Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first two limited-edition Game of Thrones posters from Mondo and I have to say… they are pretty awesome.

Interesting design! The amount of detail is amazing, especially in the second one.

The Ghost one looks neat.

Really love the Jon and Ghost one.. The Iron Throne one is also amazing but i find the other slightly more appealing visually.

I guess someone already reported it, but there is a video called “Inside wildlings” set to air on March 25th: http://www.hboondemand.com/apps/hodschedule/hod/details.do?FID=PMRS399221

Far more importantly, you DO notice where Jon Snow’s sword is pointing, right?
Steel_WindQuote Reply
Love these. Almost seems to appear as if there’s several paths to the Iron Throne, some dead ends, some not.

Not bad, not bad.
Another trailer please!

They look great. I want one!

zod,
Y’all know where to find Lord Snow now. :]
The composition of the Jon-Ghost poster is disappointing. A pinch wonky.
I’d love a non-graphic poster with mildly edited photos of the cast in one piece to capture the rich scope of the series.

Is that the tower of joy? Lol!

Steel_Wind,
Dude that was like the first thing I noticed! Nice grab!

That Jon/Grey Wind one is especially good, but both of these are superior to any of the official posters for the show thus far. You can tell these were designed for walls, not browser screens.

I don’t get why Jon’s sword is poin…. HOLY SHIT CONSPIRACY!
Seven Hells BellsQuote Reply
Can’t say I’m taken with the Jon Snow one. It reminds me of the sort of thing you get embroidered on black velvet throws on certain home shopping channels.
Beyond the WallQuote Reply
OT, but I just got to meet/pet a real live wolf up close today! It kinda looked like Greywind.

I don’t get it. Ashford? Please explain :)

If Season 3 doesn’t set some sort of ratings record for HBO I’ll be surprised.

Summerhall…

John W,
It won’t but hopefully it can get True Blood type ratings now.

Are those posters for sale? Can you buy them over the internet?
Can’t find any info about that. Does anyone know?

Where is his sword pointing?!

Cool, still think Rhys did the best GoT posters… http://studioseppuku.bigcartel.com/

I came to mention the sword pointing at the ToJ, but since that has already been said… Who or what are the two figures next to the point of Jon’s sword?
DuffmidQuote Reply
What? ToJ/ Summerhall…? Nice :) I want both, the throne/landscape is especially well-done.
mags giantsbabeQuote Reply
And where does one pre-order these or buy them?
Chris S.Quote Reply
lol Jon and Grey Wind? Try again, friendo. ;)
dubqQuote Reply
Shouldn’t be difficult. They broke 4.2m with the season 2 finale, and only looks to be going up.
True Blood averages around 4.5 ~ 4.9m (at least for the last season, they did).

Sweet!
Mrs. H’gharQuote Reply
Jon’s sword is pointing to the ToJ. That’s pretty sick.

if you want to buy them i would follow on twitter. When posters go up for sale they sell out in minutes

Isn’t ToJ supposed to be somewhere in Dorne? I think Jon’s sword is pointing to Summerhall.
FawkesQuote Reply
Fawkes,
Yeah. The TOJ would be to the South and West of where the sword is pointed.
Tyrion PimpslapQuote Reply
Here at Mondo in Austin, TX . Iron Throne is yummy. The art work is fantastic.
Rad1999Quote Reply
Fawkes,
It IS probably a little too far West, but it’s reasonably close. Moreover, the sword’s shadow is not shaped like a sword, but is more evocative of a stylized tower as well. It’s not *obvious*, but it’s there.
Steel_WindQuote Reply
Well that’s pretty disappointing. Doesn’t seem worth the hassle.
Thanks for the link though.

I might be wrong but I’ve always gotten the impression that the Tower of Joy and Summerhall are part of the same structure? It’s how I read it. If the toj is in Dorne, what was Lyanna doing there so far away south? Why did Rhaegar “take her there”? Or is her distance from Harrenhall part of that whole mystery surrounding her and Rhaegar’s disappearance? I’m pretty curious about this because I’m writing a little Rhaegar/ Lyanna fan fiction at the moment.
mags giantsbabeQuote Reply
Why would he keep her in the middle of contested territory, especially if the spoilery rumors were true?
MRRQuote Reply
I’m quite sure that he is pointing at Summerhall. If you look on the IaF Wiki (http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Summerhall) the map has it at pretty much the same point, while the Tower of Joy is in the Prince’s Pass in the Red Mountains, which is a little farther south (http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Red_Mountains).
Maybe he was conceived there, before moving to the ToJ?
PyreQuote Reply
MRR, exactly. And I didn’t know Dorne was contested territory. I thought the marriage with Elia was supposed to clear that up… Also, how did the those five members of the Kings Guard end up knowing where Rhaegar was? How were they convinced to leave the royal household in the middle of war and protect (or keep prisoner) Rhaegar’s supposed lover instead far away? Was that just the loyalty the Prince inspired in his men? That the KG would rather protect Rhaegar than king Aerys?
mags giantsbabeQuote Reply
R
Tyrion Pimpslap,
He’s definitely not pointing at summer hall. He’s pointing directly west of the north entrance to the princes pass and summerhall is in the marches just west of storms end. I agree that ToJ is a little bit farther south than where he is pointing but that’s probably the intended place. If we are going to go off literally where he is pointing, it’s actually closest to Horn Hill.
