Peter Dinklage lends his voice to the Sochi Opening Ceremony
By Lightbringer on in News.

Just below 32 million people tuned into NBC to watch the 2014 Sochi Opening Ceremony last night, ushered in with the sound of Peter Dinklage’s voice. The ceremony opened with a nearly 7 minute long video montage narrated by Dinklage highlighting Russia as the host country and the athletes who will gather there. So if you’re having some Tyrion withdrawal in the off-season, click on the screen capture below and pretend he’s giving you an epic history lesson:

UPDATE: It seems Lannisters and the Olympics go together well. Here is Charles Dance aka Tywin Lannister narrating the BBC’s epic Olympics preview.

Would have been better narrated as Drunk Tyrion.

I’m sure drunk Tyrion would have had a few words to say about Roose-er I mean Vladimir Putin.

He did a nice job with what they gave him, but I thought the script itself was pretty blah. I zoned out at the halfway mark.

You need to use a VPN tool like Hola Unblocker, that creates a VPN tunnel to an US server. – Or just wait until it gets uploaded to youtube.

All the GoT actors have such beautiful, distinctive voices. Perfect for voiceovers. I hope other cast members will get opportunities for high-profile work like this too.

What I was thinking all along.
This whole Winter Olympics in Sochi is a disaster.
And then I thought: A) This has nothing to do with this website and B) Most Olympics were a disaster as far as the consequences for villagers, animals, the environment and politics (Putin’s gay/lesbian rantings for instance). China, Brazil… no better than Sochi, and there are many other examples. Sad indeed. The world we live in has cruelty surpassing that of Westeros, no contest there.

My first thought…why is Tyrion at the Olympics? Then I had to remember oh well that is Peter Dinklage and he can do whatever he wants… But you’d think he’d be tired of being in and around winter, snow, ice and that sort of thing! I almost waited for him to start yelling “Winter Is Coming”! That would be appropriate for the Winter Olympics wouldn’t it?

    House Mormont,

I really enjoyed that link. Thx.

Dany’s fiscal calculations are funny given that she obtained most of her assets through the generous offerings of others or assumed them via coup d’etat. She has nothing to really offer her followers in terms of financial security, unless Hizdahr’s value via marriage is also considered.

A dragon’s monetary value? That would highly depend on the ability of the dragon to “encourage” businessmen to do business with her, and not because of their destructive capability and tendency to cause chaos. Dany may need to consider purchasing dragon insurance with the Iron Bank of Braavos. Also, her Unsullied army’s compliance with her mission is truly remarkable because they must be self-sufficient and can’t be provided for in any way.

I assume this data is extracted/surmised for each character as of the end of GoT S3. Or is it as of the end of ADwD? It seems to me that would make a major difference. ;)

I can only imagine what the Iron Bank of Braavos is worth. I would say in the hundreds of billions (in pounds sterling), much of which is probably debt owed to them by others around globe. Hooray for intangible interest! How many gold dragons does your house owe the IBoB?
