Episode 22 Preview: “Dark Wings, Dark Words”

“Who are you? Who do you fight for?” – Arya Stark

“Sansa says too much. Shae asks Tyrion for a favor. Jaime finds a way to pass the time. Arya runs into the Brotherhood Without Banners.”

In this episode, written by Vanessa Taylor and directed by Daniel Minahan, we also catch up with Bran and his traveling companions, still on the run after the razing of Winterfell. “Dark Wings, Dark Words” features the introduction of Diana Rigg as Olenna Tyrell and Mackenzie Crook as Orell. And, of course, we get reacquainted with Brienne and the Kingslayer.

Ours is the Fury: Several new characters besides Olenna and Orell get their introduction in this episode, so it should be exciting and jam-packed with fresh faces.

  • What could the title reffer? Robb and Cat knowing by a raven of Bran and Rickon “deaths”?

  • Jamies lines were perfect for his character until he told her we dont get to choose who we love. Thats something he might tell her back in kings landing but not this soon in there journey

  • This episode will also feature Catelyn’s monologue.

Brace yourselves, the “Oh no, they ruined Catelyn” comments are coming.

  • When will we see the fight between Hound and Beric Dondarrion? (How do you type Beric’s name, how many R’s?)

  • zod,

as long as they make me keep hating her character the way GRRM did im okay with is, and right now I hate her Character. i for one will be cheering around the end of the season for that scene. i hope the keep in the line. “he loved my hair”

You can start by adding spoiler tags to your post like everyone else

  • Loved the premiere, but I’m looking forward to the Arya and Jaimie/Brienne storylines more than anything else this season.

  • Will we see Locke and any Brave Companions this episode, I wonder? And if we see the Brave Companions, might last season’s Rorge and Biter be among them? When will the Hound return?

  • Michel:
What could the title reffer? Robb and Cat knowing by a raven of Bran and Rickon “deaths”?

Either that or a Raven from Riverrun informing Cat of her father’s death.

  • With this preview we now know what the Arboretum stands for. “I want you, to tell me the truth about this..Joffrey!” the Sansa-Marg-QoT trio will be splendid! My absolut fav moment I wait for in the next ep!

  • I’ve been waiting for a post appropriate enough for my rant. Until now, GRRM’s tedious ways have not gotten to me. A few days ago I started reading on the Internet about his progress, so to speak, and I gotta say I’m completely disappointed in him. He’s kind of unprofessional about it. The whole prediction and delaying and now the ‘it’s done when its done’ attitude. George, you’re and amazing writer and all and we love your story so much that we take this kinda stuff personal. So get real! Realize that ASOIAF is not what it was 5 years ago, please take it seriously and write! What are all these side jobs and readings at events! We don’t want that, we want The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring before we see it on HBO
Sorry. Still admire and respect you though.

  • Christian,

It’s essentially Varamyr with Orell’s name.

It’s going to rock! From all I’ve heard, Diana Rigg is pretty much just “The Dowager Countess of Westeros,” if there are any Downton Abbey fans out there.

  • Christian,

I hope so, because Mackenzie Crook is amazing and if he is just Orell, he would die these season, but as Varamyr/Orell he would made it until S4 or S5

  • I hope as the season passes, we see more chatacters of the BwB besides Thoros, Anguy and Beric, and the same for the wildings. I can’t see for example, Arya just talking with 3 guys in a group of 15 more or less, in 5 episodes

As long as you hate the characters you hated in the books, you don’t care how they’re portrayed?

Will you be cheering with joy when Robb Stark, his mother and 3500 bannermen are slaughtered at Edmure’s wedding? Or is it just difficult to get attention otherwise?

  • Michel,

He can be burned by Melisandre at the end of S4, when Stannis comes at the Wall. Two seasons are pretty good for a rather minor character such as his, wich is also a bit villainous. I mean, maester Luwin, Irri, etc, as minor characters. had 2 seasons each.

  • Michel,

I think it will be better if they just focus of a few members of the Brotherhood instead of trying to develop too many. I would be fine if Thoros and Anguy are given the most lines but will miss some of the others. Have Tom and Lem been cast? I would have loved to have seen the whole group but there just isnt enough time to feature all of them.
I really just hope we get a one on one scene between Arya and Beric. Maisie Williams is probably my fave actor on the show and has had amazing chemistry with everyone she has worked with (Sean Bean, Charles Dance, Francis Magee) so i would love to see her and Richard Dormer together :)

(And i would love it if John Hurt was cast as the Kindly Man for future seasons. Him and Maisie would be great together)

  • Seems like it will be a great episode – I can’t wait.
Looking forward to the Jaime vs Brienne sword fight most of all.
Also hoping that there will be a scene where
Robb leaves Harrenhal, leaving Roose Bolton there to be in charge. That seems to be the case judging by the trailer as we see Robb and his men travelling (presumably leaving Harrenhal on the way to Riverrun) Robb’s talking with Rickard Karstark and we don’t see Roose.
This is the sort of thing that doesn’t seem immediately important but will be later on because Roose needs to be there for when Jaime and Brienne turn to be able to pass on Jaime’s regards to Robb…

  • Can’t wait for Arya and Jaime/Brienne, I liked the first episode but I really missed them! They have my favourite storylines from SoS.

  • WheelofIceandFire,

(And i would love it if John Hurt was cast as the Kindly Man for future seasons. Him and Maisie would be great together)

If it’s me, I think that role gets cut, and they bring back Jaqen H’Ghar for that.

  • Michel,

I was under the impression that the Jaime vs. Brienne swordfight was in this coming episode, how can they do that without them being taken to Locke immediately after?

  • Book spoilers:
It’s worth noting that the idea that Orell is an amalgam of Orell and Varamyr, while a popular theory and not unreasonable, has not been confirmed. Given that Orell does not show the unique trait of Varamyr (warging six different animals) and does show the characteristics of Orell (wargs an Eagle, hates and mistrusts Jon) it seems possible to me that Orell was simply pushed back, like many other characters (e.g. the Reed siblings). There’s really no hard evidence to suggest we won’t get Varamyr in S4. He’s a peripheral enough character that it is probably unlikely anyway, but since Orell is likely to be dead by the time Melisandre makes it to the wall (likely in S4) with Stannis, he could assume his book role of taking over Orell’s eagle at that point, and having it burned in mid-air by Mel.

  • Dogmayor,

Maybe and maybe not, given the jet packs Littlefinger has. I don’t know if they’ll make such a distinction, or disappear him for a time, or alter the timelines. They could do all those things.

  • thisone,

no i love the north and rob and most of the north men except for the boltans and karstarks. but i love to hate cats character as most people do. I, like a lot of other fans see her charcter as one of the biggest reasons for the war being started. Not saying its all her because its not but her actions in the first two books and seasons is directly related to a lot of good honorable north mens death. That is why I will cheer when she bites it. and That scene in the books, while horrible, is completely nescesary to keep the story and characters going with an awsome twist. its like a domino effect just the same as when ned died. And it will set up the best part of the series. “THE NORTH REMEMBERS”

  • This is off topic but why did HBO take S1 off on demand? I know WIC said it would be nice to see the ratings hit 5m million before the season finale but it will be a lot harder for the show to grow its audience now without S1 on demand.

  • JamesL:

    $$$

Now if people want to watch season 1 for the first time or rewatch (LEGALLY), they have to go out and buy the DVD/Blu-Ray/digital version.

  • zod,

Ah, I see. Thanks for pointing that out. Still, it’s unfortunate that we don’t get more Rorge and Biter action. I like those vicious bastards and giving them screentime this season will keep them fresh in peoples minds for the showdown with Brienne.

  • Yo Cat is the best. Haters to the Wall.

Arya’s scenes look really well done. Can’t wait to see this.
Oh and Diana Rigg is going to be in this one! Ahh so perfect for Olenna.

  • JamesL,

In order to get to 5 million viewers for the Sunday 9 PM premier, the show just needs 600 thousand of the 7+ million viewers to watch it live on Sunday, instead of watching it later on DVR/HBO GO/On Demand/subsequent airings.

  • James,

I don’t think Orell is going to last the season. We know Jon gets attacked by the eagle because Kit has done interviews in full on scratched up face makeup, so it seems likely that Orell dies one way or another and wargs into the bird.

  • Dogmayor,

This is the TV show not the books though. Once they start to cover AFFC/ADWD there is going to be significant alterations to the story and whatever the hell is going on with Jaqen in Oldtown is highly unlikely to be in the show. He most likely will be taking the role of the Kindly Man

  • JamesL,

Jaqen could fill the role but it still wouldnt be the same actor (Tom Wlaschiha). So they could just have the Kindly Man be the new ‘face’ of Jaqen and have John Hurt play him.

Basically, i just really want John Hurt to be on the show (as well as several other actors) and would love to see him interact with Maisie Williams :)

  • OK, folks. Huge TV spoiler ahead (even for bookheads like me). Seriously, if you don’t want to know stop reading NOW….

    Really, STOP.

    I mean it.

According to a post on the “Wedding of Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey” Facebook page, supposedly from an on-set report it would appear that Lady Stoneheart makes an appearance in Episode 10. This gives the episode’s title, “Mysha,” a whole new meaning. Valar Morghulis.

  • Mrs. Emma Peel
    Contessa Theresa Draco Divicenzo.
    Olenna Tyrell, Queen of Thorns.

    Yeah Diana Rigg is awesome.

  • And since Michelle’s name will be in the credits for the episode (Just as Sean Bean’s was for S01E10) the audience will expect nothing. Mwahahahahahahaha……Please let this be a true rumour!

  • tysnow,

He does capture them in epi.2 though, the commenter just meant that he doesn’t do it with the Brave Companions

  • GreatJon of Slumber,

I am of the opinion they will relocate cat of the canals to Oldtown, lowers expenses. Furthermore I am of the opinion, Vict/Euron will be removed (Dany can get her ships from anyone), Dorne is far more essential to the political drama of KL and as an ally for her. Afterall the arcs need to be tightened, we cannot have the 15 arcs that are in AFC/DWD, spread over a 10 episode season. Some have to be removed and others combined. I don’t want to see Dany, Jon, Tyrion, Cersei, Jaime, Arya once every 3 episodes or just 3-4 minutes per episode.

  • JamesL,

Jaqen has already changed his face though. Yes, they could use the new actor from the last episode but that would basically be just the same as introducing another character. I would understan replacing the Kindly man with Jaqen if the orginal actor remained in the role but i think it would be better introducing the Kindly Man (and a new actor) instead of having someone try to play Jaqen again when so many people loved Tom Wlaschiha in the role.

  • Ser Osis of Liver,

And why should I trust this source? Has he/she been known to be correct with info before? I don’t doubt that they’d do it this early just for a damned cliffhanger, but it would be rushing the reveal and will lessen the impact of the RW, which will fucking suck. I sincerely hope this source is wrong.

  • For those who seem to have forgotten, in Feast and Dances, we have……

    Sam’s arc
    Jon’s arc
    Arya’s arc
    Dany’s
    Tyrion’s
    Sansa’s
    Cercei’s
    Brienne’s
    Jamie’s
    Lady….
    Arianne’s
    Victarion’s
    Theon’s
    Quentyn’s
    Asha’s
    LF
    Margery’s (become major player)
    Aegon/Connington
    Doran

I know I am forgetting a couple or three.

Of course some will start off together then separate before midpt. others will combine before the end, some will have scenes together (LF/San)(Cer/Marg) and then with others. The point being this is way, way to many arcs, and characters to follow separately. I won’t want to wait every third episode or every other, just for my favorite to appear in a 3-4 minute scene. The show will lose viewers if they stay verbatim, now if the series were 20-24 episodes a year, yes.

So, which arcs are essential for the main ASoIaF story, and which are not.

If Quentyn appears, I can see him appearing in 2 scenes, when he meets Dany and then when you know what happens, but this would be a waste of money and screen time and not push the story forward. Therefore just tear his scenes out, no big loss in the greater scope of thing. This removes 2-3 characters and 4-5 scenes.

Victarion is cool, Euron is cool, but in the end all they do is reeve along the coast and travel by sea to Mereen, yes more than likely Dany uses Ironborn ships, but she can acquire them anywhere. Sea battles and ship journey scenes are expensive. The important Greyjoy’s are Asha and Theon, period, therefore save money and screen time.
Of course the Kingsmoot is cool, but again it is not essential in the main scope of GoT.

  • tysnow,

According to accounts of the TWOW chapters read by GRRM at a convention recently, Victarion sails into Slavers Bay to defeat the armies besieging Meereen.. Isn’t that pretty significant?

  • tysnow,

Also, for all we know GRRM might have Victarion abduct a dragon or even Dany herself, which again, could prove significant in the overall storyline.

  • tysnow,

Wow, can someone spoiler tag this? Way to let non-readers know of 14 characters that make it out of seasons three and four alive, which also reveals who doesn’t.

  • Why is it that every discussion of late has been about season 5 and beyond? The next 2 seasons are what we have been waiting for. Lets enjoy them and not worry about what they will cut down the line(which I don’t believe will be as much as some are speculating).

  • Tyrion Pimpslap:
    Ser Osis of Liver,

And why should I trust this source? Has he/she been known to be correct with info before? I don’t doubt that they’d do it this early just for a damned cliffhanger, but it would be rushing the reveal and will lessen the impact of the RW, which will fucking suck. I sincerely hope this source is wrong.

I honestly don’t know if this is true or not, which is why I posted the qualifiers that I did. If it’s true it will be a very significant reveal. If not, oh well…and it will fit in nicely when it ultimately is introduced. I personally think it’s too soon, but with the theme and title of the episode, it sounds plausible. And does it honestly matter when L.S. is brought in? She exists for one reason so far…to execute Freys. No time like the present, sez I. Plus, it avoids the spoiler-shock of seeing Michelle’s name in the credits in S4.

  • Ser Osis of Liver,

It does matter when she appears. She dies at the end of episode 9. But is somehow brought back the very next episode? This makes little sense, especially if it is the same as the books, where they hang a Frey after he goes to ransom his cousin. Which is the perfect way to handle the reveal, but in season 4, not season 3. As far as the title of the episode goes, it is referring to one thing, Dany freeing the slaves. IMO.

  • JamesL,

The issue is it just wouldn’t work that well. She’s thrown into the river in episode 10 (not on screen maybe, but still around then). Her getting kissed to life by Beric, capturing a Frey, sending a message for a ransom, waiting till the other Frey arives and then hanging him all in the period of 1 episode? The reveal will work far better in s4.

  • JamesL:
    Tyrion Pimpslap,

They always end the season with a big cliffhanger and this seems like the logical one for this season, I don’t see what the issue is.

Agree 100%. There’s simply nothing else they can use as a good cliffhanger IMO.
I disagree with all the classic counter-arguments for this, like : “it will lessen the impact of the RW” (How ? I don’t get it. There’s going to be a whole week between Ep9 and Ep10. Viewers will have time to mourn her, and they will definitely freak out when they see her back as a freaking zombie), or “she should be introduced at the end of S4, because when we read ASOS we had no idea she was there until the epilogue” (don’t think chapter orders from the book, think timeline. Cat is resurrected 3 days after the RW if I’m correct).

The last shot of S3 will be UnCat opening her eyes, and it will be amazing, period.
    I’m calling it now.

  • Tyrion Pimpslap,

You know what’ll suck? Them NOT doing this. As others have said since before the season began, it makes absolutely perfect sense chronologically and makes for a fantastic end to the season. Even knowing what we know of the upcoming episodes tells us chapters are wildly out of order. Who cares? Why wait for season 4 for something that’ll make the best season ender this show will have ever have by putting it in season 3?

  • For reasons I cannot quite define or describe, this episode has me far more excited than Episode 01. Bring it!

  • Tyrion Pimpslap,

Agreed. But I really don’t expect it to happe.

Season will end on Dany. It’ll give viewers that sense of things being right in the world that will help to ease some of the rest of what happens.

There are aspects of the adaptation plan of which I’m uncertain. I don’t feel uncertain about this.

  • 2nd episode is about finishing the first act of the season. The storylines of Dany and Stannis are already where they need to be, the board is set up. Now we need the same for the 4 plots we haven’t heard of…
    – Bran
    – Theon
    – Arya
    – Jaime
    …the 3 we’ve only seen glimpses…
    – Sam
    – Jon
    – Robb
…and of course the “plots and schemes are the same” central station that is
    – King’s Landing

    Should be good.

  • Jeff,

UnCat opening her eyes ruins the reveal of seeing her pull her hood down and seeing the Frey about to be hanged freaking out. It is perfect in the books. Seeing Beric kiss her and fall dead to the ground as she opens her eyes would not be shocking, as the audience will see Thoros resurrecting Beric earlier in the season. Beric giving the kiss of life should happen off screen.

  • Tyrion Pimpslap,

I think the reference to a “friendship” is slightly misleading. I don’t expect the book relationship to be altered so that the tension and awkwardness in their interactions is somehow replaced by this understanding and respect. I think it’ll be like the books, where Tyrion is trying to help her but she totally shuts him down because of his name. Sigh. Frustrating Sansa.

  • Well, it could be misleading. But she talks about Tyrion teaching her (which never happened, really) and then she calls it a “lovely” relationship. That last part really sounds like a departure from the books, were the relationship was akward, but not at all “lovely”. I’m not saying it couldn’t work, but it makes me a bit nervous. If she’s so happy with him why would she leave him? She needs to be miserable, so she has a reason to escape! Of course, they could always change something. I guess I’ll need to think about this one for a while…

  • I do think that interview can be a little misleading.

Perhaps their pre-marriage relationship could be the good relationship, then it all goes to hell (all seven of them) when they’re forced to marry?

Actually I don’t think that would work either.

  • Ignacia:

I can see it being quite different, due to Tyrion being the perfect gentleman with Peter’s demeanor behind it. Not wishing to force the issue if she didn’t wish to. Show!Tyrion is far more attached to Show!Shae than their book counterparts so I see it being played out quite differently.

  • You guys pay way to much attention to these interviews. I think its pretty clear that the actors have been told when asked the “tell us your relationship with ‘ X question” to just say the opposite.

You know who else said there relationship with a character was great and that the two characters really get along

Iwan Rheon talking about Ramsey and Theon. Seems pretty clear to me that cast members are deliberately being misleading whether its Talisa, Sansa, Ramsey, or anyone else

  • House Snow:
You know who else said there relationship with a character was great and that the two characters really get along

That…kind of made me want to cry and laugh at the same time…
    You might be right.

Sophie has been repeating that Sansa will be happy in s3 in a lot of interviews, though. So maybe this is what she was referring to. Or maybe she’s just a very good and very constant lier. She’s an actress after all, isn’t she?

Anyway, it’s late here so I’m going to sleep now. Bye!

  • King DBC,

    Whoa, calm down there buddy.

It isn’t unprofessional at all, when a writer has created such a huge world with hundreds of characters-It’s perfectly acceptable for him to take his time.

Also the “when its done, its done” comment is because he predicted that dance would come out a year after feast…it didn’t, so he no longer “predicts” when his books will come out.

    Just relax, winter is coming.

  • Yago,

Again a lot of you confuse the books with the show. That’s the way the reveal happens in the books doesn’t mean it will happen like that in the show.

  • Alyansa:
Shouldn’t the title of the post read Episode 32 instead of 22?

No, Season 3, Ep 2 is the 22nd episode they have made of Game of Thrones, hence “22”.

  • I just saw a new critics’ TV spot after HBO’s new show ‘Vice’. It had a handful of new shots in it. Including:

    – The wildlings running around South of the Wall, with the Wall in the background.
    – Sam and Gilly running through the woods with a huge murder of crows/ravens flying around behind them.
    – A shot of Jon climbing the Wall.
    – A new look at the camps outside the Twins being burned and a shot of a bloody Stark banner
    – A clip of Catelyn slapping some guy(Edmure? One of the Freys?)

  • WheelofIceandFire:
    JamesL,

Jaqen has already changed his face though. Yes, they could use the new actor from the last episode but that would basically be just the same as introducing another character. I would understan replacing the Kindly man with Jaqen if the orginal actor remained in the role but i think it would be better introducing the Kindly Man (and a new actor) instead of having someone try to play Jaqen again when so many people loved Tom Wlaschiha in the role.

I know he changed his face, but why not just have him change his face again, back to the original actor? In fact, this could happen after Arya says “Valar Morghulis.” A man appears, perhaps the 2nd actor, and he turns, and there he is, Jaqen.

  • Kind of unrelated but here is my prediction for Yara/Asha – Since she is in Deepwood Motte I get the feeling she will be involved in the Theon story. Perhaps she investigates Winterfell which would be a good way to show the presumably grisly fate of Theon’s men. Perhaps there is a confrontation with Bolton men or some sort of botched rescue attempt which would be a good way to show her combat prowess. At least I hope something like this is planned for her.

  • Regarding the discussion about UnCat…

I am hoping that she appears at the end of the current season and not in S4. I would like to see it happen much like it happened in the book. We see a Frey (or Freys) riding in the woods. He is captured by the BWB and prepared for hanging. She appears and provides her approval. Beric’s kiss would happen off-screen. Perhaps no need for the ransom note.

It does not lessen the impact of the RW for me. Instead, it sets up an interesting story arc going forward: the vigilante brotherhood seeking revenge. Waiting a week for her to appear may seem too soon for some but the alternative – waiting a year – seems too long to me.

There are so many other game-changers at the end of ASOS that I believe that this arc could be moved forward without issue.

There will be disagreement, I know.

  • Can someone fix my post that directly preceeds this one? I am on my iPad and obviously messed up the spoiler tagging of the middle paragraph. The edit feature did not let me go back and edit. Very sorry.

  • Darquemode,

    Thanks!

    Looks great..

I guess the crows belong to Coldhands?
Tyrion might be talking about the RW when he says that “The Northerners will never forget”.
And it looks like we’ll get another Littlefinger/Varys dialogue in the Throne Room.. nice!

  • zod,

Could it be at the end ofthe season wth crows flyng off from the Twins or maybe from Castle Black? Hmm… It cetainly seems to be in the North. The crows coming from Coldhands makes most sense.

Tyron could also be talking about Sansa’s being married to him. The North would consider it an insult to have their Northern lady wolf mrried off to the twisted Imp I would think. Either works.

Still no sure who Catelyn is slapping….Edmure makes the most sense I guess. Maybe Littlefinger was in his TARDIS again and paid her a visit? XD

  • Darquemode,

It seems that Gilly and Sam are running in front of them.. That’s why I thought it could have been his crows. ;)

Maybe Catelyn’s slapping one of the Frey at the RW? She slaps one of them in the books when she realises what’s going to happen.

Look at this old promo video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8stbv3Dm5YI . At 1:41, there’s a glimpse of the RW and the background and Cat’s hair and clothes are the same as those we see when Cat’s slapping that guy in the new promo clip.

  • zod,

Yep, it’s definitely Cat slapping the Frey guy when she realises he’s wearing armor. Just like in ASOS, at the exact moment when shit hits the fan.
Also, Tyrion saying “The northeners will never forget” gave me chills. The North Remembers. Can’t wait.

  • With regards to the new trailer Darquemode shared, if they’re gonna keep the part where Cat realises that one of the Freys is wearing armour and that something is wrong and let it play out like it did in the books, then I am definately gonna cry because that whole scene with her realising what is happening was literature at its best… D&D will have done the Red Wedding justice…

  • I still dont get how people moan and whinge about ‘LF’s tardis’ in season 2… seeing as theres no clear acknowledgement of time between episodes. Just because hes in one place on episode and one the very next doesnt mean he fricking teleported.. get a grip

  • MyBFFTheHound: “I got really nervous about that, but the attempted rape was fine!”

    Sophie… -.-’

She’s kinda weird in a cool way. In one video, some of the cast was asked who the best looking male character was, and she said the White Walkers.

  • Catching up with Bran isn’t the only thing I am looking forward to. I watched the promo video after I left my office at DISH and looking at all of those new faces has me really excited to see “Dark Wings Dark Words.” I would normally wait until I got back from my cabin to check it out, but I don’t have to now that I can watch live TV on my Smartphone. I just use the DISH Anywhere app wherever I am, so I have not missed a show in weeks.

  • JamesL,

Here, here! People don’t understand that things in the show can not happen the same way like in the books… I mean, I believe we all read the RW and the epilogue in the same day, so of course it was a shock, cuz it was soon! I can’t imagine waiting a year for UnCat. So of course they will show her at the end of this season, because it is only a week’s distance! It also ends Beric’s part in the story, by showing his demise! They can’t let him just.. dissappear, and then to say “yeah.. he died”!

    Ser Osis of Liver,
My belief is that Michelle Fairley will be downgraded to special guest star, and her name will be shown at the end of the episode, season 3 being the last where her name is shown in the intro… :( Plus the fact that, if you noticed, in S1 she was the second in the intro, in S2 she was third or 4th, and now in S3 she is like the 6th in the intro… she is slipping away from the show…
