Sounds like it continues right where it left off, which would be fantastic as most people are expecting them to skip the battle and half a “Thank god we escaped that” scene instead.

Hopefully they show it, especially how Sam survives his predicament, I’m particularly interested in that lol

    The Greatsteve,

I was hoping it meant the battle…
I didn’t think they would want to kill him in the first episode. That scene needs a bit of a buildup, so I was hoping he’ll stick around for a couple more episodes. :( He;s such a great character…! Though mayhaps it could occurr at the very end of the first episode, just before the credits. Still, I’d prefer if we got a bit more of Jeor Mormont before his demise, and if we got to see the battle. That’d be awesome.

Very much liked Gemma’s interview but from the sound of it she’s not in season 3, or did I miss something?

I suppose at the least, they’d need Patrick Malahide back for a scene or two.

    Tír Airgid,

I also took that to mean the season opens with the attack on the Fist, and the subsequent battle. What an opener that would be, ey? Do we know who’s directing Ep.1? I personally think there is no way they’re killing the Old Bear that quickly, they need to reach Craster’s Keep and I don’t think that can happen before Ep. 3.

They should keep Gemma’s current appearance for Asha/Yara. She looks much more like Asha to me with that haircut and without the show makeup. She looks more attractive and it’d be much more belieavable to see men falling for her.

For some reason the 2 John Bradley interviews are not showing here, but a woman really enjoyed the other interviews. So cool to hear actors talking about how much they love the show and working on it, and their respect for the books too. Seems they all become fans of ASOIAF as much as we are after their initial introduction to the saga. S3 is destined to be captivating, wouldn’t be surprised if the audience grows even more in the next season.

I loved Gemma’s interview. I love seeing these actors talk and being amazed by how insanely different they are in real life – I guess that’s why it’s called acting I know but Miss Whelan comes across with her own gravitas and a charisma completely separate from her character. Let’s face it Yara at the moment has all the charisma of a sack of laundry. In future seasons they should exploit Gemma’s natural charms, let Yara wash her face, give her a comb and a less frumpy wardrobe, then she may yet catch up with the rest of the cast in terms of being a superb onscreen rendering. Yep, thoroughly charmed by that interview, I may have to review my Yara crush now.

I think Gemma is plenty hot. Sure not as hot as Doreah or Sansa but still attractive. I never pictured book Asha to be attractive at all. I think her appeal lies more in her lusty wantonness and her affinity to carry daggers in her bosom. I mean, who wouldnt want a girl you could bang and then pillage a village with after?

    Rygar,
I like the phrase “pillage a village”. I’m going to try to use that more often. “I’m not the village pillager, I’m the village pillager’s son, I’m only pillaging villages until the village pillager comes…and so on and so forth.

I always envisaged Asha as Ursa from Superman II. “Asha” “Ursa” I bet George did that deliberately, do we know if anyone has ever asked him that? Someone should definitely ask him that. I’d bet my house he fashioned her after the Kryptonian vamp.

Where, oh, where, is there any basis for a super attractive Asha in the books?

I don’t understand why people are worried he’s not going to return. He’s not like some big-name actor that is too busy or so highly-sought after that he regularly turns down work. And they are only going to need him for a few days. I’m sure he will be there.

Well, in the books every Ironman is trying to bang her. So she must be somewhat attractive.

I don’t think Gemma is unattractive, it’s just all the makeup and costumes that make her look as manly as Brienne IMHO. I don’t find her ugly, but the show kinda tries to make her uglier and more masculine. With my comment you quoted I just wanted to say she’d look better in the show and would look more closely to how she is presented in the books if she kept that same appearance she had on the interview on the show as well.

IIRC it’s said in the books that she has short hair and I think it suits both the actress and the character better that way.

Rest of the SanSan scene? I do not know what ur talking about. Sandor offered Sansa to leave with him and Sansa refused. I believe that is the end of that scene. In the book it occurred the same way except Sandor was scarier and more violent.

Finn Jones put this picture on Instagram this morning (also Sophie Turner “liked” one of my pictures last night… tee hee) and I’m not sure who the guy in red is. Also, Jason Momoa is in the picture so it could be old. Finn looks more like how he has in recent days, though. I’m thinking this was some kind of reunion or Jason just was visiting the set. Does anyone know who the guy in red is? Hopefully one of these links work. Also my Instagram name is ‘theroguehero’ if you want to follow each other or find some cast’s usernames.

I read the first 3 books a long time ago, so I’m the opposite of you. What did you think of the books after you had seen the TV show?

A Storm of Swords has some shocking plot twists and big, jaw-dropping surprises in it, and it’s generally considered the best book of the five so far by most fans (though, certainly not all)

I advise to read the books first. I read the first book after the first season, and the second book after the second season. Reading the 3rd, 4th, and 5th without seeing the show was much better in my opinion. I was much more interested in the reading and my imagination ran more wild than being more focused on what was included in the show. Just my take.

I think whichever you do first is the one you will probably enjoy more just because of the excitement of finding out the plot for the first time. Probably like a lot of people, I watched the first series as a newbie THEN read all the books. The second series, while brilliant, was not as exciting for me as the first simply because I knew what was coming. It’s a win-win / no-win situation! :-)

Thanks for the comments everyone! I started watching the series first and have found it very exciting. I’ve never looked forward to a TV show in my life like this. I find watching a story unfold on TV more entertaining and surprising; however, a novel has never gripped me like this before. More than anything, I’m just being impatient since we’re still many months away from the season three premier and I’ve already picked up A Storm of Swords.

As crazy as this sounds, I’ve never read a book prior to watching it on TV. For folks that have already read the books before watching it on HBO, are you still excited to see how everything will unfold? Reading the input from many viewers, it seems that there’s no guarantee that the upcoming season will follow the books to a tee. Who am I kidding – you’ve all talked me into it – I’m going for it!

By the way, this has to be the best forum on the internet, period. I’ve never seen so many respectful and knowledgeable folks in one place. I’m happy to be a part of it!! :-)

Glad you are enjoying the site! To answer your question about whether we still are excited to see how everything will unfold… Yes! It is fun to see the moments that you imagined in your head play out on screen. It is also fun to see how the writer’s adapt certain storylines. So there is still plenty of stuff to get excited about and look forward to, even if you already know some of what to expect.
