entire series so far imo. Contrary to Episode 1, I instantly liked everything about it. And I do mean everything! So many great scenes and lines from the books, plus a few surprises (I wont spoil). They bumped up some stuff from later on, but it’s all good! I can’t believe how much from the books they managed to cram into this episode and still made it wonderfully smooth flowing. Production values continue to be amazingly high and the acting is superb. I have 100% faith in the creators to continue to make this awesome. Episode 1 felt rushed at times (which is understandable) with some weak points, but there’s literally nothing about Episode 2 I didn’t like…

And through the wonders of the internet, I’m sure that those who want will be able to find their way to it now as well…;-)

Is anyone as pissed as I about the very likely complete omission of Shireen Baratheon from the series?

Mel’s in a certain icky scene are ‘She [Selyse] is sickly. She is weak. She disgusts you. [...] And she has given you nothing. No sons. Only stillborns. Only death. I will give you a son my king.’

It’s possible that daughters are considered to be too unimportant to be mentioned in this particular scene (and the first season already established that daughters came last in the line of succession to the Iron Throne), especially if we consider that TV-Stannis obviously strongly wishes to get a son, so I’m inclined to believe that Shireen could still be introduced later in season 3 (along with Edric Storm).

Certain developments in the series make it a rather poor and risky decision to omit Shireen…

    Any thoughts about this?

Beware Theory and spoilers from ADWD:

Given the importance of Greyscale in ADWD and the Fuss Val makes about Shireen, I don’t think she will be ommited, but rather introduced at a later point, when her part is more important (Reeds/Tullys). My crackpot theory is still that the Dragonstone is made up of Dragons that turned to stone statues due to Greyscale. Since Greyscale seems to have originated at Valyria, the Targaryans could have brought it with them. Shireen could have contracted it playing on the statues…

    CVH is FUCKING beautiful.

    But.
After the first episode, a few of my friends expressed that with 10 episodes and the ever increasing story lines, it’s going to be impossible to juggle for coherent TV, and after watching the second episode, I fear there may be some truth to that.

    The DarkStar,

They did in the second episode something that worked during Season 1: simply cut off some of the subplots entirely to pick them up in a later week (in this case Winterfell and Robb/Cat).

The problem with the first episode of this season (which I still loved) is that they wanted to show what was going on with every character, probably to refresh the viewers memory, so they had to show a lot of different storylines. Trimming them down like they did in the second episode really worked. It allowed them to give more depth to some of the new characters, like Davos and Matthos. Tell your friends to hang on!
