Saturday’s GoT Laughs: Maroon 5 and GoT goes rom-com

Now this is a GoT video game I’d actually want to play, created by Sabrenaut.

A House Baratheon rap…

If Game of Thrones was a romantic comedy starring Jaime and Brienne…

A different game of thrones…

And an accurate representation of your typical A Song of Ice and Fire reader.

    Love GOT laughs!
The typical reader reaction was so accurate for me. Cannot count how many times I’ve yelled that I hate GRRM and walked away only to pick up the book five minutes later and to continue reading.
BTW Our is the Fury, while GOT RPG had some obvious shortcomings its not a half bad game. Played it through with every possible ending and absolutely loved the story, very Martinesque, worth the play.

That “rom-com” trailer didn’t really seem to make any jokes. The “One and a Half-Man” buddy-comedy trailer worked because it took scenes and used them out-of-context to put a new spin on them. This one just seems like a montage set to Call Me Maybe.

    Hertolo,

I read the comic and laughed cause it was funny, only to find my chuckles turning into sobs as I realised how true this was. Two greatest fears 1) A Dream of Spring is just that, a dream, a fantasy and the F@cking white walkers sit on the throne. 2) (greatest fear by far) GRRM dies before the seventh one is finished.

I know! I’m not very good at it either. Every time I see a GRRM blog post about football a little part of me thinks “No! No time, George!” but then I remember that even very famous authors with impending deadlines can take breaks to watch football if they want. Neil Gaiman says so.

There is a Game of Thrones board game and it’s quite good. It’s a tiny bit like Risk with simultaneous turns and no dice-rolling. The lack of dice/randomness emphasizes strategy and diplomacy over chance.

Although there should be a House Seaworth rap. Also that Game of Thrones board game thing is pretty funny. Apparently the actual board game is really difficult too. Going by a review of it I read ages ago.

Anyway keep the lols coming people.

PS I stand corrected, I thought the whole Bush head thing was this weeks GoT laughs.

Dunno if this has been pointed out here before, but Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey, who is on a pretty historic run right now, has been using the GoT theme song for his at bat music. I noticed it last night attending the game, though exploring a bit it’s been noticed in a few places already.

He also kind of resembles Rory McCann as the Hound, except, you know, without the horrible burn scars. http://gameofowns.com/game-of-thrones-theme-powers-mets-r-a-dickey/

For those non-baseball people out there, Dickey’s a pretty great story: he was born without a Ulnar Collateral Ligament in his arm, which is a very important muscle for pitching (and one of the most commonly injured among pitchers). No one realized it until after he was drafted, but instead of give up pitching, he taught himself how to throw a knuckleball, which is essentially a ball thrown with no spin, so despite it’s lack of velocity it “flutters” in a way that’s very unpredictable and thus difficult to hit. He was a career minor leaguer who no one really considered to have a shot at a real baseball career, but he kept at it, and a few years ago started turning into a really good pitcher. Now, at age 37 (pretty old in athletic terms), he’s become one of the very best pitchers in professional baseball.

Also, he names his bats after famous swords from fantasy stories. So far, we have a confirmed “Orcist the Goblin Cleaver” from the Hobbit and “Hrunting” from Beowulf. I wonder if he’s got an “Ice” or a “Longclaw” in there somewhere too….maybe he’s got a “Lightbringer” stashed away somewhere for a really crucial moment, lol.

Suffice to say, as a die hard Mets and ASoIaF fan, he’s my hero.
