  • I am wondering WTF is up with Mel telling Selyse that Cutiepie was essential on their journey and would not be left behind. I don’t want her to be hurt, she is awesome!

  • I’m pumped for this episode. Have been for two weeks. As the hours between present and air dwindle, I can feel my specific expectations melt away leaving only sheer excitement. Is this what it means to be body ready?

  • If the episode is truly 116 minutes as grrm posted on his “not a blog” page on his website then we are getting Christmas in June. But 66 minutes as stated on this website seems more likely :/

  • militant marker,

Other web sites are posting the episode as being 1:16 minutes or 76 minutes, perhaps D&D are throwing in a curve ball and there is a 10 minute post credit scene, which would be wayyyy cool.

  • Maybe he means 1 hour 16 minutes. I would believe 76 minutes before I would believe 116 minutes

  • GRRM must have meant an hour and sixteen minutes because that’s how long my TV says it will be.

GRRM posted about the episode on his blog but he disabled comments on it because he says he doesn’t want to discuss the show on there. My theory is that he knows Lady Stoneheart is cut and doesn’t want to deal with all the fans ranting about it to him on his blog.

  • My main HBO channel listing has the episode running back-to-back airings for the first time this season. Oh how I wish they would be sneaky and it’s one long episode. I don’t have any real expectation of that though.

  • Predictions for tonight (avoiding the obvious things that I know from the books):

The Hound / Arya meet up on the Eastern Road with Brienne / Pod. Almost positive they meet, pretty sure they fight, with a hail mary theory about a brawl with the Hill Tribes. Brienne bites The Hound’s ear and he falls. Arya leaves him for dead and gets on a boat to Braavos.

Jon isn’t elected Lord Commander this season. If / when he is, Thorne throws his support behind Jon in order to prevent Janos Slynt from being elected. Otherwise, his story goes as expected. I don’t think we’ll see Val or Mance’s baby.

Dany’s season ends on a sad note, with the chaining of her dragons after Drogon’s actions.

At some point Melisandre will trick Selyse into trying to sacrifice Shireen, but I don’t think that happens this season.

No changes to Bran’s arrival except for the absence of Coldhands. There will probably be another vision and it might feature a check-in with the remaining Starks (Arya on the boat, Sansa in the Vale, Rickon with Osha, Lady Stoneheart hanging a Frey), but it might be too cheesy. lol

Lady Stoneheart is 50/50 for appearing this season. No chance she’ll meet up with Brienne (she’s in the Vale and Jaime has miles left to go in his storyline), but maybe she’ll make an appearance executing a Frey. My hail mary theory? The Frey ends up being Walder Frey. He’s the only Frey that the average viewers will recognize, but I can’t think of how the Brotherhood would get their hands on him.

I don’t think we’ll check in with Sansa or Theon again this season. It’s possible, but their Ep. 8 moments seem like season finale material.

Tyrion’s storyline won’t be changed at all. Tysha, Shae, “Wherever Whores Go” and they might even have Tyrion say the “Shit Gold” line out loud.

50/50 on whether Balon Greyjoy survives the season. He shouldn’t, imo, but I don’t know where the writers are going with the Ironborn storyline. I definitely think we’ll check in with Yara again tonight.

  • I just watched the interview with the actor playing Qyburn(did I spell it right?) who we only saw once this season fitting Jaimie’s golden hand. He said that he will be in tonight’s episode and he will be doing some wild experiments on a certain character!!!

  • JamesL:
    Brightroar,

He saw that the episode ran from 9-10:16pm and forgot there are 60mins in an hour not 100 lol.

Yeah, give GRRM a break. He obviously uses a sundial to measure the passage of time.

  • JamesL: that he knows Lady Stoneheart is cut and doesn’t want to deal with all the fans ranting about it to him on his blog.

No, it doesn’t mean that or anything at all. He has been obstinate about people not discussing the show on Not a Blog for years, and has emphasized it even more strongly in the past.

  • helen:
Can’t wait for this episode! And I hope we do get 166 minutes….. There’s a lot to fit in!

    tiny-tran.blogspot.ca/2014/06/crystal-clay-game-of-thrones-part-10.html

We’ve gone from 60 minutes to 66 minutes to 76 minutes to 116 minutes and now to 166 minutes!

    What is happening here?? :P

  • Is anyone else worried that Grey Worm may not be coming back next season? Rewatching this season, his dedication towards killing the Masters, the burgeoning relationship with Missandei… Feels like they’re lining him up to take the place of Mossador from the books. He was Missandei’s brother, one of the Unsullied, killed by the Son’s of the Harpy. It would really make the Meereen arc one helluva downer this season. I hope I’m wrong, but there just seems to be a fatalism about him this year.

Wow, you’re the first person I’ve seen on here or reddit with a realistic view of what’s going to happen in the finale. I’m amazed that people think Sansa or the Boltons will appear (no chance; episode 8 was their finale), and even more amazed about all the guesses of Shae taking Tysha’s place somehow.

The only thing I would disagree with you about is Thorne supporting Jon in an upcoming election in season 5. I sincerely doubt that will happen. I also feel less than positive that we’ll see the Ironborn and LS tonight, but I sure hope so.

  • Beer in the fridge? Check.

    Friends on their way? Check.

Willingness to accept that it’ll be another nine months until more episodes are on my television? Frak.

  • Oh jeez I don’t think I have ever been so excited and full of dread over a season finale before. I hope the ace the ending, really I do..

  • Yeah, I found reports for Missandei and Daario being regulars, but nothing for Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson).

  • Ser Florian,

I stand corrected. Still, I sense they were giving them scenes together this year as a prelude to a romantic subplot in the future. Missandei’s a regular, and gotta give her something to do aside from translating.

  • Someone on reddit on both the r/gameofthrones and r/asoiaf subreddits have proven that a cable company in Canada posted the episode prematurely. As of right now, it is able for viewing on the company’s mobile app. The person posted a screenshot halfway through the episode to prove it, and it’s legit.

  • acatlover,

Thank you. I try to be a realist.

The Thorne theory is pure speculation on my part. There’s been no mention of Cotter Pyke or Mallister, so that leaves Jon, Thorne and Slynt as the most likely LCs. The way the show is heading, Jon seems like a much more viable candidate than he does in the books. I’m guessing that they’ll split the ballot three ways and when it looks like Slynt might win and Thorne won’t, Thorne throws support behind Jon because he’d rather have a brave leader that he grudgingly respects than a coward like Slynt. I think Slynt’s cowardice will be exposed and I think the scene from last episode shows Thorne recognizing that his time as a leader is over. Why Slynt would be a valid LC is a question mark, however. This would be a quick way of getting Jon to LC while still having a few votes’ time for Stannis to make his offer (which I think will have Shireen in the place of Val).

  • Can anyone confirm the 76 min runtime?

Last I heard it was 66 min… but now it looks like HBO is showing it running from 21:00 – 22:16 which is an extra 10 minutes…

It also makes GRRM’s 116min comment a bit more clear in that he meant to say 1hr16min

  • Wasn’t there something in the original E10 summary about Ramsay trying to impress his father? I recall reading that, but I would think the scene after Moat Cailin would cover that. Maybe there’s a two-minute check-in where Roose offers him Winterfell and a marriage to “Arya Stark”? It would be a hell of a cliffhanger / WTF moment and it could have been what Ramsay was referring to when he said that he would need a bath.

  • Ser Matt the Sullen:
Can anyone confirm the 76 min runtime?

Last I heard it was 66 min… but now it looks like HBO is showing it running from 21:00 – 22:16 which is an extra 10 minutes…

I’m sure it’s still the stated 66 minutes. We’ve been getting ~52 minutes when the listing schedule is 60, so 66 in 75-76 timeslot seems about right.

  • It’s possible that it’s 76 minutes, but I’ve always heard 66. HBO tends to program on a :00, :15, :30, :45 schedule, so the run-time could just mean that the next program doesn’t start until 9:15 Central.

  • Ozymandias,

Where did you find that and are there anymore? I don’t like the way they make the wights look on the show…
I wish they looked more human like the one Jon kills in season 1.

  • Kyle:

At first I thought, “ooh i am going to go find that so I can see if Stoneheart is in.
But then I realized, I really don’t want to know. We are less than 2 hours away from this finale that so many people spent so much effort on, and I want to just experience it as it comes. I’m going to just sit back, relax, and enjoy it.

    I am SO ready :)

  • Ozymandias,

WoW! literally, thanks, that image is like Jojen vs. Wrath of the Lich King skeletal minion. Confirms the battle they were still post producing right up till this past week.

  • Just because they carved out 76 minutes doesn’t mean that’s how long the episode is. They have to promote True Blood, the Leftovers and whatever else.

  • How many UnSullied and others will perish trying to chain R&V? Will they dare burn someone of significance in Dany’s inner circle?

  • How can u tell wat this is in the picture just looks like Simone standing there and there snow and ice mountains or sumthin

  • JamesL,

I deleted the post I made linking to the reddit thread, just because I couldn’t get spoiler tags round the URL itself and there’s very mild spoilers on that page (that image and which scene it’s from). The image linked above was one of 2 posted as proof that the episode could be streamed just now, the other just shows the app with Episode 10 selected.

As for that image… I think that’s just 1 of many Wights that’ll be there, and this one just happens to be quite skeletal. The ones from Season 2 ep 10 and Season 3 ep 1 had a bit more meat to them. I’m sure there’ll be some of them as well, unless these ones have been waiting for years to ambush people at the Great Weirwood.

  • Looks like I’m going to have to avoid this place to keep from getting spoiled!

  • Ozymandias,

I really don’t like when they film the beyond the Wall stuff in that dull open Iceland landscape. Wintery forests are so much more creepy. The open Iceland landscape ruins the creepy and mysterious atmosphere beyond the Wall should have. I wished they filmed the wight attack in a Belfast forrest not Iceland :(

  • JamesL,

They havent been to iceland this winter, just ireland.
This is a made up set, just watch the production videos, lots of snow in the green.

  • Ozymandias,

Apparently Canadians with the On Demand Bell App for their Ipads can watch the episode right now.

I’m Canadian myself but I’m patient enough to wait the hour and ten minutes.

  • Ser Florian,

I wasn’t a fan of the way they looked at the end of season 2 either, way too Walking Dead for my taste. I liked the look of the one from season 1. The season 1 wight was all prosthetics and very little CGI unlike the wights from season 2 and on.

  • WeirwoodTreeHugger:
Looks like I’m going to have to avoid this place to keep from getting spoiled!

Every year it’s the same fucking thing. “I gotta post this and take credit for finding some spoiler info and feel like I’m in-the-know.” Episodes spoilers don’t belong ANYWHERE previous to first official airing! The ‘show spoilers’ button is to hide comments for unsullied by the book, not the show damnit.

  • Greenjones,

Tell us what the finale scene is!!!!! You have the power to put an end to the madness and tell us whether Lady Stoneheart is cut or not!

  • JamesL,

I don’t have that app. I’m sure someone on reddit will say what’s what soon enough. But then the episode itself only airs in an hour, so really it’s not so urgent.

  • If people start posting that stuff in here before episode officially airs at 9PM eastern, just please mark it very well with words, even if you’re using spoiler coding.

  • People please don’t watch the episode on this reedit thing unless ure sure ure gonna tune in for the official airing …. We don’t want the ratings to drop this finale

  • There is a poster on the ASOIAF subreddit who makes pretty accurate seeming claims about what they’ve seen. They’re verifiably Canadian and don’t have a trollish post history. Go seek it out if you care to.

Myself, I won’t be back online until after the ep. has aired. See you all in the off-season.

  • HELP! I am at a hotel that I was told had HBO. Well, they do, but they can’t get it working!!!! Is there anywhere on line I can watch it? How does HBO GO works? Im at the point where Im thinking of calling other hotels just to see if they might be able to get me hBO on their lobby tv. Can anyone give me ideas? I have 30 minutes!

  • All non-readers should be recording their reader friends tonight. It’s their turn to go bonkers at the end of the episode. No Stoneheart??? AAARRRGGHHHH!!!!

  • How long till it airs … I live in India …it’s 6am Monday morning here …. Can’t wait … Sadly I’m one of those guys whose only option is to download the show from torrents after it airs in America because we don’t have HBOGo here in India and they air the show nearly 6 months later and ain’t nobody got time for that … Still I do own all 3 seasons on BlueRay :)

Hosting a large season finale viewing party at my place tonight

  • Faheeb:
When will the episode be on HBOgo?

HBO GO usually starts 5-10 minutes after 9pm EST. You miss the “previously on Game of Thrones” part of the episode, though.

  • Forget the brown pants. I’m going to take my laptop into the bathroom, and watch this one on the toilet.

  • ash,

Run to the local bar and ask if they could direct one TV to HBO…with captioning. 2 drink minimum. Or run down the street yelling “Will do dishes for HBO GoT!!!” Apartment complex nearby? Someone will be nice to you, I hope. Good luck!

  • Lady stoneheart Spoiler from a Canadian who has seen the episode:

No Lady Stoneheart appearance and the Bloodraven looks “cartoonish”

  • After finding out I could watch early with the app, hopped online and skipped to the end because nobody else would…. LS was not there. Episode ends with Arya boarding a ship.

  • Dalaquat:

Lol well atleast that’s better than Dany during last season’s finale How do the CotF look?

  • Shit, I am going to die after this episode tonight. I have been waiting for this for what feels like all my life!!!! I CANT WAIT ANOTHER 10 Minutes!

  • To all the people who will rage if there’s no Stoneheart. Perhaps you should give up on the show and stop posting about it on the forums. You’ll be missed, but the rest of us will have to soldier on. Please let us enjoy our terrible adaptation of the books.

    This made me laugh..

  • ASH. I feel bad for you. Find a local bar that has it! I am sure there is some bar somewhere near you that is having a viewing party. There is one in each town.

  • Less than 10 minutes till the last hour and a quarter of the best hedonistic series in television history:)
Until next year, but hey we have casting suggestions, casting clues and of course actual casting to carry us for the next couple of months.

  • My anticipation for the episode is so high that I’m sure it won’t meet my expectations. It’s hard not to worry that it won’t meet your anticipation when you hear that this finale is superior than the previous 3 > <..

I'll try not to anticipate much so I can enjoy the episode as it is before I get a heart attack.

  • Well I guess Lena Heady posted her LS spoiler after she got the season 5 script. Also makes sense why Cogman left twitter again “for real” yesterday. Hope idiots don’t talk trash to him

  • Turncloak,

No, most likely that Instagram post meant nothing. I knew I was right about her being cut but this won’t put an end to it. Now we’re going to have to hear about her all next season from fans who are still convinced she is going to show up. Hopefully the writers will confirm or deny whether or not she is going to show up in the show after tonights episode so we don’t have to have this debate all next season.

  • B,

This is a small town on a Sunday night, if there are bars open they probably aren’t ones Id want to be in….I spent the last half hour dealing with my cable companies customer service and got no help (well, lots of helpful people who couldnt give me an answer and directed me to someone else). I even tried to get ahold of HBO GO by phone and they are closed. so, I give up. I’ll watch the repeat on HBO when I get home. And I am going to probably going to say a few words to the management when we leave In the meantime – Happy viewing (sob!)

  • Tatters,

Sorry :/, I really hope they do confirm whether or not she will be appearing in the show after tonights episode though so we don’t have to go through this all next season.

  • I love the attention-whoring that goes on in these open chat threads. Vague one word / one sentence comments with no context, baiting people to ask wtf the commenter is even talking about. Grow up people, really.

  • Tyrion Pimpslap, u were saying they would never cut Tysha :-p

Decent episode overall. Not the best of the season and not the worst. Amazing Arya ending

  • Don’t listen to the nerds on here. According to reactions on twitter the episode was amazing.

  • Well, at least there were no caged direwolves…Arya, the Hound, Brienne and Tyrion nailed it. 9 month wait begins.

  • Now that was probably the best episode yet!

I guess Lady Stoneheart will be content for Season 5~

So, no Lady Stoneheart? At this point I don’t think she’ll ever appear.

Oh relax. Seriously, why the hell does it HAVE to happen this season for it to ever appear? Why is it never enough to just wait?

  • Why would she appear, we arent at that point in the story yet. Brienne will meet her next season, Gendrys confirmed back after seeing things that have changed him

  • Thoros of Brooklyn: We’ve gone from 60 minutes to 66 minutes to 76 minutes to 116 minutes and now to 166 minutes!

    What is happening here?? :P

Haha sorry! Definitely an over-excited typo on my part. I WISH we could have a finale that was over 2 hours…

  • Well, Sister Wrister, I did, true to my word, go running down my street screaming, with my poor kid behind me going: What the hell did D&D do, Mom? I’ll live somehow :)

  • I see a lot of people getting upset about certain things not being included. I personally think it would have made the episode TOO crowded. However, given how last week’s episode focused on The Wall, they could have attached the Stannis thing on to that and maybe there would have been room for those other things.
Also, though it deviated from the books, the scene with Brienne broke my heart. I almost wished they would deviate more just to see those two hang out.

    2/10

I hope this is a parody post. If it’s not, any of the horrid deaths from the show tonight will do.

  • Turncloak,

Yeah, I was 1 for 2 on my predictions. I was surprised that they left out that revelation, and how did Tyrion know how to get to the Tower of the Hand? That was sloppily handled. Another 2 or 3 minutes would have really helped to flesh out that scene, Tyrion going nuts. The Cersei stuff was well acted, but I’m not sure I understand why Jaime and her are seemingly back on. Also didn’t like how they didn’t have the Mountain die. I guess Oberyn didn’t have some form of revenge, afterall.

Arya’s scenes were my favorite. Guess who’s still alive!

Mance went out easily, but he at least said he didn’t want any more blood. So I can somewhat understand. Jon and Melisandre was good foreshadowing. Can’t wait for the Jon/Stannis/Mel triangle and the true Azor Ahai confusion.

I love Bloodraven. I didn’t get a good look at whether he had only one eye, and if it was red, but I geeked out at the ‘A thousand eyes, and one’ reference. The Children were less creepy looking then they were described, but don’t really care. Did they throw fire in the books? And I guess Jojen really did die in the books.

Overall, I really liked the episode. There were some great scenes. Rory McCann may have stolen the season MVP from Pedro Pascal. So glad he didn’t die. Had the KL scenes been absolutely nailed, it would have been my favorite episode of the season. As it is, it is probably tied with ‘Mockingbird’,’Watchers On The Wall’, and ‘Two Swords’, as my favorite episodes of the season. All of them would be in my top 12-15 overall. Season 4 was just below season 1 as my favorite.

We now enter the unknown, and I think I’m good with that, so long as they keep the main beats close to the books.

  • OH please! That was not the best ever!!!! I still enjoyed it, but it was not all the hype they said it would be and we were trolled by Lena Heady! LOL.

Hmmm. I am not sure yet what to say here. I guess I should process more. I don’t want to spoiler tag because I am an idiot I guess because it never works for me… So I will be very vague…

It felt very vacant somehow. Again, I did enjoy it for the most part, but I guess my expectations were very high because they really said this was one they were so proud of, the best ever. The only part that got me really emotional was the Dany bit. It was mostly because I was remembering how I felt while reading that in the books. I was so mad after reading it that I put the kindle down for a week.

I don’t like some of the changes and some of the music queues were a bit silly like during THE fight scene. It made me laugh out loud and I don’t think I was supposed to have that reaction. The bran stuff was strange to me to, the way it played out and I miss you know who. But again, it was still good, just not as epic and emotional as I hoped. It felt to abbreviated. I wanted to spend more time on each setting. If we had more time in the episode, like a two hour finally (ideally) I would like to have had as much time with each setting as we had with Jon. Just my opinion of course. I am actually glad that we didn’t get lady. I think it would have felt out of nowhere since we had heard no stories of happenings. That would have been cool if they’d been doing that then we got the reveal. I am going to watch again and see how I feel on second viewing.

  • I think the best scenes in the finale were the ones with Arya, Stannis, and Tyrion. Yeah they did make changes, but the overall storyline came across. And wait before Dany closed up her dragons in the catacombs, was she actually showing a different face. She was crying! Holy Shit! It’s a miracle, she has another facial expression!
