Game of Thrones Season 4, Episode 6 Preview – “The Laws of Gods and Men”
By Ours is the Fury on in Previews.

“This isn’t a trial, it’s a farce.”

From the official HBO synopsis: “Stannis and Davos set sail with a new strategy. Dany meets with supplicants. Tyrion faces down his father in the Throne Room.”

“The Laws of Gods and Men” is written by Bryan Cogman and directed by Alik Sakharov. This is Sakharov’s first episode this season, having directed “The Climb” in season 3 and “What is Dead May Never Die” for season 2. The episode marks the debut of Mark Gatiss as Tycho Nestoris, and the return of Gemma Whelan as Yara Greyjoy.

Ours is the Fury: This episode should provide some huge moments for Peter Dinklage to really sink his teeth into. It will be interesting to see how the Dreadfort storyline, with its divergence from the books, pans out. The last Cogman episode was a total mindblower for book-readers. Will this be one too?

I just want to know what the heck is gonna happen with Yara. Will she be killed? Will she somehow fill the role of Jeyne Pool? Will she free Theon? I have no idea how they’re gonna make this work but I’m so ready already lol

I read a great theory over a subreddit about Asha (Yara) and her storyline during this season.

Basically, she’ll be captured by Ramsay and then, she’ll become a prey of a sadistic hunt, like the first time we saw Ramsay in this season. With this, Asha will have a chance to prove how tough she is, by killing Myranda and finally escaping. The Greyjoys are showing in a more sympathetic light and Asha has a chance to shine.

I hope it goes this way, it’s very cool.

No Arya and Hound again? :(

There fight with knights of the vale was directed by Alex Graves in Iceland which means it will be either episode 8 or 10 (it should be 8 as i cant see them having the fight and then Arya leaving the Hound and boarding the ship in the space of one episode). They still need the gift of mercy scene and Rory McCann has mentioned that the Hound ‘tells his story’ this season so it looks like that will all happen in episode 7 before they reach the vale in episode 8?

Into the episode. This is the one I’ve been waiting for all season. Yara vs the Boltons- the greatest mystery. I figure by the end of the episode we should have a better guess at whether the Iron Islands are cut from season 5 or not. Then there’s Stannis and our first look at Braavos: two very interesting changes! Much better than Craster’s Keep IMO (as long as Yara doesn’t die!). And we get dragons again- we’ll finally see what they’ve been up to. And of course Dany in Meereen in general should be interesting (dat set).

And the best thing about this episode is Tyrion’s trial! Yay

I think we are being trolled by D&D. I think Yara is at the dreadfort, but that Ramsey is at Moat Cailin. But the hunt you describe would be interesting too. I’d bet on Yara over Myranda ANY day. No way would Yara be f-Arya

Now I think about it that would be perfect, bringing the season kinda sorta full circle if that’s the Bolton/greyjoy s4 arc’s final scene. maybe Ramsay could tell Reek that Yara/Asha is dead to really get him sad

Have the synopsis/summaries been revealed for episode 8, 9 and 10 yet? I was just wondering how many episode Arya is going to be in between now and the end of the season? She has only been in 3 episodes and i cant see them having her miss too many more episodes (I know she isnt mentioned in the synopsis for episode 6 or 7 but im still hoping she appears in one)

And does anyone know if Dany is going to be in episode 8? She is going to be in episode 6 and 7 and hasnt missed one since the second ep, but i honestly dont see what they will have her do if she is in episode 8 as well

Yeah, Yara as fake Arya is one of the worst ideas in the history of this fandom. I know that the show has been known to mess up the story, but to this extent, sheesh, I don’t think they’ll do that. Theon is Weiss’ favorite character, I’m hoping that they’ll do his story right.

I see it definitely happening in episode 8, the same one with the Mountain vs Viper fight; that way both Clegane brothers get to be wounded/start “dying” (well, in Gregor’s case, actually dying, but as we know…) in the same episode.
D&D said that the last three episodes are full of big shocking moments, these two should do it for episode 8.
In episode 10 we’ll probably see Arya going to Braavos.

The absolute worst. It makes no sense. Like, imagine if you’re D&D and you come up with that crap. It’s so stupid it hurts. I don’t see why so many people don’t think it’s possible to just cast a new character that actually fits the role.

Hoyti Von Totiy: Possible new filming locations for Season 5.

If these are more than rumours, we are in for some pretty new locales next season (Google-Imaging the names brought up great results). It makes sense that someone would notice location scouters doing their job a few months in advance of filming, (the season 5 commission being only a formality and all.) The sheer number of new locations to come will make production speculations very interesting once season 4’s over.

I just hope they do Dorne justice, as King’s Landing in the show is more like the Sunspear of the books in terms of climate and architecture, largely because they wanted it to look a world away from Winterfell. (Book King’s Landing is meant to be like medieval Paris or London.) Fingers crossed they also return to Iceland in the summer for any reason at all.

-rivers and rivers and more rivers for one particular storyline
    -deserts and dunes for Dorne
-that lake might be our location for Kingsmoot, perhaps? we don’t even know of that’s in
-cities: two port cities filled with water and canals Volantis and Braavos, another that looks different from everything else in the show (maybe like a Sultan’s palace) Subspear combined with the Water Gardens
    -green lands for the Riverlands
-snow for beyond the Wall and the scenes outside Winterfell, since Winter IS coming in season 5
-a small town with wooden walls and a wooden keep, Deepwood Motte

    jentario,

I have a feeling Deepwood Motte will be getting the axe (and being a wooden castle, that should be pretty devastating ;), but we will need more scenes maybe in Iceland just as snow is beginning to fall for Stannis’ march to Winterfell to have any real peril. There’s only so many times you can re-use the same fake-snow forest.

Croatia should stand in pretty well for the road to the Rhoyne (not that we want to be stuck on it for too long). Essos is only really arid around the Red Waste and part of Slaver’s Bay; the rest is certainly fertile enough for forests to grow.

I want to be excited for the Yara vs Boltons stuff but then I remember how much I hate the Yara casting. It’s a casting that I don’t think I will ever grow to like. I don’t think she will ever be able to carry a storyline by herself and that’s going to be an issue when she becomes important in season 5.

For the past week I’ve just been having this terrible sneaking suspicion that Yara will be killed, but I really hope I’m wrong. I love the above idea about escaping Ramsay’s hunt, and I agree that the Arya/Yara substitution wouldn’t quite work. There just doesn’t seem to be any indication that Gemma Whelan has filmed much beyond the Dreadfort assault.

I would prefer her to look more feminine like book Asha and more charismatic. I find the character and performance of “Yara” on the show extremely dull and the Greyjoys are already really dull so it would have been better to cast an actress with more of a presence to help carry the Greyjoy stuff next season so it won’t put people to sleep.

I haven’t read the source novel but have heard it’s well-written though the author is not above bending the historical facts.

Going back to GoT I don’t understand the Gemma Whelan hate and I never got the impression book Asha was beautiful beyond compare though she definitely wasn’t ugly. I’ve seen some interview videos where Gemma as Gemma looks attractive though they do rough her up for the show. But some folk go on like she resembles one of Dracula’s victims after Dracula’s done with said victim.

7: that scene about nothing and a big fight scene
8: The Hounds goodbye scenes, telling a story, the gift of mercy (Arya leaves him to die and walks away). THIS means that the Clegane brothers die side by side, not both fight scenes
10: Arya alone arrives at that town and finds a ship, “Valar Morghulis”

Oh you ARE good at crackpots, are you not?! Mel and her leeches- that made me chuckle. Actually that is his best asset so far! HAHA.

I doubt there will be talk of the Golden Company, but who knows. Why do I doubt it? Because we already know that them bastards are on FAegon’s side after breaking the treaty with Myr and trying to get on Dany’s side but getting tired of waiting for her.

Stannis getting a brokered deal through the IBB, would have seen Harry Strickland and his 10,000 probably on his newly minted ships courtesy of IBB. IBB has more financial weight then Illyrio Mopatis, I should think! If IBB wanted the GC for Stannis… then Stannis probably would have gotten them in the books too. As it is, Illyrio apparently convinced them to switch for the Targs instead of fighting Lys and Tyrosh. Oh, I should definitely stop HB, or I’ll never get things done!
