Lost: One dragon, goes by the name Drogon
By Winter Is Coming on in Marketing.

Well, isn’t this cute. In this new ad from Time Warner Cable, Drogon, lost and alone, wanders the city attempting to find his owner. He hears her voice, glimpses her through a window, but where is she?

Winter Is Coming: TWC must have dropped some coin on this ad. It really shows the wide appeal for this show when the cable companies are looking to use it to draw in subscribers.

Looks like a lot of reused CGI-footage from the show itself. Still cleverly done.

That’s actually not a bad commercial. Game of Thrones meets the 21st century.

TWC knows what shows on TV are best. See their Super Bowl spot with Darryl Dixon from The Walking Dead.

Pardon? What has Time Warner owning HBO to do with how much money was spent on the production of this ad?

As that Wikipedia article states, Time Warner Cable is now completely separate and independent from Time Warner.

    JumboMcNasty,

What was meant here is that the ad itself was not cheap given the CGI work (reused or not), it was not about royalties.

There’s also a brazilian cable company advertising the season 3 premiere in order to get more subscribers.

I get a kick out of how light the tone of this is, considering how dark the show is. People will see this and be like, oh what an adorable little creature, let’s check this show out for more cuteness! Then they will tune in to the new season and see him melting people’s faces off sandwiched in between scenes involving incest and torture.

Which reminds me … when are we going to see GOT stuffed dragons? Not plush; they should have brocade scales to remind that they are not teddy bears, but still cuddle-able.

    Knurk,
Just so everyone knows, I created the dragon for Seasons 2 and 3 of game of thrones. The model of the dragon in the commercial is the same as the second season of the show but all the animation and rendering was done by Pixomondo specifically for the commercial. No existing footage was used.
