Dany has been burnt on several occasions in the books. Her resisting fire in the pyre was a one-off event. Just saying… Great episode again though!

My own here goes to Ned Stark for constantly influencing Jon’s decisions from beyond the grave.

    FNF,

That one is completely the show’s fault. They really shouldn’t have made her keep her hair. The fact that her hair was gone after Drogo’s funeral pyre shows that she wasn’t invincible. By keeping it, they messed up a lot of people’s perception of that event. GRRM has said so.

Totally agree about the hair. I was hoping they would present a bald and eyebrow-less Dany after the Drogo pyre, but that’s just a minor detail. In truth though, there are different heat levels of fire (and magic levels of the moment) that are in play as well. I don’t think the Targaryens do well at all when subject to “friendly” dragon fire (Dany was very worried about this in Daznak’s Pit), or even wildfire. Besides hair loss, they can survive “normal” fire but there might be a bit of sorcery helping them as well.

The own goes to Bael the Bard for outwitting the Starks! Gee, that must have been difficult!

The own should go for Jon’s libido totally ruining his capacity to reason.
    Great show BTW.

The way the show portrayed the dragon eggs hatching has definitely made it a bugger deal, but even before HBO put it on screen, many fans overestimated Dany’s fire-resistant abilities.

In GRRM’s own words, “Lastly, some fans are reading too much into the scene in GAME OF THRONES where the dragons are born — which is to say, it was NEVER the case that all Targaryens are immune to all fire at all times.”

Elsewhere, he’s stated that it was Mirri Maz Duur’s blood magic that saved Dany in Drogo’s funeral pyre and hatched the eggs, NOT any supposed fireproofing powers Dany may have.

    So…

(GRRM wrote the above quote back in 1998…! So it’s not just the show giving that impression).

Yes. Get Emilia Clarke bald and eyebrowless. Oh, and by the way, make her wear tacky purple contact lenses. You will get a freak, but hey, at least you will stay entirely faithful to the books, so the small amount of book readers ala you would not complain.

Seriously. They’ve messed up people’s perception on the event and they’ve ruined the scene. In fact, they’ve ruined everything.
