MILWAUKIE, OR, JUNE 6-Following its “sneak” debut to the industry at this year’s Toy Fair International, Game of Thrones fans have been clamoring for an official release date, and images of HBO® and Dark Horse’s White Walker statue.

Arriving at finer comic shops, bookstores, and specialty retailers on December 18, 2013, the White Walker is a hand-painted, numbered limited edition collectible. Each bust is packaged in full-color collector box, will include a numbered certificate of authenticity. Retail price is $124.99.

White Walkers, or the Others, are a fierce mythological race who are seldom seen as they lurk and prey in their land in the frozen north of Westeros. The Wall was constructed ages ago to keep them isolated.  This evil creature speaks in cracked tones and brandishes a deadly icy weapon, as immortalized in this beautiful collectible piece.

“The first appearance of the White Walker was the climax of the show’s second season,” Dark Horse’s David Scroggy recalled. “We thought that would be a perfect image to seize. We used exotic resins to simulate his ice spear, and will also re-create the striking blue luminosity of his piercing eyes. Game of Thrones is one of the best television sagas ever, and we owe it to the audience to capture every detail. Hopefully, we’ve succeeded.”

  • While we are the topic of merch I’d like to give a shout out to dark sword miniatures.

They have a HUGE range of a song of ice and fire minatures, they are awesome!

    Check them out!!

  • The White Walker would be a sweet Christmas gift!

So, there are more products to come? I’m excited to see what else they’ve got.

  • So … only people going to ComicCon can get these items. Gee thanks, Dark Horse – are you paying for my trip out there?

No, read the post. It says the White Walker will be available at comic stores and specialty retailers in December.

  • Great the one I want is not only cheaper but only sold at comic con and in limited quantity. What a crap out.

  • Heck with the busts, I want 12″ fully articulated detailed action figures similar to what WETA Sideshow sales. The kind with authentic clothing and armor and sell for $40-$100.
HBO and Dark Horse need to look at WETA’s line of products and sell stuff akin to them, sure they sell busts and statues, but the figures are the big sellers. I mean imagine all the characters, beasts in 12″ scale, it will be a gold mine for both. I been to Forbidden Planet in London and they have tons of mugs, stickers and other minor stuff and the staff told me people ask for action figures and the like, not the other products. Therefore HBO needs to make DH make the figures or give a license to Sideshow to produce them. Furthermore I want a GoT Risk and Chess set(s) with interchangeable houses, imagine Tywin and Cersei as K/Q and Tyrion as a bishop and Jaime a knight. I cannot believe they haven’t made one yet with GoT’s popularity. Then every year come out with a new House and their respective pieces and a really cool, carved and detailed Westeros board like that fancy one Noble House sells for LOTR which I own btw.

  • Sorry, the ehite walker made his debut five minutes into series premiere, not season two finale, might want to get facts right if you r going to promote your merchandise

  • I don’t understand busts – the White Walker is nice but looks like a half-finished job to me.

And without any legs, the name White Walker seems somewhat a misnomer…

  • Ross: And without any legs, the name White Walker seems somewhat a misnomer…

Lol, indeed, but somehow “White-Growing-out-of-Rocks” is slightly less catchy… White Crawler perhaps?

Anyway, it’s gonna be a difficult wait again now that we’re back to news about beer and other (to me utterly uninteresting) merchandize… Let’s hope HBO is a bit more forthcoming this time around with new signings to keep us mildly happy! (I’m not asking for Casting Clues anymore – GRRM has books to finish)

  • My two cents: they should have designed the WW mounted on a horse they way we saw him at the end of S2. That would be a rocking miniature without a rock. There :P

  • Any news on the comic con panel ?

I hope they get Rob McElhenney to host it as he did a great job with the Emmy discussion.

  • Action figures plz! Seriously.. how have they NOT been made? It’s pretty much a license to print money.

  • Well, I want the shield but can’t go to San Diego. That blows. And it’s not like someone going to ComicCon can purchase them for people who can’t go because there will be limited quantity. Maybe I’ll make my own darn merchandise. So thppppttttt
