Going international: Indian film apes Jon Snow sex scene, GoT crops up in Malaysian financial crisis

Game of Thrones is often emulated around the world. From music videos to lawyers who prefer to settle their grievances through trials by combat, everyone is getting in on the fun.

And now, the show’s love scenes are making international waves. Enter Mohenjo Daro, an upcoming Indian adventure-romance film. According to Bollywood Life, stars Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde recreated the steamy (pardon the terrible pun) love scene between Jon Snow and Ygritte from Game of Thrones Season 3, when they slipped into the steam-fed pool in a cave north of the Wall and made sweet, sweet wildling love. Ygritte learned that day that Jon in fact knew at least one thing.

This isn’t the first time that Indian cinema has crossed paths with Game of Thrones. Nearly a year ago, rumors of an Indian remake of the show began to swirl, although there’s been no information in a while. I’m not saying that an Indian version of Thrones wouldn’t be fun or successful…but I’m also not not saying that either.

And now for something pretty different: Nazir Razak, a powerful Malaysian banker and brother to the country’s prime minister took to Instagram to liken Malaysia’s financial woes to that of the political landscape on the show.

I do so love it when the out of touch upper-crust types try to pander to the unwashed masses by using a universally recognized and beloved show. Not long ago, Nazir’s brother the prime minister was cleared of charges that he misappropriated around $4 billion in state funds, although the situation is still being reviewed by outside authorities. Is Nazir’s Game of Thrones comment a dig at his brother’s administration?

Nazir, in any case, is clearly a fan. As a money man, perhaps he has a long and fruitful career as an apprentice for Littlefinger.
