Maisie Williams and a Red Wedding cake attend Game of Thrones Season 3 DVD Launch Party
By Lightbringer on in Events.

WiCnet reader JacMac has already given us her account of the Game of Thrones Season 3 DVD Launch, and now we have a bit more information about the very special Red Wedding cake that was commissioned by HBO, as well as some tidbits from Maisie Williams.

Created by a team of four at Choccywoccydoodah, the cake took over 20 hours to make. Every chocolate sword, dagger, arrow, and delicious blood spatter is masterfully hand-crafted and completely edible. Oh, and there’s also a wedding cake under there somewhere.

“Most of Choccywoccydoodah are avid fans of the series and the idea of creating a cake for this most powerful of all episodes blew us away. We decided to create a slaughtered cake, rather than a red cake, giving us the opportunity to try new techniques, new sculpting methods and new finishes.”

“We also included a cracked shield of the two families in the episode; House of Stark and House of Frey, to symbolise the fact they are now at war.”

Not only were the guests treated to cake, a real life Stark, Maisie Williams, was present to assist in the cutting. The guests were given a sneak preview of the bonus content from the Season 3 Blu-Ray/DVDs, and a preview of Season 4 from Maisie herself. Of her character Arya’s storyline in the upcoming season she revealed: “She means business, her whole family have been ruthlessly taken away from her.” And we can expect some more humor from Arya and the Hound: “Arya and the Hound’s relationship is changing as they start to embrace this love hate relationship, it’s great fun.”

That is officially the last cake ever. All the bakers in the world have just retired in recognition of its awesomeness.

    Jon Blackfyre,

Because it’s the counter from last year. That should be changed of cause.

Edit: Oh, it already was changed. Thanks ebevan91. ;-)

    That cake is simply awesome.

By the way, does anyone know why the limited version of the season 3 blu-ray on amazon (the one with the “dragon statue”) has a run-time of 530 minutes but in other places (like amazon.fr) the blu-ray has a run-time of 560 minutes? What are those extra 30 minutes? I don’t know if it is a mistake, because I can’t find the official run-time of the blu-ray (it is not in the hbo site, at least I can’t find it)…

Perhaps, you can be helped by this post:

    Winter Is Coming:
ebevan91, hold down shift and press refresh (F5 on a PC, Command+R on a Mac) and you should see the updated clock.

Casting Mads Mikkelsen as Euron is never a straight line. It’s a forest, And like a forest it’s easy to lose your way… To get lost… To forget where you came in.

Ouch white chocolate is not real chocolate! It’s a travestite and/or one of the most awesome marketing tricks in the history of food :S

Whereas 70-90% pure dark chocolate is not only good but healthy for us, white chocolate is one of the un-healthier foods out there, all fat and sugar…o well

Does anyone else think Maisie looks like a tiny Rachel Weisz? I think about that every time I see her dressed up/not in costume.
