Awards Peter Dinklage Season 4

Game of Thrones nominated for three Screen Actors Guild Awards

The build up to Awards Season continues. The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards released their nominations for their 22nd Annual Awards next month. Game of Thrones landed three nods for Season 4.

As it was for Season 3, Game of Thrones is nominated in three categories. For the second year in a row, Peter Dinklage is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. The show is also nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for the third time in four years. And once again, the show is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Drama Series, which it’s won every year it’s been on the air.

Game of Thrones’ history with these awards is not so favorable, stunt ensemble aside. Though it was nominated for both Season 1 and Season 3 in the Outstanding Ensemble category, it lost both times. Season 1 lost to Boardwalk Empire, and Season 3 to Breaking Bad. As for the year GoT was not nominated (Season 2), the award Outstanding Ensemble went to Downton Abbey, which is also nominated in that category this year, along with GoT and Boardwalk.

  • Golden Globes are out as well – GoT nominated for Best Drama. Can they finally win with Breaking Bad no longer among the nominees? Didn’t see any acting nominees, though?

It will be ridiculous when it doesn’t win and we know it won’t. Going against House of Cards, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife and The Affair shouldn’t even be a contest. I’ve even managed to keep watching a couple of those, but they’re not on the same level.

well, I think season 4 was maybe the strongest GoT season yet, while Homeland and House of Cards were not as good as previous years, and I heard the same for Downton Abbey.

  • I am a big Downton Abbey fan but I have to agree that Season 4 was not as good as previous seasons, nor was House of Cards. Perhaps this will be the year for Game of Thrones!

  • NewJeffCT,

Hell yeah it should. GoT is the best show on TV by quite a distance now that BB is over. HoC, TD etc. are great but aren’t on the level of GoT. It MUST win.
