According to Entertainment Weekly, three new Game of Thrones posters are being released this week at San Diego Comic Con and sold at the booth of Mondo, the collectible arts boutique that created them.

Ours is the Fury: The amount of detail in this is astounding. I love it!

But stags aren’t evil, they only eat grass. *sobb*

That’s pretty psychedelic. I like.
Game of Shrooms
If that had existed as a black light poster when I was in high school, I would’ve put it right next to my lava lamp.

These wont be available to everyone, Mondo Posters are extremely limted.

Honestly, I’m not a fan. In the B&W one, what I’m guessing are supposed to be lionesses, look like panthers.
SkywarpgoldQuote Reply
I do like the stylized aspect of them…
Although each is missing something for me to absolutely love them I guess.
Skywarpgold,
They really do look like panthers!! I do like the overall layout regardless though.

Beautiful but I can’t for the life of me tell if that is Sansa or Cersei next to Stannis’ head and that is eerie as hell
DBQuote Reply
definitely Cersei and a nice little ‘Handpin’ is pointing at her throat.

While the artwork itself is undeniably well done, the black and white poster as a whole strikes me as a victim of awful composition. As if the big heads trope isn’t limiting enough, sneaking in the warhammer and swords and Hand pin breaks up the image in a distracting way. They’re just gimmicks that detract from the final product. There’s no discernible thematic reason Dany’s face should be shattered by the hammer’s shaft.
The lioness decision is also questionable. It’s hard to tell they’re lions. They could just as easily be beefed-up Clegane dogs. The Lannister lion has a telling mane for a reason.
It’s a really awesome image overall, but not the way it’s presented. The other two posters have my vote.
It’s also a shame that the central subject of the poster, Robb, is also the least recognizable the way he’s drawn.
These are just my sticking points as an artist. The above poster is still leagues above most fan-made tributes to the series.

Female lions look like panthers in black and white? who would have thought.
Bad ass poster, come on baratheons get some antlers in!!

Love ‘em. Especially the black and white one. Interesting to see he used the weapons from Valyriansteel.com as stencils in the b&w one. A nerd notices these things. Just a little continuity error, that’s all. Still magnificent.

Hm, can’t say I’m taken by any of them. I like the first one the best, but I’d probably like it more if it only focused on the animals cause the way the faces are drawn bothers me. I hope there’ll be more SDCC exclusive stuff. Come on, Game of Thrones, I want to give you some of my money.

Needs more Storms and Swords…

this poster is flat-out ugly.
Also, it fixates on Robb Stark too much.
The Dragon DemandsQuote Reply
DB,
Looks like Sansa to me, but I guess it could be Cersei since Robb & Jon don’t look exactly like Rich & Kit.

My vote goes to the third one on the EW website. I like how the head at the top could be wolf, lion or dragon.

I love the way this is done, even the “panthers” had me puzzled :)
I like it when you don´t see everything on first glance and really have to look closer (I am short-sighted and didn´t see the hand-pin until someone poited it out).

I don’t like it. I thought “panthers” immediately as well, and it’s an awful likeness of Robb. And Tyrion is way too underrepresented, and I don’t understand (or like) Cersei’s strange positioning…
WAY too interpretive for my tastes.
That said, if everybody liked the same thing, there’d only be one poster. (shrug)

Interesting, I guess… but I really don’t like them. The style, the colour, the composition, etc. They just don’t ‘feel’ right to me.

Not likely Sansa and Cersi is already there nearby, she’s a major player. Yet next to
Stannis..hmmmm? I dunno and I’ve been wondering because the demure hairstyle
is not consistent with Melissandre ( or is it ? ) A long shot might be lady Selyse
whom we’ll see in S3. I’m sure some one here will figure it out.
Edit: It is Cersi !. The other female I saw is Danerys so it has to be Cersei.

The other poster on the EW site is insanely awesome – real classic 70s fantasy without being trite, and an amazing take on the title logo. Wow.

What scene does the blue poster represent? Some female-looking figure is sneaking up on two riders in the woods? It can’t be the very end of book 3 because that won’t happen until season 4.

No a white walker:
“Danger took on the opening moments of the pilot episode: A White Walker closes in on Night’s Watch rangers. Reminiscent of the very first image released of the show.”

Arya is also on the far left next to Jon. I still think it looks more like Sansa, but yeah, Cersei probably makes more sense.

I don’t like the stag/sword/portrait one at all. It seems very ham-handed and clumsy to me. I do like the nutty ornate one though. Nice execution and detail.

OT: I just love that. Cute, touching and funny at the same time. :-)

I kind of miss the point of warhammer going right through Danys forehead. And would have maybe liked it more if it would have been more black and white and not so much detailed gray. Especially the faces. Even if it suits the GOT feeling of “nothing is black or white”.
Not bad, just not my thing.
rorschach-Quote Reply
the wolves look awesome.well the foreground one anyway.they should have done one of the blu-ray slip cover.all those sigils attacking the three headed dragon.

Abyss,

looks awesome! I especially love the animal portrayals. I only wish Arya was on it as well.

Wheelo,
You’re kidding, right?
You’re not able to clearly see everything that’s on that poster?
Sounds to me like you’re just being a snobby hipster almost-artist that thinks he can write away his frustrations over his own un-accomplishments like a real internet hero.
Sure, try to shove the badly aimed criticism away under a matress of “Oh, but it’s better than a lot of fanart”.
The weapons are in there because it’s a promo-poster for the second season of Game of Thrones, it’s not a poster for A Song of Ice and Fire. This comes from someone who could name every house in Westeros and has read the books multiple times. And it would still fit. The whole reason for Dany’s storyline is Robert’s warhammer. The whole reason for Cersei’s storyline is Tyrion (and in this season his time as Hand). The poster makes total sense to someone who’s read the books or hasn’t read the books.
You, my friend, need to tone it down on the being a douchebag.
