This week’s WiCnet Awards category is best comedic scene. Not a clear favorite here, from what I can tell, based on the deliberation we had in choosing these nominees. Head after the break to cast your vote and then convince your fellow readers why your choice is tops!

Undecided between Ygritte teasing and the trio talking plans =/
However, gendry and arya was a very pleasant and adorable scene to watch. Once again, a very hard choice!

Well, I did not laugh so loud at this choices but for me the more comedic scene from these options is the scene with Tyrion, Bronn and Varys

Had to go with talking about Battles with Hot Pie! Reminds me of discussion my friends and I might find ourselves in :P
My second was deffinitely Ygritte, though.

Ygritte teasing Jon was hilarious. Especially this part.

Meraxes,
hmm that’s an amusing line but that’s not a comedic scene, I’d say.

Ygritte and Jon got my vote …
Coltaine777Quote Reply
The biggest laugh was when Armory Loche fell through Tywin’s door like a sack of potatoes. But Ygritte was a delight and the best thing of Jon’s storyline.
Omar BrownQuote Reply
Definitely would get my vote . Loved that scene.
YvyBQuote Reply
For once I honestly don’t know! Well I’ll give myself a day or two to think about it, because I just love all of them.
Ygritte really made me laugh trying to seduce Jon, and of course anything with Tyrion is hilarious. But Arya revealing her identity is just such a great part of the story! Plus the whole discussion on battles was silly and sweet… In other words I have no idea.

I’m submitting a write in vote for “Theon hates the horn-blower.”

I wish the scene with Margaery and Renly was a choice. That was my biggest laugh of the season. I hated the Ygritte/Jon scenes. I guess my vote goes to Tyrion and the Small Council.
Girl took BlackQuote Reply
Grease Truck and YvyB, great minds think alike. I legitimately didn’t see that before I posted mine. I also like “Gendry is unsatisfied with the escape plan.”
The Stannis WayQuote Reply
Also “Jaime explains mutually exclusive vows”
The Stannis WayQuote Reply
LOL! I was going for when Arya discovered Gendry knew she was a girl, but that’s a close second. Such a shame it’s not on the list, I laughed so hard during that scene.
NatasaQuote Reply
Went with the talk about battles. Hot Pie’s face is just hilarious. Though my favorite comedic scene(s) would have to be Tyrion and Lancel. A funny line though is Theon’s “Whoever kills that fucking hornblower….”.

I thought that the best comedic scene was the Blackmailing of Lancel.
JasonQuote Reply
Without question, for me, the funiest sene is Tyrion, Bronn and Varys talking battle plans. That’s probably my most watched scene. Pure gold. The best moment is Dinklage’s face after Varys correctly pronounced ‘Grand Maester Chvyalthan’ which is clearly not Bronn’s seemingly correct ‘Chvyalteesh’.

Bronn & the whore before the Battle of the Blackwater
“Don’t feel sorry for [Bronn's nose]” FTW!
Nights KingQuote Reply
None of the above. I submit Tyrion and Lancel ( Lancel delivering Cercei’s demand
to release Pycelle ).
WildSeedQuote Reply
Where is “Arya names Jaqen” a woman would like to know? The funniest scene of all, since a girl of 12 or so is manipulating a professional ninja assassin! Once again, a woman will have to ruminate before picking one of the lesser scenes for the sake of the poll. Sigh.
Mrs. H’gharQuote Reply
Hot Pie , Arya and Lommy was absolutely pitch perfect.

i don’t remember who the other guy was, but the scene with Tyrion about …cut off his manhood and feed it to the goats…but we don’t have a goat…well make do!

Arya Lommy and Hot Pie. Hot Pie killed it with “Because he got a-armor on”

Yes, that was done beautifully.

The Davos & Salador Saan “I’m not going to rape her, I’m going to f*ck” scene was the most memorably comedic in season 2 for me. That or the Hound’s “any man dies with a clean sword I’ll rape his f-ing corpse”

Toughest category yet, but I had to go with Two and Half-man.

Another write-in vote:
Tyrion discusses marriage plans for Myrcella with each member of the small council, giving each person a different story.

I’m gonna go with Ygritte teasing Jon, Rose is so freaking charming <3

Tyrion, Varys and Bronn should have their own spin-off.
That said, Theon’s speech should be there as well.

I voted for the battle discussion between Hot Pie, Lommy and Arya. I absolutely loved every Tyrion scene, lots of them for their comedic value so I couldn’t pick between the 2 listed there so I went with something different. In some way that battle discussion had a bit of a Monty Python air to it..which I love. Hot Pie being put in his place was pretty funny.
DennisQuote Reply
Well, I can’t say any of those scenes had me in stitches, but the one I found the most entertaining was when Tyrion arrives at the Small Council. That has my vote!
Gabriel David RossQuote Reply
I went with Tyrion, Varys and Bronn duscussing battle plans. Missing, however, Stannis’ dictation of the letter from the first episode. The lines alog; “make it SER Jamie Lannister the Kingslayer — for whatever else, he is a man still a knight” were funny … mostly because Stannis was so serious about them. Not to mention the grammar nazi moment in one of the later episodes. :D
PepiQuote Reply
Tyrion, Bronn and Varys, can’t go wrong with those guys, they always crack me up…correcting each other about the name of that maester, the bit about “we don’t have enough books to throw” and the answer to the question “What do we have?”….”Pig shit!”
Can’t get better than that…
loco73Quote Reply
I would have gone for Tyrion making Lancel his bitch.
Absent that,Ygritte I guess? Tyrion’s arrival I would file under badass, not comedic.
Restore the DayQuote Reply
…Although that scene when Tyrion finally catches Grand Maester Pycell …that’s pretty funny too, and even the exchange between Tyrion and Janos Slynt, the way the Imp dispatches Janos is quite something…
Hey what about the time when Tyrion blackmails poor Lancel into becoming his bitch…ah I mean eyes and ears…
loco73Quote Reply
Even the Hound telling everybody in the middle of the Blackwater battle to basically fuck themselves, eventhough that whole episode is soo epic, grand, bloody and breathtaking, that bit was quite funny amidst all tbe gloom and doowm, and while it was not intended to be so, it certainly came out that way!
loco73Quote Reply
Ditto. Rose Leslie was charming in her scene and the one with Arya & Co. talking about battles was funny and sweet, but Varys, Tyrion and Bronn making plans seemed more subtle, beter written and better delivered, in my opinion.
And now, just to complain, where are my Dolorous Edd, Grenn & Sam scenes??? :)
Perhaps it would have been easier to go for comedic lines instead of scenes, oh well.

I never laughed harder, all season! My favourite part of that scene is how confident, and how wrong, Bronn’s pronunciation is. XD

Voted for Ygritte’s seduction which was hilarious. Rose Leslie nailed it!

–A few scenes were missed here. I went with Tyrion and the small council, though I think a big miss is Edd and Grenn talking about farting when you die. And Sam coming over to ask a question and Edd saying “We were having a serious conversation.”
–Tyrion to Lancel: “Tell Bronn if anything should happen to me he is to kill you,” and then later, “Even torturing you is boring.”
–”Thank you. Thank you, wise bald man, for teaching me about siege tactics.”
–The pig shit conversation with Bronn and the man making the wildfire.

Anything with Lancel would have been a shoo-in. The hornblower was also a great bit of gallows humor. In absence of those, Ygritte has to take the prize.
WarneyHasOpinionsQuote Reply
They should have added the scene between Bron & The Hound….
TheFlayedLadyQuote Reply
I thought the “interruption” of Theon’s speech was poorly done. In the book, Theon’s panic is quite desperate and plays out in a much more tragic way. The show just played it for a cheap laugh. I hate to just say “the book was better”, but in this case I feel that the show failed even within its own context, independently of being compared to the source material. Theon is a serious character, even in the show, and the end of his arc this season felt completely anticlimactic to me.
MRRQuote Reply
I think the choices above aren’t the best ones. The best comedic scene in Season 2 is when Dolorous Edd is explaining Sam about his mom that farted after she died! Priceless!
FabioParmeQuote Reply
This might be my favorite moment from season 2. Alfie had the perfect annoyed face everytime the horn sounded, I loved it.
JillQuote Reply
The actor playing Lancel makes me laugh so hard every time he’s in a scene. I love that guy and wish he were nominated.
I’m going to miss the old Lancel once he becomes born-again and all boring and pious and stuff. Still, maybe he’ll play it in a comical fashion. Should be interesting to see.
MATTHEWQuote Reply
Even when horrible things happen to Lancel, I can’t help but laugh. I remember when reading the description of how, in the books, Cersei thrust her fingers in his wound, I winced. But when that scene is depicted on TV, and Lancel goes “Now you listen here!” before Cersei pokes at his wound and he goes crashing to his floor, I was laughing hysterically. He’s just so good at playing hapless oaf.
EDIT: Another hlilarious Lancel scene is when relays he “tall tale” version of the battle–i.e., how Robb Stark and his men turned into werewolves using “vile sorcery” and ate the Lannister men alive. It’s just funny that the bozo keeps a straight face the whole time.
MATTHEWQuote Reply
Funniest scene for me by far was Tyrion and Lancelot in Tyrion’s litter.
AlanQuote Reply
MATTHEW,
I think that will prove to make him even funnier, simply because he’ll be so serious and ridiculous. I can’t wait for his interaction with Jaime, even though its a long way off.
Edited for spelling … grr

Udi’s suggestion of the Jaime/Cat/Brienne scene was great. So was Theon’s speech with the line about the Hornblower. Went with Jon and Ygritte – they are adorable together.

In the books Dolorous Edd, Grenn,Pyp and Sam often distracted me from the horrors
and threats beyond the Wall with their humor and antics. GoT has not delivered
those moments as much since S1. In S2 with Sammwell gushing over Gilly was often
followed up by a terrifying moment that his or the Brother’s were easily forgotten.
For some reason Benioff and Weiss have concentrated on Tyrion and Westeros for
comedic scenes ( much to my annoyance ) instead Dolorous Edd’s one-liners. Maybe
we’ll see more in upcoming season episodes.

I think the scene of Arya and Tywin’s final conversation should’ve been included. I love how she said most girls are stupid

The funny thing about that scene is the cut; Cersei says “I have every confidence that the brave men of the Night’s Watch will protect us all.”. Cut to the brave men of the Night’s Watch… chopping turnips and making fart jokes. We are the farting turnip choppers that guard the realms of men!
As for the poll… HOT PIE!

Sansa asking if Joffrey would lead the battle was great!

I must say I think some of the scenes mentioned in the comments were more hilarious than the ones nominated. But I can’t help but vote for Hot Pie’s legendary: “’cause they’ve got armour on”.
Bonus points for Lancel’s hilarious oafing (especially when he falls out of the carrier after the threats), Dolorous Edd and sarcastic Jaime! Would’ve made the vote better, although remeniscing in tge comments doesn’t hurt either ;)

Jason,
Hornblower was great, but Blackmailing of Lancel for the win!
Yellow DogQuote Reply
Whoever mentioned the Blackmailing of Lancel first – this! All of Tyrion and his hapless cousin’s scenes are comedic gold, imho.
“Ugh! Even torturing you is boring!” has become a tongue-in-cheek household phrase, just like “Cersei’s Wine-Arm” from the Blackwater episode has become a popular gesture.
As for the scenes actually nominated:
It’s tough to judge humor. Did I laugh and, if yes, how hard, seems a bit limited. Varys smoothly delivering the correct pronunciation of that unpronouncable name was delightful, but Varys always delights me. I found Jon’s storyline this season somewhat tedious and frustrating, but Ygritte pulled the game back for me, so that’s the scene that got my vote.
