New interviews with Emilia Clarke and Julian Glover
By Ours is the Fury on in Media, Press.

In a new interview, Julian Glover shares the ups and downs of filming on location, how his character Grand Maester Pycelle was altered at his request, and what’s going on under the maester’s robes. Glover speculates on his character’s future and describes a new scene with Tywin Lannister in season 3.

The video contains several MAJOR SPOILERS, from the 3:05 mark onward. If you haven’t read A Storm of Swords, you may want to skip this video.

In other cast members news, Emilia Clarke spoke to Access Hollywood about Game of Thrones and her new Broadway gig, playing Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. When asked about GoT’s upcoming season, Clarke said:

“I’ve never in my life been more excited to see a season as Season 3. It’s gonna be good.”

Ours is the Fury: Glover is certainly free with the information in his interview! It’s clear as well that he’s put a great deal of thought into Pycelle and loves to talk about the show.

I’m so happy that all the actors that get interviewed seem as excited themselves for season 3 as the fans are. I’m sure it was super exciting for them, the first time reading the scripts for each episode and seeing all these amazing events and later of course, filming those scenes.

    So excited.

Yes, well we aren’t always in a race with Westeros to try to post something first. ;)

We try to space things out a bit, so that we have a fresh post each day, providing something new to discuss. Of course, the major and important news stories will always go up immediately. But for stuff like this, I think it is good to give it some more attention by waiting and posting it on a slower news day.

What a fantastic interview, with his lifetime perspective as an actor. I have to re-read the epilogue in ADWD to consider if his death will be dramatic enough to meet his desired demise.

It is funny to see someone other than the main characters doing an interview. It gives a nice change from perspective.

Plus, the man is a huge spoiler. Funny to see how he rufused to talk about the way Tywin Lannister dies but, did actually told he would!

Season three is coming you guys!!!

Kind’ve funny how he says he hopes his character has a decent death: one that he can act and yet in the book he’s killed “off screen” I wonder if they will change that or show that so he gets his wish?

I also love how he mentions several times the demise of Tywin

Really? Where have I been?! I have not heard or read before now that there is a “rumor” of Emilia dating Seth. That pairing feels very odd to me. I mean I like Seth’s stuff (mainly Family Guy), but if asked to pick 100 guys for her I’d never think to put him on the list. :P Doing a quick Google images search I see a bunch of pics of them, so yeah – huh

I don’t think he meant that Tywin’s death was in this season. I bet that he and Charles Dance were just having a character death exchange and he mentions “Oh yeah well my character dies like this…” and they have a good laugh about it. Dance has stated in previous interviews that he knows his character’s fate (and didn’t seem too amused about it either).

I understand, and it’s a good thing what you do. (btw: I loved your “always” :)) ). The funny thing is that Westeros is often late with the news (if they even publish them..); and it’s not really a race. Winter is much more abundant in news and mostly you post them first. This one seemed like “Oh, ok, we let you have this one first” :))

Haha, it’s always funny to see you guys start flipping out a bit about nothing. In the interview with Dance he actually says he doesn’t know his fate and at that moment he had already read the scripts of this season and filmed it. His death won’t be in this season for sure, don’t worry. Neither will the death of Joffrey by the way. Except for Balon I dont really see a hated charater dying outside of Dany’s adventures.

I’m not sure about that. The actress who plays Lysa returned for filming this year, according to this very website. All her scenes take place after the event you just mentioned; so unless they added scenes for her, which I doubt, that event happens in the finale.

Wow, I must say, this is one of the greatest interviewes with a cast member of GoT I’ve seen so far. This is worlds apart from those show promoting interviews where the actors tell us how great the upcoming season is and nothing else. You can really tell the actors are on a leash in those, but this is quite the opposite and rather spontaneous, fun and long. Now, give us something similar with Conleth Hill please. That would be awesome.

Seems like a really nice guy. I’m going to have to go back and watch that Bond movie and try to pick out both Glover and Dance.

I really enjoy the interviews with the older actors. They just have so much experience, and to know they get so delighted when talking about GoT means it’s really good. You expect the younger actors to be happy for the exposure and dark juicy storylines, but when the older actors are just as giddy, it lends the production even more cred.

Hill’s comments would be greatly appreciated on my end too. His role is full
of choice bits. I wouldn’t be surprised if interviews of him are on hold or censored.
Perhaps in later seasons and/or episodes, viewers may get a tidbit of his perceptions
    for Vary’s portrayal.

That’s one of the best interviews I’ve seen for this show, or indeed from most actors. I love his enthusiasm, that he gets so into it that he wants to get his character more fleshed out, and then when he talked about his policy of avoiding the books until it’s over so he doesn’t get bitter at the writers for doing their difficult job of cutting some tasty bits from the books, as must be done always in the interest of time. Pretty wise. But it’s clear that this is more than a job and a paycheck for him, but something he gets real enjoyment from, and that’s great.

I also learned that he was that scuzzball Donovan in Last Crusade, and that makes me really happy. One of my favorite movies since I was six years old.

I’m not so sure on that one. We could see the Red Wedding and PW in consecutive episodes, almost as a celebration for Joffrey so episodes 7-9. So the poisoning and imprisonment and fleeing for the climax of 9-10. I think it makes a lot of sense to leave out the Red Viper although its disappointing to readers. It adds a character who is rather unnecessary to the overall story and sets up a great arc for Tyrion’s travels next season.

But then again they could just as easily spread out the story for as many seasons so GRRM can finish. Food for thought

    Jaime Saltcliffe,

I don’t know why everyone is making a big deal about this whole thing on what will be in this season and what won’t. I honestly believe that there is a close to 0% chance that PW will happen this season. I know anything is technically possible but Dan and David would really be screwing the pooch if they pushed PW up to this season. The RW should be the main focus this season. If people are thinking they would push it forward to balance out a certain death, they’re wrong. Look at season one! Ned died and no one bad on the opposing side did. I just believe that you guys are arguing for something that is very unlikely to occur this season. It would totally take away from the emotional appeal of the RW.

After watching this interview and the one with Charles Dance (it’s linked to after the one with Julian Glover finishes), I can’t help but wonder if Tywin’s death scene is somehow in season 3. I can’t imagine that, because it would involve a lot of rearranging I suppose, but next to the Red Wedding, that particular scene is one I’m looking forward to the most.. And it seems both Charles Dance and Julian Glover are excited about that as well! :)

Oh, and I fear Mr. Glover might be a little dissappointed by his death scene if it’s shot the way it’s written.. Though I can’t see them filming it with Varys actually killing him onscreen, which would ruin the surprise of Kevan Lannister getting killed..

They both mentioned the death scene as “next year” so definitely not in season 3.

Well he did say he wanted a death scene like Charles’, so maybe they’ll swap Kevan and Pycelle’s deaths, so Pycelle gets the crossbow death just like Tywin. Tv only viewers definitely know Pycelle more than Kevan so I could see it happening.

I was having a heard time seeing Tywin having his death scene this season, so I agree they were genuinely referring to next year, as in next season. I assumed the interviews were done in 2011/2012, so I feared they might mean 2013

As for the other thing, I’m not sure I’d like that change from the book. I mean, Grand Maester Pycelle is a wonderful character, but having him as Hand of the King? Besides, the actor who plays Kevan has stopped by a couple of times, said a few lines here and there (in both seasons), so I’m assuming they’ll just use him; they’ll just have to introduce him a little more thoroughly..

You misunderstood, I don’t mean make Pycelle hand of the king.
In the books remember, Kevan is told Pycelle is seeking him but when he gets there he see’s Pycelle dead with his head smashed in and Kevan himself gets show with a crossbow by Varys.

I simply meant to have Pycelle get shot with the crossbow (Like Tywin) and have Kevan’s head caved in.
