    I’ve composed a premiere night poem, and I used all my restraint and did not mention Ros. I hope my fellow gatewatchers are proud :)

    ~~~~~~~~
    Gather round viewers, newbies and olds, for a tale of House Gatewatch must now be told
    Tis finally Sunday, the premiere is nigh, and we’ll all be watching with our critical eye
    For all of us Gatewatchers, each detail does matter,
    If it’s not like the book, the more we will chatter
    Some posters complain; “Can’t you just watch and enjoy?”
    The answer is no, nit-picking is our employ!
    When Nikolai’s nose was too aquiline, the casting-gate caught fire
    But when Prince Charming smiled onscreen, we lost most of our ire
    When an eyebrow’s too dark, or a Ghost starts to bark
    We raise the rallying cry
    When a Hound’s story is stolen, and told by another,
    We respond with a loud, angry “Whyyyyy???”
    But it’s not all nitppicking, we’ve plenty of love
    to spread on the cast and crew
    I’ve seen positive threads, full of praise and delight
    They’re just not as much fun to pursue!
    So Winter is Coming, and War as well
    It all begins tonight
    So prepare, dear readers, for Gate-ing galore
    To your heart’s delight!
    ~~~~~~~~~
    (I invite any other House Gatewatchers out there to add extra verses to my premiere night poem while we wait!)

    I just finished watching Baelor right now. And even the scene when Robb is riding with his men back to his mother, to see Cat cry and the music and just knowing the emotion of them capturing Jaime was intense. My throat started getting all lumpy. And made me want to shout “KING OF THE NORTH!” =)

    That also made me think of how more epic the battle scenes and fight scenes are going to be in season2, according to what everyone who seen some episodes are saying. Man, like 6 more hours…

    Direwolves, Dragons, Swordfights, Battles… This is going to be so awesome…

    Happy GoT day everyone! In honour of our beloved series I have written this little play. Now I did post this on the Rosgate forum but that’s pretty dead now and so it should be. But to bury the tomahawk on that matter and to celebrate GoT in general I give you….

    FAUSTUS, a modern retelling.

    2009: A dark and stormy night in the Hollywood hills…two writers BENIOFF and WEISS are musing over a laptop and pizza dinner on the fate of their developing television series.

    Benioff: I hope HBO greenlights our series. I want to bring A Song of Ice and Fire to the world’s attention.
    Weiss: I concur.
    Benioff: But oh how can we be sure if HBO will even like the pilot?
    Weiss: I concur.
    Benioff: And even if it gets greenlit, how can we be sure that we will not be cancelled a year or two down the road. It is HBO after all!
    Weiss: I concur.
    Benioff: The Martin fans will be on our side, at least those who aren’t crazy Purists *cough* Westeros *cough* But the average Joe? What will he care about an Iron Throne and a Littlefinger and a direwolf?
    Weiss: No way we can make this like the book verbatim. Impossible. Even George agrees with us on that. And killing off the main character isn’t going to go down well either. And the wolves how do we pull that off. CGI?
    Benioff: Just make sure that they don’t growl with their mouth open and we will be fine. Oh what to do? I will do anything to bring this gritty,gory, glorious deconstruction of high fantasy to life!

    *all of a sudden in a flash of fire and brimstone. a figure emerges from the darkness of Benioff’s office. The sickly smell of sulphur wafts through the air.*

    Benioff: Nightcrawler?
    Weiss: As if you will be allowed to touch that franchise again after Origins…what the fuck did you do to Deadpool anyway?
    Benioff: It was an adaptation! Sidebar: materializing demon in my house! So glad Amanda’s not home!
    Weiss:…and then there’s the Xavier cameo? Did Stewart even get a royalty cheque?
    Benioff: MY VICTOR CREED WAS PERFECT!

    *arguing*

    *Beelzebub completes his form and it is a beautiful red haired woman that kind of resembles a British burlesque actress*

    Beelzebub: Hey Hollywood writer fucks! You! *she points at at Benioff*
    Beelzebub: Troy was bollocks, sorry to tell you! Bana yay! Pitt nay!
    *points at Weiss* And you….wha, smashing shirt! Kingdom of Loathing well done mate!
    Weiss: Thank you..it’s about power.
    *Beelzebub rolls eyes*
    Beelzebub: Sure it is mate. And tits and ass and blood.
    Benioff: I know you…
    Beelzebub: So have many men, Cain, Judas, Attila,that Hitler wanker, Harvey Weinstein…but you can call me Esme. Beelzebub is so bloody Lord of the Flies y’know?
    Weiss: I concur.
    Esme: So let’s get down to business gents..you have a fancy of bringing ASOIAF to the magic box?
    Benioff: Oh god yes, but at what price Lord of darkness?
    Weiss: I concur.
    Esme: All right then what if I could make this happen?
    Weiss: That would redefine the supernatural. All logical forces are against it ever coming to be. It’s about power.
    Esme: So many obstacles lads! The pilot getting greenlit… Jennifer Ehle really?…what about Gillian Anderson? Also Lena Headey? Isn’t she a brunette?
    Weiss: I concur.
    Esme: Then you have production costs, pleasing fans and the Unsullied, the very concept that an adult fantasy series would never be taking seriously…really look it up, my mates Ginia and Neil know what they are talking about. You lads need a miracle.
    Weiss: So how?
    Benioff: Okay I know what’s going on here you want our souls right? Well I am not going to sacrifice my life, my integrity…
    Weiss: Me as well!

    *they go on and on angrily until Esme tires of this*

    Esme: Boys! Boys! Listen to me now. You got this wrong! I don’t want your bleedin’ souls. You retired those a long time ago heh-heh. Just takin’ the piss out of ye, your souls are fine. You would be surprised to find out what with all the lore and whatnot that with the ‘ception of some pretty boy tosser demon hunters every once and while messing up with our plans, Hell is a dreary place. Good pay mind you and a wicked health plan but overall…I want to get out, I want to do something.
    Benioff: So you don’t want your souls, and hell is dullsville, so what do you want in return?

    *Esme smiles and walks over to Benioff and seductively whispers in his ear*

    Benioff: So fame and critical acclaim, and just enough to keep more of the Purists at bay…
    Esme: ‘Cept Westeros. Not even God can protect you from their wrath.
    Benioff: …plus the strong prospect of longevity? And that’s all you want?
    Esme: Yep.

    *Benioff and Weiss confer*

    Weiss: Why this? Why not our souls?

    Esme: I want to make the fanboys squirm!

    Benioff: Done!

    Weiss. I concur. But I have a question, will Martin finish A Dream of Spring before the series is done?

    Esme: When hell freezes over! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! DONE! Enjoy boys! Remember our deal or Legend of the Seeker will be seen as Tolkien compared to the likes of you!

    Weiss: It’s about power.

    A year ago, I only hoped that an adult fantasy series on HBO was half as awesome as the general concept. I knew very little or nothing about GRRM and ASOIAF, except they had a really good rep.

    A year later, all episodes watched multiple times (including “Baelor” and “Fire and Blood” today), all 5 books purchased and read, countless hours of supplemental reading and viewing courtesy of this site and others…yeah, I’m looking forward to tonight just a mite bit.

    ACOK is a fine book, and I think we got the alchemy of the right cast and crew to make these next 10 very special. I think they’ll take it to a whole other level. It won’t be perfect, (S1 wasn’t either) but I’m confident it it will be great.

I can’t wait for the moment i’ll see my favorite characters on the screen.

    Indeed! Thank you, PJ. Seriously, let the gatewatch begin. We can debate what constitutes a “gate” or not. But, one thing is clear. If a CGI Ghost barks it’s not a gate. It’s an intentional taunt aimed directly at us, House Gatewatch. With malice aforethought!

    I will probably watch it in the privacy of my bedroom tonight and then later in the week watch it on the big screen TV in HD. I want to screen it before watching it in a room where the rest of the family can see it! I learned my lesson from the Littlefinger-whore scene to always screen GoT before watching with family. Then again, I might want to watch it on the bigscreen for the first viewing. I guess I have a few hours to decide.

    I can’t wait to see the new locations added to the title sequence. Also, I am so excited to see Stannis, Melisandre, (hopefully) Brienne, maybe Asha/Yara, Margaery—-ehh, I’m excited for it all! Dragons, direwolves, new locations, costumes.

    Thank you Winter is Coming for all the great coverage, articles, videos, and other updates that have tided me over during the long wait. I can’t wait to react to season 2 along with everyone else. I’m looking forward to reading next day reviews and analysis by readers and non-readers alike.

    And of course, thank you HBO for making this happen.

    Now let’s all do our part and WATCH the show by legitimate means. As much as I’d love to win the ratings contest, I would much rather the ratings exceed my expectations. I’m hoping for a really strong number and a quick announcement (Tuesday??) of season 3 renewal.

    Thanks for such an awesome and the best fan community one could hope for.

    PS3 Media Server is such an amazing program!

    I have a HTPC so I don’t use it, but I suggest it to everyone I know that has a PS3! The convenience of watching ripped (or downloaded) shows on your TV without worrying about codec issues is great.

    It’s a shame more PS3 users don’t know about it!

    Damn, m&#%!er NY Times reviewer messed up Metacritic rating. If it weren’t for his bias lame opionated score, GoT would have a 96 and match the best score for any tv show.

    Once Upon A Time is real cool. My son and I love to figure out the story characters and how their story changes from the original. Damn, I love those 7 dwarfs. Grumpy’s story was very romantic and Red Riding Hood was a SHOCKER! I didn’t think I would like this Snow White, but she and Prince Charming really won me over. It’s funny when my son asks me, How many CHARMINGS are there?! He’s resigned to lumping all of the princes to “charming” now. :)

    C’MON GOT!! I’m trying to distract myself.. it’s barely going on 4pm on the west coast, but I think I get an east coast HBO feed. If I can get the MR. off that damn Skyrim or whatever the hell that is!

    Wow, nice link…

    Jaime does look and sound badass…

    With all those chains around him… That must have been added to keep him secure after his prison break attempt. Can’t wait to see just how epic of a swordsman Jaime really is, in the prison break scene…

    Edit: Brienne in the background does look very intense and intimidating. The way she was staring at Jaime was rather scary… Now I can see why Nik said the actress that played her scared the heck out of him when she got into her armor/Brienne character…

    I wait with angst for the King in the North
    with faith and trust for clan Seaworth

    I wait for moments to sneer a Kraken
    While rooting for boys to run Starks run!

    I wait with despair a shadows cold breath
    A gush of blood , an untimely death

    I wait for origins of Lannister chivalry
    Born of loss of dextrous dignity

    I wait to applaud three whispers of fate
    A pot of soup, a dog , an escape

    I wait for fires, pots and chains
    A rabid dog, fleeing while sneering with disdain

    I wait for a bearded man to swing his staff
    A bellied man with a brutish laugh

    But really, I’m just looking forward to having a great time sitting down and watching these episodes and discussing them with my wife who is also a huge fan of the books :)

The direwolves are an extension of the Starks and this episode played that off super well. When Robb grabbed Grey Wind’s fur and did a forward release.. holy cow… Jaime should have pissed his pants right about then.
