The Game of Thrones cast hits San Diego Comic Con

The big event of the day was the Game of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where we got a Season 4 blooper reel, and some long awaited casting news. But that isn’t all the cast got up to!

Before the panel George R.R. Martin, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, and Natalie Dormer stopped by Entertainment Weekly’s booth to make some gifs!

Some of the cast also stopped by Entertainment Weekly Radio for an interview.

An amazing selfie happened during their interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Natalie Dormer is pulling double duty this weekend. She’s busy promoting Game of Thrones as well as the first instalment of Mockingjay. Natalie was on hand to premiere the first official teaser trailer for the new film at the Hard Rock Hotel.

And now for the big event, the panel! Just a warning that I’m about to go crazy with pictures, because I really enjoy our cast, and it seems that the cameras did too.

A great shot of the whole gang.

They obviously had a lot of fun backstage.

The cast then diligently signed autographs for fans.

Posed with Funko figures for the official Game of Thrones Twitter.

Made their way onto the TV Guide yacht.

And posed for their self-made album cover.

An extra bit of news came out of the day in the form of a potential new role for Maisie Williams. Acclaimed Director/Producer Sam Raimi made a special appearance at the Screen Gems panel alongside Neil Druckmann, the creator of Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us. The pair were there to talk about the popular video game being made into a feature film. Maisie has long been a fan favorite to portray the female lead, Ellie. During the panel, Raimi and Druckmann revealed that they have actually had a meeting with Maisie to talk about joining the project, although nothing has been signed yet. In April of this year, Maisie tweeted back to a fan that considered her a good match for that part that she “100% would not say no. Ever.”, and tweeted with Druckmann last night after the huge reaction to his reveal at the panel.

On a final note, for those that are interested, a full video of George R.R. Martin’s panel where he discussed his comic book series In the House of Worm, and his writing is available to watch:

I’m sure we are going to be inundated with interviews and videos tomorrow, can’t wait!

Don’t forget that tomorrow Maisie Williams and Natalie Dormer will be on Entertainment Weekly’s Women Who Kick Ass panel, Gwendoline Christie will be on the TV Guide Magazine: Fan Favorites panel, and George R.R. Martin will be on the Rulers of the Realm panel.
