They really shouldn’t because season 2 wasn’t as strong as season 1.
I didn’t think Dinklage would win two years in a row but I didn’t expect him to lose out to Jessie, I expected Gus to win.
Homeland’s debut season was exceptional but I honestly felt both Mad Men and Breaking Bad were superior. I also feel Homeland missed the mark with not following through in the finale.

Aaron Paul was really good, much better than Giancarlo Exposito (who speaks awful, awful spanish btw) and Homeland was as strong, if not better, than Breaking Bad, so it’s a well deserved victory imo )I think the finale was the only reasonable way to go btw)
I agree the second season of GoT wasn’t as strong as the first…there’s nothing to worry about though, Mad Men got 0 out of 17, as long as we keep getting nominated is allright

The problem with season 2 is it’s ACOK and that book didn’t blow my socks off, both the book and the season just didn’t really engross or excite me like the first did. They were still great though just not exceptional.
I’ve always felt GOT should win best drama during season 3 or 4 as ASOS is by far the best book.

I tend to think Season 1 was Game of Thrones best shot at an Emmy win. It had all the hype in the world and that season was arguably the only traditional Point A to Point B seasonal arc of the saga. I think the expanding narrative could make each season more difficult to accomplish in a way that grabs nomination committees attention…..
There are certainly some incredible moments to come, but will D&D’s writing and HBO’s 10-episode season allow those stories to really connect on all levels like the books? I sure hope so, but I do have my doubts. I think Game of Thrones will remain one of the better shows on TV, but I think the best hope for the series to win Best Drama was Season 1.
That said, it sounds like a cliche, but it really is true….. Being nominated for the awards is the reward itself. Being nominated is a sign of respect and acknowledgement that your show or performance was incredible…

I just love that the author wrote such a thoughtful review of the series after failing to warm up initially, actually sitting the first season out after “skimm[ing]” two episodes (thank goodness she finally saw the light!). Too many critics seem to dig their heels in and decide that if they aren’t going to review/like a series from the get-go, that’s it, no further discussion. I’m so pleased the author decided to give “Thrones” another go–as she found out, Westeros gives us rather a lot to think about!
I also love that she referred to Melisandre as “ketchup-haired.” XD

Aaron Paul deserved it, and Peter would have deserved it and I imagine a number of other actors would have as well. Acting isn’t so cut and dry like that. Kudos to Paul, who has been excellent.
I haven’t seen Homeland, but critics loved it — though I heard the beginning of the season was much better than the end and that’s where I think critical love (based on screeners) has melded with the mixed reviews (people who watched it).
I have no problem with it winning, or Mad Men or Breaking Bad. I am well behind on Mad Men and I’m caught up on Breaking Bad, and to be honest, I enjoyed GoT much more this year than either, but both are fantastic.
I would not have argued if Dinklage and GoTs won, and I wouldn’t argue with each of these.
The bigger travesty is that Modern Family is not, and has not been, anywhere near the best comedy on TV. The Drama category is stacked; Modern Family is some odd kinda good but still sanitized for generic tv that makes it perfect for the Emmys but leaves things like Louie or Parks and Rec on the sidelines despite being (to my mind) clearly superior shows.
