  • Karl:
Another facepalm video. Your life really so sad that you need the cry for attention?

I see where you’re coming from, but really, no need for that kind of tone.

  • So embarrassing… desperately unfunny yet I watch every week and cringe. The silver lining to the season ending is that Fire and Blood (I refuse to call you Fabio) will stop with these pathetically over-the-top recaps. He seems to be oddly vain… screwing up your face like that doesn’t make you look good, it makes you look like a tool.

  • ^^^^Wow, you guys are koonts. Thoughtful criticism is one thing, this is another.

I enjoy FaB’s quirky recaps. They make me laugh and mirror a lot of my own feelings about the episodes. Keep on keeping’ on, FaB.

  • Lyanna_Targaryen,

It’s actually like two guys who change their names but keep the same URL’s. (One went like… next door to his neighbor’s house to switch things up.)

But I enjoy it. Is that weird?

  • Ms. D. Ranged,

Thanks, man! I like yours too, rare though they are.

Also, doing these is my job (over at TVEquals / HappyCool). So my lovely critics can strafe me all they want. I’m laughing all the way to the bank.

  • Hey guys, I know that this is off-topic but has anyone noticed that GRRM mentioned in his blog that “The Children” will run for 116 minutes. That seems a bit long for a tv episode, but he disabled the comments for that particular post so there’s no way of asking if it was a mistake.

  • There’s nothing less heroic than being an a$$hole in the comments section of an entertainment website.

I also spotted that. He probably erred and meant to say 66 minutes. I mean, there’s no precedent for an almost two-hour episode…That would essentially be a feature film.

  • Fire And Blood,

I don’t particularly like the fact that people criticize your videos so bluntly FaB (even if it’s not very appealing to me either, but I can understand that some people find it funny), but your last comment about your bank is stupid, and of very bad taste.

Yes indeed a lot of people earn money for doing stupid and “easy” things, while others do real jobs which waste their health. The latter often earn almost nothing for it. So nothing to be proud of.

Nah. I am sure he meant it. When Martin sees something he likes, it must be true. He has also always been bad at math.

  • Ludo,

It’s cool, man. I don’t get offended when people criticize my videos (or even my Twitter posts, really). People have things they like and things they don’t like, and should feel free to speak their minds. Always!

And perhaps I worded it strangely, but what I was trying to get across was this: I get paid to be a television critic. It’s my job. This year, my bosses at TVEquals decided to go onto YouTube (“Happy Cool” is a subsidiary of TVEquals) to broaden their brand, so to speak, and start making review videos. I was tasked with doing the GoT stuff.

And because I am a writer for WiC (which we all do for free–WiC is a labor of love and NOT a job) it was suggested I affix my HappyCool videos here. When I start doing videos for other shows, obviously they will not be posted on Winter Is Coming. But so long as the content is GoT and we remain the leading GoT fan site in the free world, the content is appropriate.

Even if, in some peoples’ views, it sucks dank and dirty donkey dingleberries.

    Ludo,
Even if, in some peoples’ views, it sucks dank and dirty donkey dingleberries.

I don’t think people were saying it was that bad. Great green globs of greasy, grimy gopher guts, maybe. But not dank and dirty donkey dingleberries.

Me? I wouldn’t know. I always turn the volume off and drink you in with my eyes.

  • I would enjoy the hell out of it. You’re nobody until somebody berates you or your work in a comments section on the internet. I once wrote a sex column for my university for two semesters that was posted online. So, welcome to the big time! We’ve got jackets.

  • I really like these recaps most of the time. Very concise, very well-structured, and it usually brings a smile to my face.

    That is all.

  • I look forward to these weekly. Some much needed levity in a sea of hand wringing and nit picking :-) not that I don’t enjoy that too, it’s just a nice palate cleanser :)

  • I am so pro-death too. That’s going to be my new thing. Except for murder.

I also have stopped blaming D&D for bonus killing in my mind. I blame the all powerful budget. Every time I see an actor die, I pout, and then imagine the money that frees up for new characters next year….. yummy…

  • Fire And Blood,

I’m a bit concerned that your mother might be using the handle ‘Cumsprite’

Long may the quirkiness reign in these videos though. As Facebook would say, “I like that!”

  • Wow some people on this site can be really negative. If it’s not your sense of humor from the start then let it go and don’t watch. We all have our own personal favorite recap shows (I love Game Of Owns) but that does not mean I need to bash other recaps with their own style.

Dude, you’re funny. I am a Stannis fan so sometimes I watch with a blank WTF face but overall it’s entertaining. Keep doing you!

  • I thought it was great. You made a good case for Grenn’s death. I look forward to your recaps.

  • Imagine the shame this guy’s parents must feel. They probably don’t even leave their house anymore.

  • ok, the facebook thing got me. Got me good. I like your reviews and would love to see what you do moving forward.
