Game of Thrones Season 6 is over. As we look forward to a long dark winter without new episodes, let’s look at the top stories of the week following this past Sunday’s season finale, “The Winds of Winter.”

“The Winds of Winter” was a hell of a way to end the season. We recap the whole shebang with two write-ups, one fro book-readers…

…and one for fans who’ve only ever watched the show.

We walk shot by shot through “The Winds of Winter” in our thorough screencap breakdown.

David Benioff and Dan Weiss got real with Deadline, where they discussed where the show is going in its final two seasons and how quickly it’s getting there.

In “The Winds of Winter,” the show revealed that Jon Snow’s mother was Lyanna Stark. Although most of the fans can probably guess who his real father is, HBO confirmed it.

Varys has been on a whirlwind journey these past couple of episodes. How did he get from Meereen to Dorne and back so quickly? Plot hole? Time jump? Other?

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and Eugene Michael Simon (Lancel Lannister) talk about dark things in Queen Cersei’s future.

Lyanna Mormont became a new fan favorite character this year. Actress Bella Ramsay discusses her journey.

The Game of Thrones cast and crew members have been making some disturbing noise about mounting tension between Jon Snow and Sansa. Actress Sophie Turner weighs in.

The cast members may not know a lot yet, but some of the big names are already forecasting what’s to come in Game of Thrones Season 7.

We do some forecasting of our own in our final Valar Morghulis column of the year.
