Not funny, but the Davos bit did bring up a valid point – the sword was just left there…

I really love these, great work again Seanzoz!

Thomas Krist: the sword was just left there

I believe this also happened in the book.

It was ok. The davos part about the sword was funny and a good point. Also, the Robb and Catelyn scene was hilarious.

On another note, does anyone else find it scary that GRRM has not updated his blog with a post regarding the new season of GOT yet? I mean I think last year he almost died from sepsis [has a 20-60% mortality rate!]; could he have had another infection or now a heart attack or something? I know I sound like Dolorous Edd but the man is a 63 year old obese diabetic male.. all risk factors for heart disease, so the idea of him having a heart attack is not too farfetched!

seanzoz, thank you – this was hilarious. Don’t worry about some of the above posters – when you have a wooden stake pushed through your heart, slowly dissolving into dust again until the next twilight, it’s hard to share living humor.

Hmm mayhaps you ought to unbend, just a tad will do… If “the night is dark and full of ninjas” didn’t even register as remotely funny or the Cersei’s version of “Simon says” I really don’t know what would you consider to be funny… I’d recommend you watch a bit of Hamish and Andy on Youtube, that may help. Cheers

This is just as good as anything SNL does. I know that may not be saying much (as SNL goes lately), but there you have it. Maybe there should be a musical guest. My vote would be for Douglas Harrison performing his version of “The Rains of Castamere” LIVE ON SATURDAY’S GoT LAUGHS!!

    Knurk:
This was supposed to be a quote about Stannis leaving the flaming sword in the beach, but I screwed it up.

I believe this also happened in the book.

Hmm, I guess it was too hot to handle. Apparently, not only audiences missed this important piece of information, but satirists, as well.

    Winter Is Coming:
Canary, pretty sure seanzoz was mocking the way they handled this part in the show.

Most likely, but if so, then the joke was only aimed at book readers. To show-only viewers its just a bad joke (omg its the opposite…hilarious).

    Winter Is Coming,

Certainly could be, though it didn’t read that way to me. Maybe it’s because the view that Catelyn is stupid for wanting to trade Jaime for Sansa and Arya is so prevalent among fans? IDK.

    the goat,

priceless, ancient, mythical sword too hot to handle even though you just did by pulling it out of a fire with a gloved hand?

Leave it unattended on a beach…

Think you’re reaching goat… Even people that hate these parodies agree that just leaving it there didn’t make any sense… Get a fucking ornate gerny and carry it off as part of the ceremony if it’s ‘too hot’. There are a thousand options that even a child could think of… You’re making yourself seem stupid… I know it’s hard to hear, but i’m just telling you as a friend.

For everything talking about Lightbringer, from what I recall the sword Stannis pulled from the fire was never Lightbringer. It was just a sword on fire. Symbolic, and such. Lightbringer was made later.

Yep, the book showed that the sword used in the ceremony on the beach was more symbolic than anything, and in fact I think it was shown to be ruined by being lit on fire like that (like pretty much all of Thoros of Myr’s swords). Also, Stannis sort of burns his hand on the thing. It shows, first of all, that Mellisandre’s big flowery speech doesn’t really mean anything to Stannis; he’ll let her say the words, in order to seem more imposing to his followers, but in truth he’s just a man. He leaves the sword because it’s about as valuable to him as the whole ceremony; it’s a prop to be used, nothing more.

    Canary,

    Winter Is Coming,

I don’t really think Catelyn wanted to make that trade. She had to bring it up. But I really think she just wanted him to offer someone for Arya and Sansa. Its only because she knows that the trade would never bed made that she puts it forward. Just as Tyrion knows his counter offer would never be accepted. As Doran knows Arianne would never accept a marriage to Walder Frey. If Robb had told Catelyn his plan was to trade Jamie for Arya and Sansa she would have smacked him upside the head, the same way she did when Robb was so vacillating at Moat Cailin.
