A Flight of Sorrows writing line-up revealed

We previously reported the news that the folks behind Tower of the Hand were releasing a book entitled A Flight of Sorrows, containing a collection of Song of Ice and Fire essays. Now, with one month to go until its release, we can reveal its writer line-up… and it contains a familiar name. Yes, yours truly was asked to write a foreword for the essay collection and I was more than happy to oblige. It will be entitled, appropriately, “And Now It Begins…”. The rest of the essay titles, subjects and their authors can be found in the press release, after the break.

A Flight of Sorrows Revealed

Tower of the Hand: A Flight of Sorrows is coming out a month from today, and to celebrate, we’re letting you all in on a little secret: the book’s complete lineup (which, we’re delighted to finally share, includes a few more friendly faces from the Ice and Fire community).

Here we go:

    And Now It Begins…

The narrative parallels and foreshadowing of the Tales of Dunk and Egg

Afterword – Chelsea Monroe-Cassel, co-author of and A Feast of Ice and Fire
    Just Desserts

Appendix I: What’s a Game of Thrones without the Tower of the Hand?
Appendix II: The Creaking Door of House Manwoody

As you can see, it’s a packed house, and we’re excited to squeeze you into the nerdfest, as well.

(Note: the two appendices are previously published material – one at Corona’s Coming Attractions, the other at Tower of the Hand itself – that interviews the respective braintrusts behind TOTH and A Podcast of Ice and Fire. It’s collected here to heighten the reader’s enjoyment of these two wacky-but-popular ASOIAF staples.)

A Flight of Sorrows goes on sale on October 13th, exclusively at Amazon, for $5.99.

  • Seems like a must-have Christmas gift for every Thrones fan….. assuming they don’t buy it for themselves fore then! XD

  • Maisie Williams canceled Ringcon. Nothing can cheer me up right now :(
Maybe they have to shoot some scence again?

  • I’m glad all of the different websites and their captains seem to get along. It could very well be a rivalry type situation.

  • Definitely going to get this, a lot of those topics look really interesting. I’m especially excited for The prince Illyrio promised, and the Dunk and Egg one. I’m about halfway through the Mystery Knight now, and very glad I finally picked up all three up. They’re great!

  • Well if a woman will spend hours reading the musing of many fellow ASOIAF fans, might as well get the essay books as they come out to pass the time till March! Looks like interesting topics, and PHIL!!!!!! : – )

  • G_Lee,

Would have gone to her panel together with Miltos Yerolemou as well.
Now i hope Jason Momoa doesn’t have to cancel as well after his new movie started to shoot today.
Luckly i haven’t ordered any tickets, flight or hotel room yet.

  • Can’t wait for this!!

‘“A Game of Beds” – Amin Javadi, co-host of A Podcast of Ice and Fire
Marital infidelity, adultery, and fandom theories in A Song of Ice and Fire’
haha I feel like there’s going to be SanSan in this. Who knows, but all of them seem interesting!!
