Charles Dance to voice character in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
By Josh Hill on in General.

Game of Thrones has been a launching pad for actors on the show when it comes to increasing their popularity. A character doesn’t have to be killed off for the actor who plays him or her to become a hot name in other projects, but it helps if you have some free time on your hands.

One actor who was already popular but is continuing to see his stock rise is Charles Dance, who played Tywin Lannister on the series. He  is now taking his talents to the world of video games for the first time in his long and successful career.

Dance will be voicing the character of Emperor Emhyr var Emreis in the highly anticipated upcoming video game The Witcher 3.

Charles Dance is the perfect candidate to play the mighty Nilfgaardian emperor in our upcoming title. It’s a dream come true for the team here at RED to be able to work with such an accomplished actor and magnetic personality, said Marcin Blacha, Lead Writer for the title.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the more anticipated games of the upcoming video game year. It’s only going to get more credibility and popularity thanks to Dance being involved with the game. He knows how to play a villainous character, and even if his character isn’t sinister as Tywin, there’s a safe bet that Dance is going to be great.

I don’t believe that post belongs here. If it does, then it invites all the other posts about GOT actors doing other projects (i.e. Kit Harinton doing “Pompeii”) and other posts about the GOT actor’s activities, like who they’re rumored to be dating, etc. Regardless of change of ownership/authorship, this website has always been about posting GOT-focused news: please lets keep it to that. Thank you.

    Uno0,

Have you ever played the Witcher?
It is (so far) as near as a game can come to Game of Thrones without being a Game of Thrones game.

I don’t mind the news being posted here at all. Then again, that might just be because I’m a huge Witcher fan. The atmosphere in the games comes as close to that of Game of Thrones as you can get.

It seemed odd to me too, but one of my favourite posts/comment threads ever here was the post about recommending movies/shows starring GOT actors to get us through the hiatus, and I imagine that was of interest to most any fan. That feels more acceptable for some reason.

Dance doing VA work for Witcher 3 was announced over a year ago (as noted at the very link you included in this piece…).
