Saturday’s GoT Laughs: Parody and Tyrion, M.D.

The latest Game of Thrones Parody vid is now up! This one is a parody of episode 16, “The Old Gods and the New”.

Next, a nice combo of three references which really works.

There were a number of times this season when I actually felt Dinklage channeling some facets of House’s character.

Ghost.. lol “What’s wrong with your pet?” “He’s not a PET!”

Ghost’s absence screams at me whenever Jon has a scene. Blackwater better be something else for it to have sucked up all of the direwolf CGI.

I don’t get the mushroom joke, so is it a super Mario reference? Where if tyrion took one he would grow bigger? Or is it something to do with drugs?

Yes. And Dr. House kind of looks like Dinklage, only taller, so… Yeah.

    Rukie44,

I was scratching my head over that too. Not that she kills him in the books (she doesn’t), but it didn’t make much sense given the situation in the show. Unless she was asked not to, or decided not to, thinking the Iron Islanders would slaughter everyone in Winterfell if Theon fell as revenge. But even that’s a real stretch since they could elect a new leader in Dagmer and send for Yara.

The way it looked, there were not sufficient forces on the Stark side to keep the castle if they killed Theon, there’d still be all those other Ironmen to kill and it was safer for Bran and Rickon to get out of there stealthily rather than risk that action.

Love the parodies, wish they were longer!

What would she have killed him with? Her bare hands? She killed the guard with his own weapon. Even Theon wouldn’t be stupid enough to leave anything sharp and pointy within easy reach of a wilding while he slept.

    Lazlo Woodbine,

Finally someone understands the situation. Indeed Osha has no means to kill Theon when they are together beyond her own hands. And the chance of killing Theon that way without alerting his guards or even killing him at all are chancy at best.

The better strategy is to sneak out whilst Theon is sleeping of his bliss and try to get as far away as you can before someone detects you.

The unfortunate guard had to be killed, with his own knife, because Osha would have a hard time sneaking two kids (one crippled), a semi-giant halfwit and two direwolves past him! And she needed to use his knife because nobody trusted her around sharp weapons.

Characters need to act within the realm of the feasible, not play out the audiences wish-fulfillment fantasies, otherwise the story falls apart.

    PJK,

While I agree with all your points, what Osha could have done is going back to Theon and kill him with the guards knife. Of course that’s a bit risky, she wanted the boys out of Winterfell as fast and safe as possible.

    Abyss,

No she couldn’t. Think about it: She has to cross back into Winterfell with a knife, while the people she’s trying to smuggle out are still exposed outside and as such in danger of discovery when the guard is found. And then she somehow has to talk her way back into Theon’s chambers without raising suspicions with the Ironborn who are probably quartered closely to Theon (if there isn’t a guard on his door, which is unlikely).

That was the reason she asked for her freedom while the Ironborn guard was still in the room with Theon, so she could leave without raising suspicions. Coming back would really make that difficult since what will she tell the guards on the way in? That she forgot something? They would wake up Theon before letting her enter! And if she somehow made it inside with them waking Theon, how would she explain the fact that she was coming back so soon after they let her in. They’d probably check to see if Theon was ok. And that doesn’t even cover the possibility of being splattered with Theon’s blood while killing him with no way of covering that up.

No, going back to kill Theon wasn’t an option!

Even if she could have gone back for Theon, they’d still have been tracked by the rest of the Iron Born. It wouldn’t help with their escape and would just add to the risk of being caught. It was altogether much simpler to make a quick getaway.

    PJK,

Just to be clear, I am with you on that. All I wanted to point out is that it was possible for her to kill Theon at one point with at least a chance to get away with it. – But you are right, it would have been more than just a bit risky.^^

This whole Talisa/Jeyne thing is overly confusing to us book fans. When she said her name was Talisa, I actually imagined that she was giving a fake name, and that she’s actually highborn (like Robb said, it was “obvious”). Maybe she really is Jeyne Westerling, but what would be the significance of that as far as the show is concerned?

    Lazlo Woodbine,

“Theon wouldn’t be stupid enough”? your entire argument is invalid based on that logic alone.

The fact that some of you guys are going hyper-analytically over these vids just to discredit them is the funnier than the parodies. If you were to apply the same energy into proving them rather than disproving them I’m pretty sure you’d come up with some equally understandable views… *le sigh

I hate Joffery, but man, that dude has SWAG. Whenever he’s in a scene, just pay attention to how he walks. The parodies get that perfectly, showing him slightly tilted. Gods I love Jack. :’)

I’m not sure “hyper analytical” is fair. It was just a chat about side issue that happened to be mentioned in the parody. Even Theon wouldn’t be stupid enough to analyse the parody…

Now stop expending so much energy on being condescending.
