“The Door,” aka the most enigmatically titled episode of Game of Thrones Season 6 so far, airs tonight. Here’s where and when and how to watch it.

  • Start Time: May 22, 2016, 9 p.m. EST
  • TV Info: HBO
  • Episode: Season 6, Episode 5, “The Door”
  • Writers: David Benioff and Dan Weiss
  • Director: Jack Bender
  • Run time: 57 minutes

At 57 minutes, “The Door” is another lengthy episode. It’ll be the first of two hours this year directed by Game of Thrones newbie Jack Bender. Here’s HBO’s official synopsis:

"Tyrion seeks a strange ally. Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) learns a great deal. Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) goes on a mission. Arya (Maisie Williams) is given a chance to prove herself."

We can probably assume that the “strange ally” Tyrion seeks is Kinvara, a Red Priestess who will visit Meereen. Get a load of her in the trailer for tonight’s episode:

So Bran learns a great deal, huh? By the looks of the trailer, what he’ll learn will boil down to “humanity is screwed.”

Although they’re neither mentioned in the synopsis nor shown off in the trailer, the official images HBO released for this episode reveal that “The Door” will check in on Daenerys and company…

…and Jon Snow.

The King’s Landing crew is nowhere to be seen. Are they sitting this hour out?

What do you hope will happen in “The Door?” What do you dread? There are quite a lot of balls in the air at the moment, but if I had to choose the one I’m most excited about, it’d probably have to be Bran’s next trip into the past. Those have been consistently fascinating, and I’m eager to see what he and the Three-Eyed Raven see next.
