Game of Thrones gets the Super Mario World and Hearthstone treatment
By Lightbringer on in General, Humor.

In the category of very cool things inspired by Game of Thrones, these two things fit the bill.

NicksplosionFX has re-created the opening credits sequence of Game of Thrones, except it’s set in Super Mario World. An epic pixelated journey from Yoshi’s Island to the Valley of Bowser and everything in between, complete with appropriate 8-bit theme music, this is well worth the watch.

If you’re a fan of Blizzard’s latest offering, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, a digital collectable card game, you’ll probably enjoy these as much as I did.

Reddit user randomnate combined two of his favorite things to create a complete Game of Thrones Hearthstone deck. With 31 cards representing the Thrones characters’ cost, health, attack power, and very appropriate abilities, this deck is a winner. Browse the full album of cards below:

Meh. This Hearthstone Game of Thrones version pales in comparison with the real A Game of Thrones Limited Card Game (previously Collectible Card Game) from fantasy flight games. A really well designed game with lots of flavour from the books.

Hearthstone is supposed to be a very casual CCG that you can just log in and play for a bit (which doesn’t mean it can’t be complex either). FF’s card games are more complex, require more time to learn the basics and to truly grasp the game. So I guess this was a fair adaptation.

Disclaimer: I have played only about fifteen minutes of Hearthstone and zero of FF’s. None of my friends like this kind of stuff, so I have my cards only to look at the art on them :(

Anyone else sick of this 8-bit crap?

It’s everywhere, it was cute for about five minutes.

Not to mention whoever made the mario vid is profiteering from the works of super mario and game of thrones.

The cards are pretty well done with keeping close to the actual game cards.
