As the holiday releases shift into high gear, it’s a good time to check in on some of the high profile outside projects the stars of Game of throens are involved with. First up, everyone’s favorite hairball, Kit Harington. Last spring saw Spooks: the Greater Good release int he UK. Now the film is coming to the US, under the show’s international title MI-5. Entertainment Weekly has got the exclusive trailer for the US release.

Note that since in the US, Harington is better known that either the show (reruns of which air on local PBS affiliates) or the main star, Peter Firth, both the trailer and the poster are very Harington-centric.

Moving on, Gwendoline Christie has dropped an interview on her ground breaking character Captain Phasma in the new Star Wars movie out in December.

“We see Captain Phasma, and we see the costume from head to toe, and we know that it is a woman. But we are used to, in our media, connecting to female characters via the way that they look, from the way they are made flesh.”

Much like Brienne of Tarth, Phasma is a character who does not wear armor that emphasizes her figure, or her femininity. To Christie, the fact that she’s a warrior who happens to be a woman is a big deal in the Star Wars universe, almost as transgressive as Brienne, who as a female knight is breaking all sorts of Westerosi taboos. Also, gotta love the J.J. Abrams lensflare on her helmet.

And finally, though Maisie Williams was only announced for two episodes of Doctor Who this season, by the end of “The Woman Who Lived,” it was clear she was a character who would be returning to bedevil the Doctor, and soon, as she popped up in the background of one of Clara’s present day selfies.

This week is was confirmed Williams has filmed more scenes for the season. At MCM Comic Con, the writer of episode 10 “Face the Raven”, Sarah Dollard confirmed that Williams will be appearing at least in her episode, if not other ones. Willaims also spoke to Doctor Who Extra about getting the part.

Also, the show did a bunch of “Rufus Cams” with comedian Rufus Hound as corollaries to last week’s “Maisie Cams.” One of my favorites–when Maisie insists she’s never done TV before and has no clue what she’s doing.
