New “Enemies” preview released
By Winter Is Coming on in Media.

A new 30-second spot for Game of Thrones has been airing on TV and now HBO has uploaded it to Youtube. Lots of footage already seen in other trailers, but there are a few new shots and a good bit of new dialogue.

Winter Is Coming: Remember when we were begging for any sort of promo from HBO? Those days seems like a loooong time ago now.

Sansa and Shae turning their heads at the same time made me lol.

SOOOOOOO excited for The Hound’s trial by combat, and the excitement is growing with every new 0.0001 second clip we get in every trailer :)

Man, I just can’t get enough – every trailer is fantastic. I loved this one! Can’t wait can’t wait ~~~ Is it just me, or is the promotion for this season a million times more intense than the last two?

Interesting new bit of dialogue with Cersei. I assume that’s from the scene during which Tyrion grabs an axe (already seen in previous trailers) and maybe a helmet (that would explain the POV shot). Can’t wait.

EDIT : silly me, that’s not the pov shot of inside a helmet. But I still think it’s Tyrion.

Who’s Cersei talking to behind the wooden door?! It seems like a prisoner, so I don’t think it’s Tyrion (who doesn’t get imprisoned until Season 4).

I’m also glad that they seem to be emphasizing the fact that Cersei tried to have Tyrion killed in Blackwater … I don’t know ANY show-only watchers who picked up on that (including myself since I watched both seasons before reading all the books!) … it’s obvious once you know, but only really subtle if you aren’t SUPER into who is who and what colors everyone is wearing. I mean, red cloak v. white cloak v. gold cloak meant NOTHING to me before reading the books.

    MATTHEW,

I thought it was Tyrion, but he was behind a door locked from the INSIDE- not locked in as a prisoner.

Maybe it is a new scene soon after he wakes up recalling Ser Mandon Moore tried to kill him under what he assumes were Cersei’s orders. So he is a bit paranoid, ducking behind his door?

    Jen,

Varys explicitly tells Tyrion that Cersei was the one who tried to have him killed in the season two finale. It was a pretty quick scene, though, and not the main focus, so it was kind of easy to miss, I guess.

    Khal-A-Bunga,

A lot of people (myself included) seemed to kind of interpret that as her trying to kill him just by sending him into the battle … or something. I mean, seriously there is A LOT there to miss as a non-reader … I missed SO MANY details on my first watch-through of both seasons. Like, completely forgot and missed and then when reading the books thought “why didn’t they have xyz?” and then on a re-watch realized THEY DID and it was just quick. The story is fantastic, but overwhelming.

I would like them all named extras this season even if they do not get speaking roles I guess, but I think more likley this will happen…
    - We will not get 3 Kettleblacks, but maybe we will get one to be Cersei’s pawn?
    - We should get Arys Oakheart, but maybe Season 4…
    - Blaon Swann will show up the following year…

I don’t think Cersie did order Tyrion’s death. Yes a KG tries to kill him and in the books he assumes it is her, but never really gets a confirmation. My pet theory is that somewhere down the line we will find that LF has orchestrated this assasination attempt, and Ned’s beheading (up until Joff gives the order to behead both Varys and Cersei believe that Ned will be allowed to take the black).

Think about it, Tyrion was actually doing good things in KL undermining the chaos/unrest that Cersei/Joff had created.

anyways this is not necessarily the place for theories but I had to throw that out there lol.

They briefly showed a member of the Kingsguard on the boat when Myrcella is shipped off to Dorne, so we should get Arys Oakheart.

    Darquemode,

Ha! So, I’m not alone on this. ;-)

    From Jerome Flynn’s interview:

“He’s just about sticking it with Tyrion,” Jerome said. “He’s getting a bit frustrated, underpaid. He’s not got the position he had, but there’s still love between them. And some good, some nice scenes together, but not much.”

It appears that TV!Bronn decides to stick with Tyrion in the show (as we’ve seen in some promo pictures) but, still, they won’t have many scenes together.. which might be pointing to the fact that he will die quickly. We’ll see.

I think I’d like that change. It would bring way more drama than just have him disappear off-screen somewhere at some point.

    Posted March 20, 2013 at 1:23 pm | Permalink

    Darquemode,

I doubt Bronn gets the cut this season. I do recall Jerome Flynn stating in an interview how his scenes “This year” is very limited but critical and I think he speculated we’ll see more of him later on. On a script level, Bronn needs to be alive at least till season 4 so that he denies Tyrion at the very end of his trial which leads to the epic sequence of events. So no, after carefully cultivating him into this epic bad ass I sincerly doubt he’d get ganked by 2 random dudes (even if they are the kingsguard).

PS: Thx Darquemode for those videos :D

    Josla,

OhI agree with you for the most part.
I’m not one of those that thinks characters need to die early to save on costs or that D&D will kill off too many characters still living in the books.

With Bronn it feels different to me.

He really has been a fairly major supporting character that the audience may notice disappearing for an extended time. With Tyrion bound for Essos next season I wondered if they may feel the need to conclude Bronn’sstory. Since I like Bronn I started trying to figure out what they could do with his character…

With Lollys not appearing in the TV series (so far) it removes Bronn’s storyline from the books. It felt like it may make “TV show sense” to kill him or merge him with some other role that remains in KL in the books. It really doesn’t make sense for Tywin or Cersei to reassign him as Gold Cloaks’ commander (after demoting him) or to the Kingsguard. Not sure what other role would keep him around and active in Kings Landing without Tyrion there.

Personally I want Bronn to stick around. Im okay with him living off-screen and maybe reappearing down the road.

  59. Mormegil

Nezzer: Really? What scene is that?

Season 1 (Ep 10) where Marillion gets his tongue cut out.

There’s 5 Kingsguard (including the Hound) on the Dais and then there’s 4 more at the other end of the throne room, adding in Jaime makes 10.

It’s most likely just a mistake in filming/editing, they must have shot the scene from 2 angles and wanted Kingsguard on guard in both not realising that it meant there were 9 of them in the room.

At the time I did wonder if they had decided to keep the number of Kingsguard vague (so they could just introduce new ones when needed) but then in the 2nd season IIRC Renly does mention that there should be 7 members in a Kingsguard which does suggest the Season 1 scene was a mistake.

As I said it was probably a mistake as it’s clear the scene was shot from two different angles and they probably used the same Kingsguard actors in both shots but it ends up with 9 Kingsguard in the room

    Synnerman,

    Exactly…. That’s what I have been wondering…
Could Trant take Blount’s parts or parts of the Kettleblacks?
Both Trant and Blount are more loyal to Cersei, like she thinks the Kettleblacks are.

Blount being an inept buffoon and the Kettleblacks being imposing buffoons they are different physical types I guess….. Blount is almost comic relief more than necessary. From being a pawn in Cersei’s plan as the only available KG to fight for Margaery to becoming Tommen’s food-taster. it really not that vital a role, but the two duties I noted would be fun on TV I think..

Osmund Ketteblack does not do much other than being Cersei’s thing. Beds her, disposes of bodies and bears falsee witness for her… the dirty work I guess.

Osfryd Kettleblack does similar duties doesn’t he? He does get raised to Gold Cloaks commander. A Kingsguard could not do both… so they may need one non-Kingsguard Kettleblack (or minion) if they want to follow that book plot.

I forget what the other Kettleblack did ther than being part of Cersei’s frame job on Margaery etc

The way the show is shot and not having as many sub-plots, most of that could be done by one Kingsguard member like Trant maybe…. or Trant and one minion.

    Michel,

Oakheart is going to be pretty important in season 4 or 5. They will probably wait to hire an actor for him, though, until he is actually important, much like with Oberyn Martell.

    Joshua Taylor,

I’ve found it impossible to read anything in Esquire. Any magazine with 40 pages of ads before the table of contents deserves to be burned.

    SPOILERS

I don’t think that Littlefinger ordered the hit on Tyrion. It was probably just simpy Joffrey.

    Anne,

Yes, I just saw that ad a few minutes ago! It was fantastic, I almost squealed when I saw that scene! No, you are not crazy!

WAIT. Really??!! *do the praise R’hllor dance*

    Can someone upload that commercial??

Thanks for those who responded on my pet theory.

I think that the hit on Tyrion could’ve been either Varys or LF, as it also works for Varys to keep KL in chaos, possibly even to let Stannis in (as he could disappear into the tunnels which he later does anyways). But the beheading of Ned Stark obviously threw him for a loop.

I don’t want Bronn to die… but if his storyline in the book is truly an aside and not going anywhere then it would make sense for the show.
