Harington Hairwatch: The man finally shaves, and complains of sexism toward men

Kit Harington’s hairstyle became an obsession during the time between Game of Thrones Seasons 5 and 6. We were all watching closely to see if the actor would cut off those locks of his, hoping that would give us a clue as to whether Jon Snow was really dead. Well, Harington has finally shaved…his face.

Don’t worry though, guys—it’ll grow back in time for Season 7.

He is in Season 7 right? (Here we go again.)

But although he’s had a year of us obsessing over his every lock, perhaps Harington is glad for the distraction, since it might keep everyone from noticing the foot he inserted into his mouth the other week when he cluelessly went all men’s rights activist and started whining that men are somehow being discriminated against in Hollywood to the Sunday Times. (It’s paywalled, so we’re taking The New Zealand Herald‘s word for it.)

"I think there is a double standard. If you said to a girl, ‘Do you like being called a babe?, and she said, No, not really,’ she’d be absolutely right. I like to think of myself as more than a head of hair or a set of looks. It’s demeaning. Yes, in some ways you could argue I’ve been employed for a look I have. But there’s a sexism that happens towards men."

Excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor from laughing. No, sweetie. (I believe this is where I get to say “Not All Men!”)

But when you have the poor taste as to pick movies such as Pompeii, where the entire point of the exercise is for the production to oil up your muscles, dress you in faux bondage-type leather and surround you with CGI, people are going to perhaps consider that you may not be much more than a pretty head of hair. I’m pretty sure this is not a problem currently being had by, say, Richard Madden, who chose to play Prince Charming in the smash hit live action Cinderella. Not only as that a smart movie to go with, but it also had him fully clothed at all times.

In other celebrity news, Sam Coleman, who played Young Hodor (aka Wylis), has recorded a song about his character’s transformation from Wylis to Hodor. It’s called “Hold the Door,” and it’s amazing.

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson has been in the news lately, as 6-foot-9 strongmen who broke thousand-year-old strength records are wont to be. He gave us a look at what looks like his Mountain makeup on Instagram:

Will we ever see him without the helmet? Stay tuned.

And finally: happy birthday, Liam Cunningham, who turns 55 today!

Please don’t die, Davos.
