I don’t get the grumpy cat one, Stannis is my favorite character! That’s alive at the end of DoD anyway… Liked the Arya one though, he could get annoying on sick days I imagine.

Taking things WAY too seriously. Not that I think either of these are funny myself, but… Maybe this should go from a comedy related thing to simply cool GoT/ASoI&F things from around the web, that also includes the funny stuff.

lol stannis the grumpy one…

Absolutely pathetic, this is the best you could find? Dear lord.

A woman apologizes for the blatant rudeness of some of the posters who clearly do not appreciate your humor this week. Azad, this woman, who has been ill from the flu for 2 weeks, appreciated the sentiment and the drawings are top notch ‘toons!
FYI posters – In polite company it is still the correct thing to do to appreciate the effort, no matter if the laugh is smaller than usual! Shame on your manners!
Grumpy Cat is always a winner to this lover of the feline species!

I really liked your comic. It’s not everyday you find something this creative.

GoT fan humor is disappointingly limited. A few of the abridged parodies are choice, but for the most part, there is no sustained output of quality fan-derived material.
I find some irony in knowing many reject entertaining the idea of being called “Thronies” due to the word’s similarity to “bronies.” The brony community is one of the single most prolific fanbases of the last decade. The GoT fandom can’t even claim a sliver of that metric, despite its relatively broad appeal among adults. :(
WompWompQuote Reply
Ha ha. Right, then.
OT. My understanding is that GoT is nominated for 1 (one) SAG award tonight.
Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series.
The nominees are…
*Boardwalk Empire
*Breaking Bad
*Game of Thrones
*Sons of Anarchy
*The Walking Dead
These are all great shows. But … Blackwater.
“Possibly the best hour of TV of the year” – Time.
“Arguably the best battle sequence ever produced for television” — EW.
To paraphrase Tyrion, there are great television shows nominated for this award — let’s go kill them!
Mike ChairQuote Reply
And the actor goes to … GoT.
Congratulations to the GoT ensemble stunt cast!
Mike ChairQuote Reply
Mike Chair,
Good to hear about the SAG award for the stunt team!
Just as a general comment on the notable snubs GoT season 2 has received this year, if we put aside other things like pacing different from season 1, to many characters to juggle, too much nudity and gore etc i think it’s safe to say that one of the main reasons why GoT was snubbed is because it aired too early in the year? This late summer and fall was all about Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead etc. I think the GoT buzz machine just died, it didn’t have the hot show momentum of last year. Maybe the events in season 3 will give it that required juice.
Joshua TaylorQuote Reply
Joshua Taylor,
Yeah. I like to think that the general knowledge is that season 3 is going to knock it out of the park and will clean up the awards next year. That’s what I like to think, anyway.
Mike ChairQuote Reply
I like the art style, for example love how he draws the characters to so closely resemble the show version (Miltos’ curls! <3) rather than some imagined book version. So I thought the comic was fun and cute.
And if any character from the series is Grumpy Cat, it would be Stannis. I got some light chuckles from this week's post at least :)
ZackQuote Reply
WompWomp,
Someone calls me a “Thronie” they will get punched in the face.
KGQuote Reply
The cat is funny because Stannis hates cats, doesn’t even mind eating them. Damn, that was one of the funniest scenes from season 2.

WompWomp,
There’s loads of great GoT humor when the show is on. With ten episodes a year, the show is picked clean of amazing fresh humor after a few months. Instead of being impolite about those who are producing stuff, like Azad, how about you make a contribution to the GoT fandom and create something funny?

It’s not really GOT, but there’s a great video of Charles Dance reading Fifty Shades of Grey out there. I can’t get the link (am at work and it’s blocked for profanity), but it’s easily google-able.

It basically is jsut a combination of GRRM’s froggy clue and the news that actors (plural) flew to LA to film that NCW metioned earlier this month, but it does have a nice photo of Bart Jr. XD
DarquemodeQuote Reply
Maybe the tact isn’t there, but I respect the people who at least voiced their opinion that the first one wasn’t funny. Humor is a matter of taste after all, and sometimes criticism can help the humorist. It’s certainly better than polite laughter, which only serves as a false positive. Anyway, the comic may not have made everyone laugh, but I’m glad it amused some people. I certainly appreciated the parody.
I’m getting sick of grumpy cat, but that has nothing to do with thrones. Stannis is a good choice though. I chuckled.
NoxAeturnusQuote Reply
NoxAeturnus,
Well said. For the record, (as the artist) none of the comments upset me personally. Humor is subjective, fans are passionate, and the internet is the perfect place to vent if you don’t like something.
I suppose there’s something to be said about being polite, but there’s an art to being troll too :)
I’m happy to hear jeers as much as cheers. Theres value to both. I’ll try to keep doing good work, but I know I can’t please everyone. Ah well…
