AxeyFabulous! “Mockingbird” reviewed
By Fire And Blood on in Humor, Recap, Reviews.

Yeah, the 2-week wait has us lagging too! But worry not – we’re here to remind you sorry sods of last week’s awesomeness, and get the juices flowing again.

So without further ado (or even further adieu), here’s some FaB-ulousness to tide the masses over until tomorrow’s episode:

(No, I didn’t use blood. It was a paper towel drenched in ketchup. And yes, it tasted horrible.)

Thx, FaB! They need to splice in your chewy & condimenty Biter footage into the actual Hound/Biter scene. Instead of ketchup, you should have used tabasco.

The “ghosts of Tyrion’s past, present & future” was classic!

Also, the paper towel drenched in ketchup looks pretty gross.

If you’re comparing book-Shae to Bronn, that might be a valid complaint. But I think Shae would get more hatred there because she never cared for Tyrion. She just sold him out for the cash and didn’t regret her actions for a moment. It’s not cos she’s a woman.

If you’re comparing TV-Shae to Bronn, it really isn’t a valid complaint. People forgive Bronn because he’s betraying Tyrion to stay alive. He’s doing it cos he can see the big picture. TV-Shae is simply being an idiot and betraying him(and Sansa) because of that woman-scorned crap. So, again, it’s not cos she’s a woman. Ofc, we don’t know TV-Shae’s actual motivations. If they turn out to line up more with Bronn’s and she was just trying to save her own life(and possibly Tyrion’s too), I think people might be more forgiving.

Another reason why they might hold Shae to a different standard is because she’s said on several occasions that she’s in love with him and here she is condemning him to the gallows. So the betrayal stings a lot more than Bronn’s, who doesn’t have as close a relationship with Tyrion.

Axey, good to see you back. I like the silliness. I’ve struggled to find humor in the recent episodes for my videos because everything is getting so gosh darn serious. Kudos to you for making me laugh out loud a few times.

In re: your comment regarding Emmy reels, I felt the same thing….the quiet scenes are often harder to do, IMHO. Either way, Dinklage will have plenty of great material to choose from!

In re: the dudebro controversy….I always liked Tyrion/Bronn better than I liked Tyrion/Shae (book or show, didn’t matter). Does that mean I’m a “dudebro”? I would think the lack of penis would disqualify me. But I also felt that it was weird he would forgive his Bro but not his Babe….the Bronnmance Rules of Friendship? So mixed feelings there.

Re: The Mountain…he may look younger than The Hound but he scares the ever lovin bejeebers out of me…I tried to find something funny in that sequence….so here’s how I envisioned The Mountain’s agenda for the day he arrived in King’s Landing:

    1. Arrive at King’s Landing
    2. Disembowel peasants & grunt hullo to Queen
    3. Beat random children on the way into town
    4. Stop by Sept, benchpress 4 silent sisters
    5. Tie them up after and torture them
    6. Take money from offertory baskets on the way out
    7. Check into Red Keep, make squire clean blood and guts off armor
    8. Bathe in the tears of orphan children
    9. Lunch with Queen

And that’s just in the morning!

Here’s my recap/review (revised from first posting)

FaB does an amazing job on this website. If you don’t like his videos don’t watch them. If you make comments how about some contstuctive criticism rather than just childish rants?! Jeez!

Heads up people! New Lannister info from TWOIAF has been released during a reading by George. We’re still waiting for the extended notes but these are the topics that will be included according to those that attended the con:

    1) What Tywin did to the Reyne’s and how the relationship between Tarbeck, Lannister and Reyne had gone haywire

    2) The Great Council that crowned Egg

    3) Another BF rebellion

    4) Dunk in battle

    5) More info on the Red Kraken

EDIT: oh, and FaB the hankerdchief thingy was gross! That being said there is potential there. Perhaps WiC.net should introduce a new weekly webseries that’s just about you eating nasty GoT related stuff :p I vote Singer’s stew for the first proper installment! And eventually a certain kind of pie :p

    Paige: Entrepreneur/stripper? Stripper/entrepreneur?
    Mike Martingano: Either one.
Paige: I was hoping this was all a joke.
Mike Martingano: Casting Mads Mikkelsen as Euron is never a joke.

No, actually the Fourth one ;-)

The second one we saw in The mystery knight And the poster said that it was about the fourth one, so there is that :)

And the Red Kraken is a character who we heard about in tPatQ Dalton Greyjoy who sided with the blacks and attacked the Westerlands

There was also a very interesting tidbit about Bloodraven. Apparently, he presided over the great council that elected Egg to become King

oh, and one about Dunk the Lunk He killed Daemon III Blackfyre during a BF Rebellion

Leonard Shelby: Memory can change the shape of a room; it can change the color of a car. And memories can be distorted. They’re just an interpretation, they’re not a record, and they’re irrelevant if you have the facts, namely that casting Mads Mikkelsen as Euron is the only way to go

We need more of everything. Luckily for us, some people who attended the con took seven pages of notes from the reading. They said they would put them all on Westeros.org (tuesday at the latest).

There is some other info others have released already in this thread (starting from page 15) http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/94838-concarolinas-may-30-june-1-2014-charlotte-nc-grrm-guest-of-honor/page-15

Roy: Hey, Rathbone! I was just thinking of a title for my new book. “Roy O’Bannon vs. Little Lord Sissy.” Or how about “Roy O’Bannon versus the Man who would be Queen?” or “Roy O’Bannon vs. the guy who didn’t want to cast Mads Mikkelsen as Euron”

    Veltigar,

The info about the resistance to Egg’s coronation and BR’s involvement is stunning. And a full tale of the Reyne massacre is coming! GRRM is such a tease. If he released a few paragraphs from an upcoming Sansa chapter or more info about the Knight of the Laughing Tree (before the show does), I may have a seizure.

Probably not going to happen ;) But GRRM’s comment about releasing Fire & Blood in a year or four five did sound rather promising for tWoW and aDoS :D

Miller: Vacate! I want off this ship!
Dr. Weir: You can’t leave. She won’t let you.
Miller: You just get your gear and get back on the Lewis and Clark, Doctor, or you’ll find yourself walkin’ home.

    Cool review as always.

But Bronns betrayal and Shaes just can’t be compared.

Shae actually actively tried to get Tyrion killed – by lying, no less.

Bronn just neglected to try and help him.

It used to be a great website. The reason I (and many others) checked it regularly, even more than once a day, was because it was informative. It always had the latest on the show, explained and narrated with professionalism. I remember when the pilot script leaked and Winter explained how he would talk about it, but would not report the full script, in respect of the show and the show producers. Then eventually the script started appearing everywhere on the web, and so Winter decided to publish it too. The way he handled that situation was real gentleman-like. What I find on the website these days are a bunch videos of fanboys who do not inform me nor amuse me.
Fabio, if I may, you were one of Winter’s first lieutenants. I enjoyed your articles and overall contribution to the site. But without Winter’s lead, you are just taking it too far. You are not funny any more. You may be referring to GOT, but you are actually using this site to promote yourself. And for how funny you may think you are, I come here to learn about the show, not to see how funny you can (or rather can’t) be.
I’m inclined to think that, yes, WInter may have had a new house and a new baby to take care of, but he probably did not like the way things were changing here and hence decided to leave. I’m afraid to say, I’ll leave too. Hail to Winter!

    Mattia,

Well, me being a pie-in-the-sky glass-half-full person, I’ll take you saying I was once funny as a positive sign that I can actually be funny, thereby leaving the possibility of me being funny once again! Some day!

    I strive for it!

P.S. If we’re being serious though… funny is in the eye of the behol– uh, the ear of the… the… behearer?

    Something.

Different people find different things funny. I find a lot of things funny that a lot of other people don’t. But the rule is, if even one person finds something funny, then… well… it’s funny. Technically. Because it’s funny to them.

It’s just not funny to you.

(There’s no accounting for taste. But I find my Twitter posts hi-lar-rious!)
