Welcome to WiC Weekly, where we recap the biggest Game of Thrones-related news stories from the past week.

We start with a big announcement from this past Thursday: Game of Thrones was nominated for a huge number of Emmys. Find out which ones.

As many nominations as it racked up, certain members of the cast and crew were still passed up.

The actress who played Lyanna Stark, Aisling Franciosi, dived into the flashback scene at the Tower of Joy in “The Winds of Winter.”

HBO hires Samuel L. Jackson to recap Game of Thrones, complete with his trademark profanity.

Casting for Game of Thrones Season 7 is officially underway. A couple of young actresses are already in the running.

Game of Thrones has been around for six years, long enough for the series now mine its own history to underline themes or provide fun little asides for fans. We gather some of the best callbacks and Easter eggs from Season 6.

According to local outlets, Game of Thrones will film new scenes in Iceland this upcoming January. This fits with reports about Season 7 premiering later in the year than usual.

Elsewhere, the CBC volunteers Canada as somewhere HBO could shoot Game of Thrones Season 7. Anyone interested?

Finally, as terrifying and/or wonderful as it is to contemplate, the people behind Pokémon GO are interested in making a similar game set in Game of Thrones‘ Westeros.
