Events Interview

Gwendoline Christie featured on TV Guide’s Fan Favorites panel at SDCC

Gwendoline Christie was featured on TV Guide’s Fan Favorites panel yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con. Gwendoline was joined by, Misha Collins (Supernatural), Jordan Gavaris (Orphan Black), Sam Heughan (Outlander), John Noble (Sleepy Hollow), Colin O’Donoghue (Once Upon a Time), Retta (Parks and Recreation) and Aisha Tyler (Archer) to talk about working on some of television’s most popular series.

In the panel full of laughs, Gwendoline recalls a particularly odd fan encounter while she was in the dentist chair, and the draw of taking on the iconic character of Brienne of Tarth. She says that although Game of Thrones is based on a book series, changes can be made, and the showrunners like to joke around about the fate of their characters.

She reveals what her favorite televisions series are, saying she loves True Detective, and is late to the party, but is currently addicted to Breaking Bad. Near the end of the panel Gwendoline speaks at length about how much she loves Brienne, and how happy she is that the character is celebrated amongst fans despite being different than the norm.

  • Gwendoline seems to be alot of fun. She seems to have fun with her fame from playing Brienne. Seems like a really humble person. Good for her!

  • Great panel, been a fan of the great John Noble for many a year now, but especially since he played Denethor in “The Lord Of The Rings” trilogy, then of course as Walter Bishop in “Fringe”… Misha Collins is also awesome, I’ve been a “Supernatural” fan for 10 years now, hard to believe how fast time flies…

A bit less familiar with the rest, but great people nonetheless and of course Brienne “Of Fucking Tarth” (as The Hound said it right before he got his head bashed in with a stone and thrown of a cliff by her).

Seeing Gwendoline Christie’s enthusiasm and her passion for the part is why we as fans should consider ourselves lucky so have such a great cast to watch on the show!

Can’t wait to see her on “The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay” (Part 1 and 2?) and of course “Star Wars Episode VII: Whatever The Latest Rumoured Title Is” right now (An Ancient Fear???).
